Is this cargo hijack task buggered for anybody else? Every time I get close to the location, the area resets and all other hijacks/raids/etc. disappear from the map (although they do return after faster travelling).

Just finished this. Surprise of the year for me.

I love that ENDING SPOILERS
Evie isn't disempowered in some way in the final fight, and that the twins finish the job together. It was really satisfying and I honestly expected the worst, so came away pleasantly surprised.

I'm also really happy that the modern day stuff seems to be picking up again. What a great game.

Edit: uh holy shit the
WWI stuff. Wasn't expecting that. And another female character too! Slay.

Good god, the quality of main missions drops off a fucking cliff around Sequence 7. Ubi really needs to drop stealth entirely because apparently all their studios are equally bad at developing it.

Had that exact anxiety playing it. Thought that they did a great job making both equally important in that finale. Which was awesome.

When you finish the game, can you still explore the world and collect the remaining collectibles like you could in previous games?

Jacob's talent tree is geared more towards combat while Evie is more about stealth. Each has the same options for skills except 3 special talents. It doesn't matter which one you want to play as, as they gather skill points together. The game will make you play a specific characters depending on the mission.

You can change outfits not too far after the completing the tutorial

Thanks for the help! And I'm able to change outfits already, but the steampunk one isn't showing up and I've confirmed its downloaded/installed...

just picked this up. Gonna give it a go 2mrw. Was wondering though, is there customization things like the villa or ship in past games?

There is a hideout, but as far as I can tell it doesn't upgrade like it does in past games. When you complete main story missions you get souvenirs that show up in it, but as far as your equipment and stuff, I haven't seen that area update at all.

Question. I'm 75%ish through Black Flag (my first AC game) and it's OK. I like the combat, the story and the voice work but I really dislike the real world shit that pulls you out of the story and I don't care for the ship combat/quests. Is Syndicate more my speed? I just want to run around doing my quests murdering everything that moves. And please tell me they toned down the tailing quests, it seems like all I'm doing in BF is tailing someone and listening to their conversation.

The real world stuff in Syndicate consists only of a few skippable cutscenes, and the game has no ships.

And yeah, there's definitely wayyyyyyy less tailing missions. I only distinctly remember a single one in Syndicate. There may be more that I don't remember, but there are way less than in BF for sure.

Great, thanks. It sounds like Syndicate will definitely be more my speed then.

I felt the same about Black Flag, it was okay compared to the recent releases before it but it had too much stuff going on for its own good. Syndicate doesn't feel like that at all, removed a lot of the fluff and streamlined other things.

This is what I want to hear. Honestly I had no idea AC games were simulations and I don't like it at all, so I'm glad Syndicate almost entirely does away with it, I remember one bit where I was really getting into the story and the fucking game made me log out and read emails, I couldn't believe it. A big problem for me in BF is the story feels fragmented, I'll do a mission, jump on my boat and I'll be somewhere else in the near future, it just doesn't flow well IMO, is it better in Syndicate?

In the beginning you're meeting lot of side characters and doing little tasks for them. Other than that, the only fragmentation is that you are being force to play both Evie and Jacob specific missions, but that is kind of the story so it works for me. The constant boating in Black Flag took the wind out of the story sails.

I'm about 10 hours in and I think I've seen 2 cut scenes of modern day stuff and they were about 2 mins each.

I'm looking forward to starting it in the near future, I need to bosh out BF first then I need to decide if I go into Syndicate next or play a different game in my backlog and play Syndicate once it has seen a bunch of patches on PC.

I wish they would have varied the enemy types more. I feel like I've intimately gotten to know the buff bald guy after finishing the game because he was literally copy pasted into every single encounter I ever had and stuck out like a sore thumb.

Some very big spoilers on the Jack the Ripper DLC dropped thanks to Reddit user Mega1500 perusing the video files on PC. Not sure if it's kosher to post a link here, but if you check out the Assassin's Creed subreddit it's hanging out near the top if you are curious.

Rake in bonus cash and XP in Whitechapel all weekend long.
Go back to the site of some of your first action in London and scrape up a little extra money on the side. This weekend (Dec 4-7) the Frye twins will be called on to investie a mysterious and deadly new threat stalking the alleyways of Whitechapel.

While you’re there complete any “income activities” (carriage hijack/escort, carriage race, or fight club) in Whitechapel to reap an extra 25% cash and XP for your efforts. So hijack a carriage, race through the streets, and dive into the fighting pits all weekend long. We’ll make it worth your while.

Read this on this Assassin's Creed Facebook page just now.

Does this mean the DLC is coming this weekend? Wasn't Jack the Ripper in Whitechapel?

Just purchased this on PC. Really looking forward to some lighthearted fun, everyone seems to love it and I really did enjoy Black Flag.

