She Is Cait, and I Am Not: Face to Face With Jenner

Lock if old

The Advocate&#8220 said:
I like Ted Cruz,” she declares. “I think he’s very conservative and a great constitutionalist and a very articulate man. I haven’t endorsed him or anything like that. But I also think, he’s an evangelical Christian, and probably one of the worst ones when it comes to trans issues.”

“I get it. The Democrats are better when it comes to these types of social issues. I understand that.” So why support Republicans? “Number 1, if we don’t have a country, we don’t have trans issues. We need jobs. We need a vibrant economy. I want every trans person to have a job. With $19 trillion in debt and it keeps going up, we’re spending money we don’t have. Eventually, it’s going to end. And I don’t want to see that. Socialism did not build this country. Capitalism did. Free enterprise. The people built it. And they need to be given the opportunity to build it back up.”

Jenner reveals she met Cruz prior to her transition, more than a year ago, “and he was very nice.”

“Wouldn’t it be great, let’s say he goes on to be president,” she tells me in relating a conversation on the tour bus. “And I have all my girls on a trans issues board to advise him on making decisions when it comes to trans issues. Isn’t that a good idea?”

“You’re going to be Ted Cruz’s trans ambassador?” I respond.

“Yes, trans ambassador to the president of the United States, so we can say, ‘Ted, love what you’re doing but here’s what’s going on.'”

I really dont get this fiscal conservative shit. End of the day youre supporting a party that will do everything in its power to make sure you dont get shit...Which means you wont see any of that perceived benefit to you or those within your marginalized group.

I'm not entirely sure about the US but in Australia self-proclaimed "fiscal conservatives" usually carve structural holes in the budget for votes and short-term monetary gains to give the appearance of surplus, then 3-6 years later (after being voted out) use the fact that their own budgetary chickens are coming home to roost to attack the opposition.

lol I never seen so much reaching. If we don't have a country, really? And which party pursued a war that led to a significant amount of that debt?

How can she support a person that despises every fiber of her being?

I mean yeah, sure, money, but...

Fuck... money.

I know in Canada that's a thing as well. It's generally the dems that have a surplus and not conservatives. I wouldnt be surprised if it's the same in the US

But public perception and all....

Same way it works everywhere, and when you do spend money, it's your friends' way.

They don't even bother with that here. They just cut taxes and don't cut spending.

This shouldn't be surprising. She was on Ellen a while back and came out against gay marriage.

But the most bizarre thing about this is that for some reason she (and other Republicans) seem to forget that we had the biggest economic crash since the Great Depression on a Republican president's watch.

You would think this would be an important detail...

It'd be one thing if she was in denial (which she is if she thinks she can change Ted Cruz's mind) but she seems to be fully aware of his stance on trans rights and concerns.

Lol don't expect any sense from Caitlyn Jenner over her politics.

The very definition of a hardcore conservative. Her money protects her from anything else that affects other people.

Must be nice.

Is the country about to explode or something. Like, when I wakeup tomorrow there's a chance America won't exist?

Why is it that everytime I hear her name, it's always bad news that affects LGBT rights. She never really experienced the struggles a majority of the LGBT did because she's bloody rich, so of course her endorsement wouldn't affect her in the slightest.

I actually wonder if Jenner endorsing Cruz wouldn't be some sort of poison chalice among conservatives, much the same way all of the endorsements Jeb got only pushed people further onto Trump.

“Number 1, if we don’t have a country, we don’t have trans issues. We need jobs. We need a vibrant economy. I want every trans person to have a job."

A great way to ensure this is to support a candidate (and a party) who are vehemently opposed to nationwide LGBT anti-discrimination laws.

Caitlyn pls.

Doesn't job growth only happen when Dems are in charge lately?

What does this even mean? How would you measure this? Are you talking about unemployment? Size of workforce? Median income? How do you even peg the time for "when Dems are in charge", given that most job metrics lag? Does your "lately" include the census in 2010? What is "in charge"? President? President + one house of Congress? Two?

This is like if I said that David Duke would make a great candidate for president. How can you champion for people that don't even want to recognize you as human?
