They also have stylish headplates you can by converted to $20-30 each with color choices so you can stylize your headset instead of showing the standard land design to your friends and public. They will let you have designs on them at some point too.

Aoxue has said they were expecting to have the funds to launch global in 2023, and from the article it seems they have indeed gotten the funding to do so just recently. They have a XR2 5k headset, with a light form factor. More details to come. They will launch in Asia shortly (or already have) and will be releasing in other places not long from now.

We should be seeing more info on spec and controllers later. They said in the past they would compete with Quest on price, I'm assuming they are talking about what they expect Quest 3 to be given the specs revealed so far. Will be interesting to see what they will launch at.

There's already multiple devices with pancake, industry has been going in that direction since last year, not really copying as much as that's how you get price down and lighter weight generally.

Think it is the size and lack of distortion more than anything. Pancake lenses seem to allow the headset to stick out a much shorter distance.

Many of these company bring up weight and comfort regarding the headset because of Pancake lens too. Seems to be the solution for now, on weighty bricks on your forehead.

Well the further it sticks out the more you feel the weight it's why some people actually add extra weight to the back of headset straps to increase comfort.

And I'm guessing this is yet another 4560 × 2280 pancake lens thing. I mean, they're pretty nice, especially if you have adequate PC hardware to crank the res up

Still coming in 2023 but no release date yet.

However, it will launch in US at $2999 Yuan which is in USD $435. So I wouldn't be surprised if the official sales price ends up being $450. Which is still a pretty good price for this headsets specs and features.

I will say the heavy marketing involving mostly women (with some men) may actually be a good idea if they make the headset seem stylish, like a fashion item that can also watch movies, play games, and chat with friends. It may expand the demographics by making the headset seem more approachable than some of the other headsets, especially at the expected price point. It's also slim and light weight.

Though there might be some hyperbole here, I don't think the headset will still be intact if it's struck by a meteor but ok. lol.
