Crytek UK artist recreates BioShock environments in CryEngine 3

I wonder how long it took him to make those enviroments (In the OP.)?

"Professional" games basically "require" teams of 100 people, along with many, many millions of dollars and years of development time at the moment -- not to mention that they are already saying that future games will cost a lot more and require more people -- yet with an engine (Which many development teams also start out with nowadays.), the results of 1 dedicated person compared to a huge team aren't all that different. Atleast not as different as anyone would expect.

I'm not just referring to the OP; there are obviously many more factors to consider, like many more levels/models, NPC's, scripting, voice acting, A.I, physics, animation -- but still, there are entire games made by 1 person out there.
Some examples please

Rapture is such a cool environment, doesn't surprise me at all that it inspires other artists to give rendering it a shot.

We all know that CryEngine is superior to the UE in terms of capabilities and it's a shame it was used so little this generation.

Looks the same.
"Why improve on tech and go for better graphics if the fanbase is blind anyway?"

I love CE, heck ive been working with CE3 since the SDK came out, but is CE really that Superior to UE....especially when you consider CE3.4 is still pretty new.

Engine doesn't make much difference visually, if it's running the same assets/designed to look the same.

It looks the same, pretty much, which was the intention.

http://www.starwraith.com/evochronmercenary/ + several other titles in the Evochron universe.

Made by 2 people, or more, but still (More of an Engine.): http://outerra.com/

several at http://www.moddb.com/

Of the most recent games at moddb.com, Starmade seems to be quite ambitious. And I wasn't trying to say that indie projects, or projects by small teams are like AAA games -- relatively, when considering that AAA games are made by 100 people in many cases with millions of dollars, they are extremely similar.

Even in a side by side comparison, Call of Duty MW3 sp, for example, is extremely similar to any popular sp modifcation for any popular FPS game that is moddable, excluding graphics and scripted events.

Games with a smaller budget/less people tend to be more "janky"; ie they excel in some areas but suffers in other such as animation, voice acting, A.I, physics, graphics.
