Now what's the next step in your master plan?
In fairness, the only people getting aggressive are those who pretend that they're animals.

You realize your posts are some of the most aggressive and condescending in the entire thread, right? In fact I'd say you basically derailed the thread after your post as we're not talking about the events detailed in the OP and their fall out.

I don't believe Adolf would approve.

Probably because people are always antagonistic to us. Some Timedog ribbing is fine, but we're not obligated to take the shit of people like Mr. Simon Belmont, especially when we do a better job of making a welcoming environment for minorities than gamers do. But then gamers wanna try and start shit.

Seriously, as a black woman what has the gaming community done for me lately? Brush off my concerns of sexism and racism for bullshit libertarian arguments about why those necessary for gaming to thrive? Meanwhile, this past weekend I've had furries I haven't seen in years run up to me and give me a hug just because they remembered we had a good chat together.

Furries are weirdos, but gamers are honestly more malicious all around. So miss me with this "Why y'all so aggressive?" shit until y'all fix Gamergate.

Edit: I just remembered you're the person who keeps arguing that Trump won because of liberal elitism and not racism.

Condescending yes, aggressive no. I'm more than willing to die on the hill of furries being weird.

Well let's see about that...

Nah, let's just be adults about this. It is absolutely weird behaviour and not in the least bit surprising that it fragments into all kinds of sinister shit. I understand that Neogaf has a sizeable contingent of these characters, but normal behaviour it is not.

It really is that weird, and that shit is weird too. We're all quite liberal and accepting of all kinds of things but sometimes shit is just weird stuff for weirdos. This is one of them.

This isn't that though is it. This is a bunch of nerds with various repressions and emotional instabilities who are acting out amongst each other to various extremes of sex and fantasy, in a time when they could alternatively seek help for their conflicted self.

And yet somehow Furries are possibly the most uncomfortable bunch of them all

In fairness, the only people getting aggressive are those who pretend that they're animals.

Aggressive yes. Dude, why do you even devote such animosity towards a group of people who have embraced their own weirdness?

Next you're gonna say all furries are mentally ill.

You missed the part where he already did that.

do you ever take a second and consider why you feel the need to be an unrepentant dick

when you are splitting hairs between aggression and condescension (which i posit can easily be seen as a form of aggression because it implies that you are of a higher status and are looking down on others, which is going to trigger defensive behavior much like aggression) i sincerely wonder about your overall character as a person

These threads always crack me up, people get so upset whenever "furries" get mentioned like.. man. Yall got nothing else more important to worry about?

This stuff is so weird. I thought the furry community and the LGBT community had a lot of overlap, so there being a relatively strong neo-nazi part of that community is kinda bizzare. Then again, I guess that when a community is of a certain size those kind of element will always rear their ugly head.

Also, man,

It's almost like these people aren't that mentally healthy on the whole.

Of course the worst, most downtrodden dorkwads need to find excuses to feel superior to others.

If you are a furry you have literally no business looking down on anybody. Absolute bottom rung.

I'm sorry you missed out on your yiffing.

Some of these comments are pretty terrible. Especially the last one. If you seriously think being a furry puts you at the bottom of the ladder, so below racists, nazi's, homophobes, sexsists etc. you REALLY need to rethink the priorities you use when judging people.

It's some straight up 4chan behavior. I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone throw out a "Yiff in hell," yet. Just vile.

There's not a strong element of Nazis. It's one group in Colorado of probably less than 100 people. It's just they're very vocal and active online, and they were intricately linked to this particular convention.

The rest of the fandom would love to shut them all up, but one can't exactly restrict them from using the internet and wearing horrible home made carpet monsters.

Furry is a community that prides itself on tolerance, which Nazis took to mean an infinite moral patience for their shit; same way the alt-right in general tries to argue normal people down. Joke's on them- We punch Nazis.

Mr. Simon Belmont threw a yiff joke at my best friend, so we basically hit a bingo.

furry isnt really pretending to be animals most of the time tho, more like interest in and occasionally pretending to be an anthropomorphic imaginary representation of a real or imagined animal

most of the time

its just the aesthetics and art eh

Wait... are they pretending to be Nazis while pretending to be animals or are they really nazis.

I've gotten a bunch a randos on twitter telling me that they're actually all LARPers, but kinda hard to tell the difference when they all spout the same hateful ideology of normal Nazis.

So, for sake of simplicity, they're all actually Nazis.

I didn't know there were all these furry factions, i don't know if i should be scared or fascinating

They're generally a lot of fun and are a lot less creepy than you'd think. It's a bummer that RMFC got cancelled though... do people really have nothing better to do than act like assholes and ruin the fun for everyone else?!

