Awesome shots of the Xbox Elite controller

Switches are for the hair trigger. They allow you to have a much shorter movement when you fire in FPSes.

Except that every modern shooter has a software limit on how it registers trigger presses so they are useless. In some games like Destiny you can't even shoot your gun because it requires full trigger travel.

I'm a stickler for detail, that gap between the shoulder buttons and triggers is unforgivable.

Yeah that hurts my eyeballs a bit too. It's a minor quibble though really on an otherwise beautiful creation!

Looks so damn sick. Can't wait to get one. I always thought the xb1 controller needed a little more weight like how the 360 controller felt once it had the chat pad attached.

The added weight of this thing is much welcome I agree. Couple it with the new Chatpad and it will be even nicer.

You can override that in the controller app.

True, but it still gives you a physical limit which is going to be faster for those who fully depress the trigger when shooting.

Also, as said above, you can program the dead zones on both triggers (and analogues) to your own liking.

The Elite controller changes how games see the trigger. When you put it in the hair trigger mode, destiny will register you hitting the full trigger travel with the shorter distance. That's the whole point of the feature. At least, that's how I assume it's work (I haven't used one myself).

That is one fine ass looking controller.

Wonder what's the production cost, considering its undeniably high quality.

How is the DPad? Easily my biggest issue with the 360 and One pads. 360 was so close to perfection but the DPad was horrific. One is better but still not up to Nintendo or Sony levels IMO.

really, really nice. Would prefer this over Steam controller I think but that price tag really is off putting.

Im sure its worth it just not sure I can justify it, especially considering MKB is still king for FPS

I'm most likely down for one.
If they are in fact more durable that would be awesome.

The controller is so hot the photographer might have had sex with it, leaving all the hair behind.

They are pressable "paddle" buttons, which you can map to various buttons in your control scheme. For example, you could map "jump" to a paddle so you don't have to take your thumb off the right stick to jump like you would have to if it was mapped to A.

Switches are for the hair trigger. They allow you to have a much shorter movement when you fire in FPSes. The other levers are remappable on any other button. For example in halo, if you don't want to move your fingers from the triggers you can remap the bumpers to the bottom levers. Or for example you could use them to sprint/snipe instead of having to push down the analog sticks.

Ah, that seems really useful for stuff like melee or jumps.

Thanks for the replies guys!

If the pc wireless adapter works out well, I'll keep an eye on this. I've switch to the Xbox One controller on PC, and for the most part it's been pretty good. If the extra paddles can be programmed to be additional inputs on PC, keystrokes even, it would really push me off the fence.

$150?!

Really can't believe they aren't giving this thing away.

Thing is selling out at 150, why would they be giving it away?

Did I just fall for something?

Whatever, I'm curious about how the paddles feel, as in how much force they need to activate. I've never used a controller with paddles before and I'm a little worried that I'll accidentally activate the paddles when gripping the controller or something. I don't "grip" controllers when playing, just hold them, but if I'm worried I might tighten when things get intense.

Wow, just wow. Shame I don't game as much as before to justify spending $150 on a controller, but this is truly hands down the best controller ever made.....

Maybe I can justify spending $150 on this....

Nope, too much money, too little time....

Screw it im buying it.... Just not anytime soon....

Perhaps on black Friday.

Sexy looking, but $150 is a bit much for my liking. Outside of fps titles I don't see much use for the extra inputs.

Exactly my thoughts. Amazing how some posts are identical in expression to their avatars haha!

OT - That is one fine looking controller, I can MS having a lite version of this as standard for their next console. They've become quite good at hardware recently no? Surface Pro 4, Surface Book and Xbox Elite Controller.

It's a little strange to me that they removed the IR transmitter. I know kinect users were the minority out there anymore and it's just surprising for a premium product.

I also wish the buttons were still colored.

The only times in games where I could consider them useful outside of FPS games is where you have to hold down a face button to run and still want to be able to control the camera: like Dark Souls, Batman: Arkham whatever, and The Witcher 3.

I remember getting so pissed the eff off in Assassins' Creed 2 where you had to chase someone because they'd always like...quick turn right as you were on them and you either had to stop running to turn the camera or claw it up. They fixed that in Assassins' Creed 3, though.

I thought they removed the IR thingy from all the new controllers, but I was looking at a leaflet in the Halo 5 controller's box and apparently those still have them.
If this controller had the colored buttons, I'd probably take it apart and switch them out...

I really hope it becomes the standard next gen. What they could do is ship the console with a stripped down version, then sell all the extra paddles and sticks as an accessory pack. That would keep costs down.

Of course, the more people buy this, the cost of manufacture will come down anyway.

Sweet. A shame that $150 is a lot of money.

But this looks like the ultimate controller.

Just sell another Pip Boy edition. $150 isn't so much for something that will be used for years.

I'm excited to get this thing on Tuesday! Too bad I had to cancel the wireless adapter since it won't work with the steam link.

Are you confirming this? :)

I thought maybe it wouldn't happen due to the upcoming Chatpad having the feature.

I'd be lying if I said this isn't the sexist controller I've ever seen. I mean the OP pictures are borderline porn

Bad boy is gonna get a lot of use from me between Halo 5 and my PC

Yeah, I have to agree. While this controller isn't something I would ever need, and the price does make me cringe a bit, for those who want something like this... It's just goddamn sexy.

God damn. I want one if just because of the sturdier sticks. But that price tho....

Why the hell aren't the facebuttons coloured? That my only cosmetic complaint.

This has the ability to make that travel half that as well as with the app adjust how the throw of the trigger is registered.
