Ok, I guess this isn't a big deal. "National Day of Patriotic Devotion" sounds weird, but the main offense was that he declared his inauguration day a holiday. If all recent presidents have done the same then this is just some weird ceremonial shit that nobody pays attention to. That's probably why there's zero coverage of this.
This is every day for the next 4-8 years.

That guy needs a good punch to the head.

The last few presidents have done this also. Trump does the same thing and people start raging.
I fell for it. Honestly it's hard to know what is common and uncommon. People reporting every fucking thing Trump does is taking away from the actual problematic things he's doing. I'm gonna take a break from Trump threads.

If I ever become President (not likely, but if this country can elect Trump...), I'd totally just declare my Inauguration Day "National Day of Appreciating How Big The President's Cock Is."

It's like a little kid wants to be the president for a day but instead he sits there for 4 years.

I feel bad for you, America :(

If he gets to pick his national holidays, nothing you can do, folks, Although the Second Amendment people — maybe there is, I don’t know.

disturbing language aside, the idea itself is pretty normal

I can't find any before HW

and yes, I realize Trump's has an Orwellian name and a nationalist message. My only point was that it is apparently normal for Presidents to celebrate their own inauguration this way

Bush's isn't much less disturbing than Trump's, really.

Yeah now that I see this is a regular thing for presidents to do I regret making this thread. The name he chose is a bit weird but this is far from surreal North Korean nightmare it appears to be.

Should've called it National Small Hands Acceptance Day, a day to reflect on the challenges the child-handed face everyday in America.

Maybe the OP can be updated. The florid language of "the year of our lord" is also a staple of past declarations.

Don't see the problem. On January 20th, I devoted myself to the patriotic cause of working to stop everything this man stands for.

Turns out this action actually is a common tradition for new presidents