It's important to remember everybody is a fucking weirdo.

That's just how the world is.

People that hate on furries or anybody cause it's "too weird" are just being dumb. Their thing isn't for you, move along with your life instead of paying enough thought to someone or something that you ostensibly seem to hate.

Yeah if furries were really pretending to be animals they'd all be doing a really shitty job at it.

It's not really a strong part of the community, it's probably a small group who are too loud.

And it doesn't really surprise me that there are some nazis in a fandom that champions inclusivity. I mean, Milo is gay, but that didn't stop him from being an alt-right dickhead who made bashing minorities a career.

I don't think anyone should be shocked that a loosely connected group who's secondary commonality is socializing on the internet, would have a few fascists thrown into the mix.

Furries likely have the highest percentage of LGBT self-identifying members out of any fandom, but there is no subgroup immune to a greater neo-nazi movement pervasive to all internet-based groups.

OK, thanks for the clarification. I remember another thread about this, so I thought this maybe could be a bigger part of the community. Good to hear that is not the case and it is just a small group of fuckwads ruining it for the rest.

It was that thread or another furry thread that got infiltrated by, well, furries. I visited the Furrygaf thread that was so graciously linked by a furry and saw that a user had directly linked to hardcore porn involving Kass (Zelda: BotW). I called that user out, they got banned, and now they are unbanned!! I just don't understand how someone can openly post porn on a 13+ forum and not get perma banned.

Not to mention I still fuckin think about that wack ass shit when I'm doing shrine quests

Don't get me wrong, I understand this sucks and that posting porn (or linking to it without any clear warning) has no place in this forum, but the thought of you playing zelda, enjoying yourself, and then hearing the Kass music and basically going like this:

kinda cracks me up ;)

Now THOSE are some weirdo's. But given that I don't particularly care for that group, I'll just, gasp.

Move on and continue doing so.

God that was hard.

But Frozen, how are you going to attain maximum satisfaction if you don't actively target and insult them too?

God damn this is like four levels of "degenerate".

Someone consult the Onion, see if they're okay.
I can't believe this shit is real news lol. The Foxler part had me wondering really hard whether I was in an alternate dimension or not. I refuse to believe someone would do all those things. An armband with a paw print? What?

Okay the ONE THING I will get on about furry events and such (dated a few so I'm not totally blind to stuff).

Personal Space.

Tho this is more a con issue in general but fur events especially.

I think it's getting better, but a big thing we stress is indeed personal space despite Furries being ironically very touchy.

A lot of it stems from the fact that fursuiters have shit vision. If you want to interact with us but run up to us from any angle except basically the front, you're going to throw us off guard and potentially hurt us, so people are taught how to wave a suiter down. Another thing is that because we overheat extremely easily, sometimes we don't have time to really deal with anyone in lieu of getting to the headless lounge (a place to take off the head and cool off without breaking character). So, it's stressed for suiter safety to both communicate your desire to photograph or hug anyone with clear and obvious intent, and to understand when no means no. Pile on top of this our reputation for being just one hair shy of outright rapists and whatnot, and we're all that more inclined to ask for consent to do anything.

I went to FWA this past weekend and I didn't really get harassed (except by one drunk dude, but I mean, he was drunk), and the behavior that's been preached towards fursuiters has disseminated down into general interactions as well. As they say, "the hug is the furry handshake," but we will definitely be inclined to ask you if you want one if we don't know you. I mean, we have a vested interest in people being comfortable with us and being understanding. Why ruin the trust we have with shitty behavior? Again, the fandom is basically celebrating this con going under because fuck a con if it's being run by Nazis.

You are right that cons in general seem to be a place where socially awkward and perverted dudes think it's their time to shine, but I feel like at this point in the lifespan of geekdom and convention-going, you're liable to have the same time at a furry con as you would an anime convention.
Come to the furry con though. We've got drinks and badass dancers.

Personal Space.

Tho this is more a con issue in general but fur events especially.

1) Inappropriate touching
2) Sharing WAAAY too much detail with strangers
3) Lack of personal hygiene amongst some pungent outliers

Fix these things and I'd really consider going to another con with furries.

Not super mature, I regret it.

Well, to be fair the people I was specifically referring to were both racists and nazis, which probably means they're the other two as well.

But to be more fair I mean the bottom of the nerd ladder, just below LARPers. I'm sorry if I offended, I definitely could have worded it better.

Maybe accepting that we're all weird is a better position than trying to claim a hierarchy. It's just shitty condescension.
