Black Wii, Red NDSi

Holy mother of God... it's almost as though overnight Iwata decided to do a pre-emptive bitchslap on Sony. :lol

am i the only one that though this was a port of black to the wii. would be pretty cool if it could match xbox visuals and have a competent fps control scheme. with all the awesome reload animations it and gunlove included in the game, it'd be so much more immersive with a more tactile control scheme.

Could Nintendo simply "turn off" their protection on WFC saves & Channels though? Maybe only between systems registered on the same Club Nintendo account, but even then, they only allow you to register each system once. This is why, I believe, a mid-gen jump from Wii to Wii+ or WiiHD won't happen anytime soon. For people who simply want to switch from white to black, sucks for them!

No. The shop account is controlled by each Wii individually. The only way your system knows what you have downloaded or not is that it maintains a list of tickets. These are of course encrypted on the flash RAM so they can't be altered but that is how the licensing works.

Nintendo probably has specific shop records in addition to Club Nintendo but neither have anything to do with licenses. The whole rumor that if you register your games on Club Nintendo they can be recovered is completely false, you'd be given the same service eitherway. Nintendo has in special circumstances made exceptions to some people to recover games (ie your Wii was stolen and you had to buy a new one) but these are very rare and are not a normal part of the DRM process.

To get around this they would need to alter the Wii's basic DRM security which is a tall order though not impossible.

I can't believe Nintendo actually went ahead and murdered the competition like this. Dragon Quest and Monster Hunter within weeks of eachother.

And I kind of wish they had gone the steam route for wii online stuff. Tie it to an account, not a console.

They weren't fucking kidding about reinvigorating the Japanese market.

I don't expect to see Black Wii's in the US until 2010.

I guess the questionmarks mean level up while you walk, when not playing.

It is probably an update of that old tamagochi-style thingy but this time just using the new pedometer developed last year along with the new black infra-red cart.

I'm gonna buy a Black Japanese wii, and transplant my Wii into it.

I suppose the main question in regards to the black Wii is....what are they going to do with all the software SKU's that have white peripherals as standard?

Are they now going to have to switch all peripheral based software into 2 SKU's.

Will they release Wii Sports Resort, Mario Kart, Links Crossbow training, Wii Play and Wii Fit in black?

Are games like Red Steel 2 now going to come with black and white Wii MotionPlus units?

Well, sounds like they didn't mind dating and pricing a game just 20 days before its release, bad me for doubting, must be a new record though. Some expected hardware news too, I guess they aren't ever going to do a pricedrop, are they?

Red DSi alongside DQIX, but no bundle, 6th color already (I wonder if SCEJ feels threatened they just have 7 PSP3000 colors available...:lol ). One thing this very likely means is that there's no way DQIX slips its release date again, bad me again for doubting Square-Enix commitment to launches.

Holy fuck at the MH3 bundles, they went all out (like SCEJ with MGS4, I guess you have to do good use of your moneyhats). Game 7000Y, Game+CCP 8000Y in two colors and console bundle at 33000Y (no real savings, typical nintendo :/). Black accesories and the console standalone too.

And I left the best for the end, Wii Sports Resort coming in just 20 days, at just 4800Y. It must include a (1500Y separately) white MotionPlus so its a freaking incredible price, very surprised at this honestly. We have seen more expensive budget re-releases lol. I guess August 1 will also see a separate black motionplus for color issues.

Could have had some other software announcement taking advantage of MotionPlus (not only gaming-wise but bundle-wise or even just companion wise) but I guess WSR is more than enough.

There is a saving of 1340Yen for the Bundle:lol

On second check, I think it is 490Y?
Black Wii - 25,000Y
MH3 + Black CCP - 8490Y
Bundle - 33,000Y

Separately would be 33490Y, so 490Y saving? :p

I talked too soon about other software taking advantage of MotionPlus release, because I just saw in GAMEWatch that Grand Slam Tennis will be out on the 2nd of July, at 6090Y (no bundle I guess though?).

Definitely waiting for a U.S releases. The black Wii is a no brainer. I can see the red DSi as something like a target exclusive or in a one time only holiday bundle.

So, are we going to adjust expections? Wii Sports Resort, Monster Hunter with a Black Wii, Wii Fit Plus, and New Super Mario Bros, all in 2009.

Does anyone still think PS3 has a shot at beating Wii this year?

Dual Shock style grips on the classic controller pro and the Z buttons have been moved below the L and R? Pretty nice if you ask me.
