For the longest, I didn't know how to pronounce Tidus from FFX.
"Tie-dus"? "Tee-dus"?
It's not. lolIf Ryu is Ree-oo and not Rye-you, then why is it sho-rye-you-ken.
His name is Tie-dus, I don't care what anyone from SE says
Jaquio from Ninja Gaiden. Late at night I look at the ceiling and ponder how to pronounce that name.
Yup. I will never acknowledge Teedus.
I had no problem pronouncing the SFII cast's names, EXCEPT Guile. I called him "Gill".
I've never heard that pronunciation. I've only ever heard it the way it's in Bravely Second and on Wikipedia, but yeah, it's does not quite match what I had in mind when I first saw the name.Cu Chulainn is pronounced Ku Sholin
Because it's not. LmaoIf Ryu is Ree-oo and not Rye-you, then why is it sho-rye-you-ken.
Yup. I will never acknowledge Teedus.
Ja-qu-io?
Jackio?
Jaq-io?
I give up
It's actually just a really weird romanization of the Japanese Jaki Ou, meaning Devil King. You'd say it Jah-kee Oh.

We've taken it back. Now, jo away.A lot of people say pronounce "gif" wrong.
Gif as in giraffe.
Not gif as in gift.
His name is Tie-dus, I don't care what anyone from SE says
Everyone knows Tide-us sounds better in English. They just can't decide whether to be pedantic or not.In KH1, Wakka pronounces it Tee-dus, but in KH2, Selphie pronounces it Tie-dus. Even they can't decide.
None of these things are true.If Ryu is Ree-oo and not Rye-you, then why is it sho-rye-you-ken.
there are 5 basic vowel sounds in Japanese:
a = "ah", between the 'a' in "father" and the one in "dad"
i = "ee", as in "feet"
u = "oo" in "boot"
e = "ay", as in "hay"
o = "oh"
I used to say Choo-coo-boo.
I'm still not sure exactly how I'm supposed to say "Nei" from Phantasy Star II. I say it like knee, but... *shrug*
Even with voice acting I was surprised when I watched on the on-disc trailer for FFX and the narrator mentioned Tee-dus.
He's still Tie-dus to me, damnit
Yes! Though to be fair we didn't even bother over here in France. It's not like we know anything about Gaelic and Irish and whatever. They were just funny names - that I found fascinating and unique. Hibernia FTW tbh.
If you would be so kind, how do you pronounce the following locations in the game?
- Mag Mell Maw Mal
- Connacht Konunkt
- Howth ignore the "w", pronouncing the ho like "hoe"
- Connla Konluh
- Lough Derg Lock Durrg
- Cave of Cruachan
- Muire Tomb Mwi-rah ui becomes wi
- Spraggon Den is there meant to be an accent over a vowel here somewhere? that would alter the pronunciation
- Treibh Caillte Trayv Kyle-chi (short i sound, more like "uh")
- Emain Macha no idea lol
Sorry but I gotta know, after all these years.
Pretty much. Back when I was a kid, I distinctly remember my brother telling me that Fireman, the Mega Man 1 robot master, was pronounced "Fi-er-man", and me responding "but you can also say "Feerman"!" Little shit me was so sure of himself too :lol.
Cu Chulainn is pronounced Ku Sholin
Scatach - Ska-hahh
