That is somehow magically supposed to tell me when and where he is going to attack?
I like these threads. You get the chance to discuss games that you didn't like much and that everyone else loved and find people sharing your opinion. If you try to voice your opinion in an official thread, everyone will gang up on you and brand you as hater. It's nice to know you are not alone that hated a game.
Some people here are taking this way too much seriously. It's not the end of the world that people hated something that a majority liked.
For real. I don't like seeing all the Bayonetta votes. Especially the ones that say the story was bad or the cutscenes were silly or whatever. I feel like that would be the same as me saying I don't like Braid because there's not a combo counter. But opinions are opinions and some people go into a game with a different mindset than others.
With that out of the way, I would like to cast a vote for Super Meat Boy. I got it as part of a Humble Indie Bundle and it was one of the main influences in me actually getting the bundle. I just...don't enjoy it. Maybe if I tried again with a controller instead of my keyboard I would feel differently. But this whole "play through this super hard mini-level and keep trying over and over until you get it" thing just doesn't click with me. I've heard the stories about the guys that made the game, and I have nothing but respect for their work ethic, and they obviously had a good idea because they found some success. It's just not for me.
EDIT:
Actually, in my game I didn't even see it. I was just set on fire and had no chance for escape. That said, it made me laugh out loud. The fact that anything can just jump out and end your life at any moment is part of what makes me enjoy the game. It's odd that similar frustrations keep me from enjoying SMB.
Where are all these Xenoblade haters coming from? They're really coming out of nowhere and never bothered to mention it in the official thread.

Congrats ! way to miss the point....
Is it really that big a deal if he roasts you?
The bonfire is ten seconds away.
Ass creed 1. Its terrible.
gladly i bought 2 on sale later on and the series was redeemed. 2 is a great game.
brotherhood is alright.
The first Assassin's Creed had incredible technology but was just a really just ridiculously dull, repetitive game with 5 or 6 awesome scripted assassinations. I don't think anybody would try to argue that.Ass creed 1. Its terrible.

There's plenty of games here that I dislike. If I couldn't care less about them, I'm not going to bother going into their OT threads and start posting about it.
Pretty much everything GAF has ever recommended on iOS. Thankfully I'm starting to understand what works best on that platform. Protip: it's not GTAIII.
Holy crap, people think that The Last Remnant is a good game? Was it the only JRPG those people have ever seen?
He's talking about Demon's, not Dark. But about Dark, the bonfire is only 10 seconds away AFTER you get past the bridge and drop the ladder. Otherwise it's a good walk.
That one felt much cheaper tbh.
I do get the point, but that's what this thread has devolved into.
It is a chance to vent about games that have pissed you off. It shouldn't be personal when someone hates something you like. I never understood why people get so bent out of shape when this happens. It isn't like you worked on the game (unless you did, then I totally get it This just seems to be some aspect of human nature though. People get their self worth wrapped up in their tastes somehow.

GAF recommends Ass Creed 1?
Some people in this thread can't deal with the fact that they are bad at the particular game they hate.
Probably my favorite JRPG when I think about it. It has gathered some "cult" appeal, especially after the much improved PC release.

"I didn't like this popular game because of reasons a, b, and c"
"WHAT?!?! You're an idiot. That game is the greatest game of this gen. You just suck at games."
Trials in the Sky. Winner worst recommendation and most boring game I've ever played.
In Dark the bridge is covered in oil and the dudes are arranged in a way that looks like a throwback to 1-1. The games teach you to be cautious and something is usually up if you come across an open moments (like Taurus moments earlier).
I always had the feeling of "I should have known" when I messed up; excluding Bed of Chaos which is genuinely unpredictable.
Shoot I got past it first time. *shrug*
I remember Demon's being worse though. Ended up just filling the jerk with arrows to keep him from hassling me.
(I'm also in the camp who didn't care much for Demon but enjoyed Dark)
I make it a point to avoid shitting up OTs, and take advantage of these sorts of threads when I feel like mentioning a hyped game didn't do it for me. I'd think that's the preferred etiquette.

yup. some people just don't understand that others have different opinions and will do their best to make sure that you know that THEIR opinion is somehow objectively correct.
But what if a, b, and c is "I sucked at this game", e.g. plenty of the posts about Demon's Souls or Dark Souls in this thread lol.

Dead Island. Damn you, GAF.
so what? if sucking at a game causes them to dislike it, that doesn't change the fact that it's their opinion.
People keeping their complaints to themselves when it comes to OT's isn't exactly a new thing. They're usually very unwelcoming of negative opinions. It's one of the reasons why I tend to avoid them these days. It's also one of the reasons why I think threads like these are necessary sometimes.
Both statements aren't mutually exclusive, just saying.Sonic Colors
GAF said: Best Sonic game since the Genesis days.
It's shit.
The hilarious elevator in Sen's Fortress is covered with blood so I stepped off when I noticed and saw it rise into spikes...things like that are well done. The mimic got me but I don't really remember if there's a cue for it.
You bought a visual novel and didn't expect to be thrown a lot of text?
I mean, I can understand not appreciating the medium, or what 999 was doing, but... you really should've known what you were getting into.
It is better for GAF over if people trash a game within its OT. People go into OTs to get a sense of a game, so it doesn't help to cut off half the conversation. However if you do that you should be able to hold your own in an argument, against even rabid fanboys.
When people say stuff like this, I want them to list every other game they've ever played so that I can point out their obvious hyperbole with smug satisfaction.

GTFO. You may not like Xenoblade, but saying its 'more linear than Pong' is fucking ridiculous. If all you play is Skyrim and Minecraft, then yes, it might seem a little linear by comparison, but by pretty much any other standard, its quite a big, wide-open game that you can play at your own pace and take breaks from the main story at most any time and have a ton of stuff to do still.Xenoblade
GAF Said:
One of the best RPGs I've ever played.
I know I'm going to love Xenoblade just by the first 15 minutes I got to play so far. Time to dig in some more.
Ahhhh this game is so good. MonolithSoft is still amazing.
I Said:
It's probably a more linear gaming experience than Pong. Awesome game if you like exploring empty walls.
And that was stupid.I bought it pretty much blind, based on all the excitement her.
