Assassin's Creed II - The |OT|

I'm confused about the additional content differences between the White Edition and Special Edition here in the UK. Does the White Edition have everything that the special edition does, just including the Ezio figure?

For some reason I am suspecting neither - more of a slip case or something?. Usually SteelBooks are explicitly mentioned before release.

Well it says
Collectable black packaging with unique authentic holographic signature
but I got a feeling thats just the main packaging box & the game is just the standard edition packed inside :(
But the US Master Edition(AKA white edition) says
•Premium Collectable Metal Case
so I'm kinda confused

It seems that is the case, im personally thinking about getting the black edition seeing as you get 2 more quests with it (Im assuming these extra missions are going to be an hours worth of content or more?)

I unfortunately bought the Ezio outfit from Avatar Marketplace.
Haha, I did too. I used to very harshly judge people who paid for Avatar stuff, but now I'm part of the problem...

Alright, help me out here.

I got AC1 the first day it came out and played the hell out of that bitch and enjoyed it, but of course there were three major things I hated.

One was the flag/templar fetching. That shit was really annoying and turned me off that they'd tie those things to Achievements (yes, I'm an Achievement whore, it's my playstyle).

Second were the repetitive side missions. Yes, I know they've dealt with that in the sequel, but I can't help but feel that we'll run into that repetitive wall again considering there's, what, 100 side quests with only 16 different types of quests?

Third was the fact that you couldn't continue playing your game after you'd beaten it. Seriously, I really wanted to just ride arond on my horses, jump on buildings for the hell of it (this consumed most of my Crackdown playtime) and just all kinds of shit, but it just stopped and that upset me.

What do you guys think? I want to jump on this so bad, but I'm still hesitant. Everything else about AC2 sounds so awesome (economy system, new combat tactics, locations set in Italy, more weapons and weapon upgrades, armor upgrades, etc.)

And of course I'm a huge fan of the story in AC so I really want to find out what happens next. :p

I think if you enjoyed the first one, it's definitely worth it to jump in on AC2. Pretty much everything seems to be improved as you mentioned and you want to see how the story progresses, so what's holding you back? :lol I'll be getting my 360 copy tomorrow so if there are any really specific concerns you have let me know, and I'll try to look into them with my playtime.

You could get back in the Animus after the game ended. I went back and got a bunch more flags that way.

Er, what? :lol

You could keep playing. Its how I got all my flags and shit after the fact. Hop back in the Animus and go back.

I'm sort of confused about the various pre-order bonuses (in the U.S.) Are the Best Buy and Gamestop ones completely different? If I pre-order the Gamestop Collector's Edition does that mean there's no way (short of buying the game twice) I can get the BB bonus?

Anyone know if they're even worth it?

WHAT THE FUCK. At the end, all I could do was
look around the room with Eagle Vision and see a bunch of red scriptures around.
<---AC1 ending spoiler, if it matters, lol.

And yeah, guess you guys are right. I'll hop on this bitch on BF for sure. :D

This is gone. There are different stuff to fetch but they serve different purposes and actually rewards you. (I don't want to spoil you what they are). All entirely optional of course.

The repetitive side of the game is gone imo. Unless you don't like a GTA's type of structure of course. Gone is the investigations routine and now the game is entirely story based. You will go talk to characters and the missions will proceed, making the story go forward, exactly like GTA. You also do alot of stuff, pretty much any mission type you see in GTA and such games. 16 types is ALOT. GTA don't have more when you think about it. From the top of my head: Go to (duh), Follow, Escort, Fetch, Race, Assassinate, Collect, Deliver, Beat up, Fight, Carry, etc.

I dunno about AC1 but now you can return in your game and mess around for as long as you desire to.

The side missions are purely 1 specific activity right? We won't see them hange and evolve from a follow into a chase into an assassination, that's just the main missions?

I hope this game has the really cool sound effect the first game had when you got a new flag. It was more like a "tune" .. you guys know what i'm talking about?

Thanks for the information. I'm loving what they've done with AC2.

I haven't really kept up much in terms of media screens and videos so I'll be going in fresh. The only video I saw was when Ezio was at that night party and used the flying contraption.

The game looks absolutely beautiful, as well. Just beautiful. :)

That lil' jingle whenever you synchronized at a View Point? Killed a Templar? Or finished a mission?

Yeah, loved that.

The Best Buy map is different from the ones you get at Gamestop. I'm sure that they'll all be made available as DLC in the coming months.

No one really seems to know anything else about them, though.

Well, I don't want to spoil too much but there's multiple things to do outside the main missions to the contrary of AC1 where it was basically assassinations or flags collecting.

Yeah, I can't tell anymore, when I started watching it it sounded like it was all Italian, but now I'm hearing both languages. :lol

I think what you were hearing was the normal English tracks. They in fact say some things in Italian. For instance, the first time we see Ezio , etc.. It's been mentioned that there is in fact a straight up Italian voice track though. I really don't want to spoil the game by watching these streams, but I'm so tempted. Especially after listening to "Ezio's Family" track by Kyd. AMAZING track, un-fucking-real.

Wow, clicked that other stream, noticed that the player was taking advtange of the dyes. It's a small feature, but it's just so cool that you can have a unique looking Ezio. I actually like the brown/tans the guy has going. This really gets me giddy, I can't wait for midnight launch...

I'm trying to decide if I should seek out a CE of this game next week at Gamestop, I only have the standard edition reserved. It's an extra $20 for an action figure, two maps, and an artbook right?

Hmmm

Just wondered:

I love how there's an Italian voice option, but when we go to parts spoken by Desmond, does he also speak Italian or English?

When it's in Italian it's as in "an Italian localisation of a game". Therefore everything is in Italian. In English they will all speak english but with Italian accent and they will throw Italian words here and there, sometimes a full sentence.

Which are so painful to hear as an Italian :lol

Seriously, why didn't they ask some Italian to do the Italian voice overs?

I know for sure that the French track is painful. There's not even an Italian accent.

The Italian voiceovers in the English track feel very forced. It makes situations quite comical at times.

Do you mean the bits where they say things in Italian? I actually think they sound pretty good; the point was probably to emphasize each word and give the audience a textbook "authentic" feel to it. Obviously, if you speak Italian fluently, or have heard Italians speak it's much different because they aren't concerned about making things audible. I could never understand my Grandfather when he spoke Italian because it was always to another native speaker.

But yea, in this case, it is very comical because it's over exaggerated. You have to admit, the voice acting is MUCH better in 2, compared to Altair and his boss there.

I really like how they've implemented certain features based on the time period. For example, the reason the whole economic/money feature is in is because "banking" (in some form) was a big business during the Renaissance, especially in Florence. Makes sense that they would be inspired to explore this in the game then. I'm impressed by the dedication the team has for the series; in the past, I haven't been all that impressed with UbiMon. They have great ideas but they sometimes have trouble creating something fun/unique.
