You are disgusting NBC. How exactly is Donald Trump even remotely still associated with any of their programming? They saw him win the election and pretty much went crawling back, didn't they?

Its not just NBC. CBS came out this election and said Trump was good for them(ratings), but bad for the country.

Remain as Executive Producer? That means he is not prioritising to his presidency and also want to keep his name on everything even on things that won't make any business difference.

*smh... America, YOU picked him. Going to have to rock that cradle.

Shout out to The Apprentice production staffs for never leaking those audio tapes.

Shout out to the FCC for regulating television and the internet while also reporting directly to a reality TV mogul.

Shout out to NBC News, MSNBC, and CNBC who will now be reporting on the Trump presidency every day while also having financial and professional interests in his television show.

Shout out to Trump for being the most unqualified president in American history and managing multiple jobs at once.

At this point, it is absolutely disgusting how we are clearly enabling this man's mental disorder.

Basically, he doesn't give a fuck.

I still don't get it. You guys had a third candidate that was more sound than Trump and Hilary combined. Regardless of what Trump said, he had DO NOT TRUST written all over his face. Why pick a person that do have DO NOT TRUST written all over his face and proved it to be so throughout his campaign? Now look what's happening. Just madness...

I think Trump is smart. He knew how America really operates and took advantage. He knew that many people can talk and talk and talk, and just like he said, he can grab a girl's poom poom and you will STILL make him president despite all the complaints and arguments. Now look. What can anyone say to that?! Nothing. Absolutely nothing for the proof is in the pudding. There is NOTHING anyone can say other than the system is truly rigged. Nothing.

If Sanders counts as a third candidate, what about the hundreds of Republican primary opponents? Unless you mean Johnson.

This motherfucker needs every brain cell he has focused on not being a terrible president.

Can you imagine the shit the right would have talked if Obama had a side hustle?

This. All of this is absolute insanity and it's actually happening.

How is this even possible. A sitting president is working on a TV show?

Agreed. Can't believe we are stuck in this, it's fucking painful to watch.

This has nothing to do with NBC wanting Trump's name in the show. Trump sued NBC immediately after their decision to sever from him. Does no one remembers that? That's because we were all too busy laughing at it. But he won that lawsuit. He had clauses in his contracts and breaking them would have likely cost NBC a shit load of money (i.e. millions).

NBC seems to have settled on just continuing the show by giving him an EP credit (which is an EXTREMELY worthless credit, in many cases btw). And all they have to do is pay Trump $20-30K per episode, which is pennies for them, as opposed to having to shell out millions for violating contracts and clauses with him.

The president makes about $570k annually. He's gonna get an extra $660k for at least one season. Jesus.

He turned down the presidential salary. He's opted for $1 two days after election, it was covered pretty widely.

I thought NBC had fired him.

They can fire him, but they likely can't remove any kind of producer stake he has in the show. The alternative would be to create a whole new show with a new (but similar) premise/name, but clearly NBC wants to trade on the hype. They are pretty shameless.

At this point, saying anything is a conflict of interest is a waste of time. It's not anything; it's everything. And the worst part is, those that should hold him accountable are focused on live shots of the lobby of Trump tower and his plane on the tarmac. He's keeping himself at arm's length at all times, and the complaints from the media are incredibly soft. This guy is getting away with multiple things that would destroy anyone else.

This NBC thing should not be a thing. His name doesn't belong there, ex-host or not. He is technically an employee of NBC, so how can they in good conscience bad mouth the President/employee? Now that's the ultimate conflict of interest.

Shout out to you for not understanding how the FCC works. They do not report to the President.

I think there's more to the story. I think he was fired, legal got involved, and they were forced to make him exec producer.

It's not a question of "firing". Trump has an ownership stake or profit participation or something in The Apprentice. He's not an employee, he's an owner of a production that NBC purchases from MGM. The article even says that NBC aren't paying him directly.

I'm curious what you think "legal got involved" means.

Next week on Celebrity Apprentice...the contestants get to run the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs. The winner gets a position on President Trump's cabinet.

You know at this rate that might not even be a bad idea compared to who he wants to run things.

"playing" dumb? unpossible

You and others must have also missed the part where he legally can't do that.

As the records of Congressional proceedings of 1789 show, the topic came up for intense discussion among legislators. It was Virginia’s John Page who made the point that although Washington “in his patriotic ardor, his love for his country” had said he was willing to forego payment, “the constitution requires that he shall receive a compensation, and it is our duty to provide it.” (That requirement is part of Article II of the U.S. Constitution). As Page pointed out, setting the precedent that it was patriotic to skip a step that was otherwise required by the Constitution would be a mistake: the rest of the men who made up the government needed to be able to accept their salaries without shame, and failing to provide for that payment might put politicians into debt to wealthy friends in order to avoid accepting the public funds that were rightfully theirs.

Since compensation is set by statute, Trump can't actually refuse to take it - just like George Washington, who reportedly tried to refuse a salary but got paid anyway, at $25,000 per year.

Trump is going to make more money in a few months of Secret Service rent at Trump Tower than his whole salary would be. Throw in all the other kleptocracy and it will be tens of millions a year gained, minimum. Fuck this salary talk, it means nothing.
