I know a fair amount of people that would be considered famous. Mostly SNL or late night comedians and writers. But it's not exactly weird since I knew them while they were hustling to get where they are. Its not like knowing someone from school who later went on to do something crazy.

I was cool with Kevin Hart in High School. We used to ride the bus and the train together for a while. Even then he was a funny dude.

I got brought up on stage with Carrot Top before he was famous, he was just doing dumb magic. Won I Super Nintendo at that party. Hindsight I figure that was constellation for dealing with Carrot Top

Went to school, with a 'popular' British pop artist. School also was home to an actor who moved to America. And a gentleman who became well known for joining a terrorist cell.

I knew Kermit when he was a piece of green felt and two Ping-Pong balls.

Nah, i got nothing. I did once almost get run over by Colin Baker (Dr Who) but that was a few years ago.

Craaap, I knew Dick from The Famous Five back in the 90s. Forgot about him.

I was in school with a guy who plays international sport and I knew a girl when I was younger who is a fairly small time actress but has featured in some dramas on national TV (I'm from somewhere much smaller than the US).

So basically, no.

A primary school friend's dad was a world famous jazz musician (world famous in those circles), think a saxophonist either exclusively or mainly. Surname Taylor. Edit: googled and found him, he's Martin Taylor (MBE). And he is a jazz guitarist actually.

Apparently my friend's family dined with the Clintons (around about the time of his presidency!). Never kept in touch with him cos we went to different secondary schools. My friend became a jockey but for whatever reason committed suicide in his late teens I believe. Pretty sad.

Was classmates with Pharoah Monch and Prince Po, they were known as Organized Konfusion back in the day. Also Kwame, with the polka dots, and Mr. Complex, all rappers I used to make beats with banging on the tables at lunch time in high school. I also was classmates with a uber talented guy named James Parris, who has done special effects work for movies like Avatar, Spider-Man, games like Mass Effect, all kinds of stuff. He also has his own film company, Paper Tiger Films. My high school, Art and Design in Manhattan, spawned some high profile talent for sure.

Pretty cool. I haven't thought of Mr. Complex for a long time. I still have a couple of his 12"s. I was way into OK of course also. I wasn't as big a fan of Kwame though. Haha

Jade Yorker. Hung out with him and his brother Diamond for months when I went up to Jersey to take care of sick grandmother. I was a dropout at the time and seventeen, it was awesome later on when I was watching Gridiron Gang and noticed him as the running back. Not sure what he's done since that but he worked hard on acting/rapping. Was glad to see he made it. If I stayed we for sure would of been best friends. I've tried a couple times to get in touch but no success.

I went to the same school as a girl who became a minor celebrity by participating in a Portuguese singing contest show on TV and after that had some minor roles in soap operas.

Oft hope is born when all is forlorn.
Girl from my highschool became a playboy model and I just found out a month or so ago. I didnt know her personally but taked to her couple of times lol

My Grandfather was in the Guinness Book Of Records for the most world championship wins at croquet. Yes, croquet. He was obviously the Michael Schumacher of the croquet world, although somewhat less famous. He did bring out a book on croquet, I have it on my coffee table atm.

A guy who used to be my best friend back then got known all around our capital for selling drugs big style. Don't know if this counts.

My cousin from my mom's side. Though shes not that big she's been on House, breaking bad, some other TV shows and had her first start in an independent film.

Also dated a girl who became a porn star after we parted ways. Posted that story here on GAF years ago.

Didn't "know" him, but I met rapper Riff Raff at a mall in Dallas. He was passing out his mixtape, this was around 2005.

He was pretty chill.

Someone from my elementary school signed on with a label headed by a decently famous artist. They were also injured at a concert.

Not naming since I didn't like them, cannot imagine fame improved their personality.

I met kids from Justin Bieber's school, they claim he smoked pot a lot.

I went to play C64 few times at this kid's place from my school. 25 years later he happend to be one of the most vicious serial killers in my country. I hope I've nothing to do with it :p

Maybe not super famous or anything but I have a few good friends from the philly indie scene. We all used to hang out every day. Notable ones are:

Joe Reinhart - guitarist for Hop Along. Seems like they're getting pretty popular lately.

Tj deblois - was the drummer for a life once lost. After he quit the band blew up a little.

Peter helmis - I can't even keep track of all the bands he has going on but ive always said he's destined to be huge.

Coincidentally those 3 all played a lot together in halfway to Holland. Also worth noting algernon cadwallader.

One of my classmates in Primary School played for the National Norwegian Hockey Team. Sadly I don't follow that sport to know whether he made it big or not.

Is there a good reason people aren't mentioning names?

I can't remember his name lol

I'm close friends with the drummer in Speedy Ortiz. He's already uncomfortable with me saying this.

And hes not famous, shit.

Saw the band 4 times live, I like the drummer

Don't like the band live though, I just happen to see them live so many times because of bands I like supports them

This guy I've known since elementary school is a professional cliff diver and is on the Red Bull circuit. Not really a friend though.

Not sure if that falls under famous, but that's all I got.

I actually worked with a fella that was drafted into the Arizona DiamondBacks. I'll see if I can get my boss to remember his name, it's been almost ten years ago.

Someone else in town was picked for some B movie last year that worked at the Starbucks.

A guy I went to school with ended up with his own porno company out in California. From what I can tell his company is one of the big players in the industry. I wouldn't say we were friends, but we were friendly.

I was a good friend of the 2006 Miss Universe. Now I barely speak with her. Also know Miguel Cotto, really awesome dude.

He's not super famous or anything, but I realized a couple years ago that the ESPN reporter Marty Smith was a good friend of mine way back in middle school 25 years ago.