Hey fellow gaffers help me, this game is on a really good discount right now here in Brazil(PC version), and i am really tempted to buy it, big question, is the season pass worth it? i ask this because i have been out of touch to anything regarding AC lately so i have no idea whats coming next and the Gold edition is just 12% more expensive than the base game.
worth or not?

I've decided this game is where I will begin my backlog. I finished sequence 5 and Im level 7. So far and its easily my favorite since Brotherhood. So impressed with what they've done, I think the twins are terrific and its really just a fun game. It's hard to not have a good time while playing this.

I would say probably not in most cases as in single player games it's generally better to buy the main, story DLC separately unless you want a fuck load of add-ons, but at the same time if it's only 12% more... The Jack the Ripper DLC might be pretty cool but again it'll likely be more of the same and if you don't like the gameplay of the main game then you probably won't like that either.

thanks for the input, i guess i am going to grab the Gold Edition, i was not aware of any Jack the Ripper DLC coming in the future, so i guess its worth, its a good discount anyway.

The music in this game is so freaking beautiful sometimes, that swelling classical piece that sometimes comes on as you're exploring.

I'm enjoying this a lot so far.

What about the music playing when you're doing the missions to rescue the child workers in the factory :D..

I'm up to 7.5hrs played so far, which is the most time I've ever put into an Assassin's Creed game. Somehow they just hit the magic on this one and it's just FUN to play. Imagine that, lol.

The OST is incredible in Syndicate but the actual integration into the gameplay is questionable at times. It fits the whimsical/mischievous vibe of the game perfectly though and the music when you're chasing people is so good.

I finally entered the
WWI portal
not knowing what to expect. Holy shit. (mid-ish game spoiler)

Edit: I really recommend against downloading any of the DLC gear. Any time you switch characters it acts like it's new to your inventory and you'll have to go hover over it to get the "!" to go away.

So, do we know if we'll have to have played through the campaign in order to unlock and play the DLC properly? Or will it be launched separately from the main menu? I can't remember how Unity did it, but I think it was separate?

Just curious, since I'm selling one version and picking up another to play through it.

I don't know how Syndicate will do it, but I remember Unity being accessed within the game, not as a separate choice in the main menu a la Freedom Cry or The Tyranny of King Washington.

Perhaps an odd question, but has anyone compiled the songs from Syndicate not included in the OST?

For instance, the music in the
WWI
portion of the game is not on the purchasable OST, as far as I can tell. There is also some music peppered throughout the game here and there that I couldn't find on the soundtrack. With past AC releases, fans have done a pretty good job of compiling these "unreleased" tracks (ACIII being a notable example). Has anyone does this for Syndicate yet?

I got the game yesterday and I'm enjoying it a lot so far.
Just a few questions:

Some of those side missions have optional(?) green goals. Like when you have to rescue children from the factories and kill the overseer.
So far I was sneaking around, rescuing the children first so that this goal gets checked off and then kill the overseer, which can get complicated when the overseer is walking around a group of children.
So I was wondering. Can I just kill the overseer/guards and this will finish the rescue part as well? It would make sense logically but I don't want to mess up anything and never tried.
Same question with the gang hideouts with the captured gang member. I always let one guard live, rescue the gang member and only then kill the last one so that both objectives are completed. Do I have to do that or are they free as well just by killing all the guards?

Can you replay missions? You could in the previous games but I can't find it in the menu.
And can you replay those side objectives? The hideouts and factories etc are so much fun.

Are the story missions from the season pass locked to a certain character or can you play as either Evie or Jacob? The description for the long night mission mentions that it's for Jacob. But the Last Maharaja and Jack the Ripper don't say anything. I would like to play those with Evie. I was thinking about buying the season pass but not sure if I need 3 more Jacob missions if they are locked to him.

You can do the objectives in any order. I generally take out all the guards and leader in the factory then rescue the children.

Edit: actually now I see what you mean. There's usually one "main" objective which in gang strongholds is kill X number, in children rescue it's X number of children. The side objectives need to be done before the main ones.

I seem to have forgot that you can switch between characters in the pause menu, after playing almost entirely as Jack. I'm so relieved actually. I was thinking to myself when am I going to play as Evie, all the missions are with Jacob.

Disappointed in the day/night cycle in a way. Day's too long, night very short. I hope they make them the same length in a future patch. The game just looks as awesome at night. Everything just looks completely different and feels like a whole new environment. Plus you get all the weirdos that come out ;).

I love switching to this game after getting playing something like Fallout 4. Even just to do nothing like walk around on foot or climb up to a roof top to admire the view. It's very relaxing.

Interesting. The colouring is confusing. Rescuing children and gang members are both written in green, that's why I had assumed they are both side objectives. But not sure if the colour even means anything.
Good to know that you can kill the guards before rescuing the children. Thanks :)
