Literally every single fan-casting for the next Bond just strikes me as so dull and uninspired.

Hopefully they'll go for a comparative unknown who could actually use the opportunity to launch their career, as opposed to already hugely successful Tom Hiddleston type.

They have never cast a pre-established film star before (they have cast those with fairly popular tv shows, but no one who has broken through in movies). And there is no reason to assume they will suddenly start.

Yes. No Bond picked has been someone who has built an established movie career already. Established TV actor at most. And even then it's not like Roger Moore on the Saint or Brosnan on Remington Steele were worldwide mega hit sort of shows.

Whoever the next Bond will be after Craig is done when the next film comes out around 2022 or so is not going to be someone you have liked from films already. Likely whoever it will be is someone right now in their 30's who has appeared in some random BBC or other western European tv dramas.
