SEGMENT ONE: What if the Nazis had iPads?

Doug, Robert, and Kevin have a loose discussion about educational programming (with a particular focus on history), touching on school films, The History Channel, NPR, and our own favorite time periods. Also some (non-spoiler) discussion about the HBO series The Pacific.

Once you get past the hell of names and dates that pre-collegiate schooling presents and into the why and how, history becomes infinitely more interesting. It's pretty much the largest and deepest novel ever conceived, and you happen to be at the end of it. There's always personal drama or class tension involved, and history classes just sterilize it.

I'm personally a total sucker for PBS documentaries and programming, even for completely random subjects. I once sat and watched an hour about the first transatlantic telegraph line. The problem is that I never bother to keep track of the schedule for my local PBS stations, so my discovery of these programs is whenever I get the whim to turn on the TV and find that something happens to be on.
