Dragon Quest 11 (JP) |OT| whynotboth.gif

I'm going to go ahead and put out there that you probably didn't or didn't try to do all the quests in 9 then...

I think I did all the ones up until the point where I dropped the game(right before the last boss)

If there's something crazy in post-game or the extra quests that were DLC I didn't see it

I'm getting far through the main game slowly, and getting further and further in Streetpass. Seems many people in Tokyo already have strong Yocchi, so it's getting easier to progress.

The last old game Quest I did (third one) was quite hard though. Did half a battle with my hero dead, and having to be very defensive and slow.

Less nostalgic for the later games.

For the record, you can cure that with Silvia's ツッコミ or protect from it with Senya's キラキラポーン

Thanks Aeana but it seems I have neither of those spells with Senya.

Here is an image showing my senya spells, who is level 26 btw
Nothing spoilery, just the party member names

I have マホトーン though which has a chance to work so it didn't work on the boss
as many times as i tried it.
Hell even my revival spells kept failing :p.

Ok found キラキラポーン in the skill and maybe ツッコミ is the hidden skill on the bottom right?Anyway, thanks guys, I will buy them whenever I get the points and put Senya back on the party because when Martina joined I removed her, so she started leveling up slower.

Is there anywhere good for grinding like the two dragon spot in Yuganoa?
There are multiple metal spots over the whole game, so it would help if you said where are you at right now (can be in a spoiler tag).

After killing the Demon Lord and getting the Delcada Shield and Greig becoming a party member I am trying to get to the next area. How do I do this? I keep roaming in circles.

I don't mean to sound mean, but you're pretty bad a tagging spoilers.

Like how is anybody supposed to know where you are, maybe you're ahead of me and you're spoiling something big in the game, which is exactly what you're doing and there's at least 3 people posting here behind you in the game!

How about this: I'm in the later half of the game, some hours in after a big story development, I'm currently stuck in the *insert spoiler*

Anyway, here's what you do.

After Greig becomes a party member, as in able to control you go to the snow area of the world, the Delcadar king tells you that.

If you're with Greig in your party but can't control him then you go to the Delcadar castle, there's a hidden cave around the waterfall

Any tips on making Camus extremely powerful in the post game? I've heard people mentioning it here, but aside from a bunch of damage numbers when using the bunshin dual attack (which is strong, but nowhere near some other characters), I just don't see it. I have strong equipment, so maybe I just didn't spec him correctly.

I just found somewhere,
just before getting into Ramuda.
Thanks.
In your case, I think the best spot is the
Eastern island on the outside sea. The one with slime-type monsters. Liquid metals appear together with King Slimes and give 10k exp per kill. Aeana said that regular metals appear with other monsters too, but I haven't seen those personally, since I was too focused on finding liquids. There are 2 king slimes walking around and they repop if run past the bridge and a bit further away. It's really quick.

You're not by any stretch. Telling the truth is not being mean. I got frustrated and confused because the translation of the Wiki looked a bit vague so I was reading that and looking at a video guide (but on PS4) and there was an obvious path that I was missing. I have since figured it out.

So I finally finished the game on the 3DS. Loved every minute of it, haven't played a game to completion like this for a long time. I think this is my favourite DQ game.

Regarding the post game,
it seems way more like it's not over than a post game! I can't imagine anyone getting to the end and going "yep, I'm done". The subtitle doesn't ever seem to come into play until this part too. It's cool though, seems way more involved. I'm wondering how long it's going to take.

Everyone waiting for this to come west is in for a treat

Just finished the (mid-2nd half)
second Grotta scenario
and that boss sequence was really satisfying, if not kind of rude.
It's the first time the game has had two bosses in a row with no warning or chance to heal up in between, and I wasn't prepared. I scraped by, though.
Stuff like this is why I'm glad I never overlevel in DQ games, though, because it was really fun.

This interesting, I just bought DQVIII on 3DS, this will be my first time playing a DQ game.

I want yo ask should play this on hard from get go? Or because its my first I should stick with normal.

Well then I guess i need to watch out not to get overlevel.

For me it was just a choice and not just so I could say, "Oh wow, that boss was easy. This game is a cinch."

I hate struggling with a boss. What one person calls fun, I call frustration. Getting by with the skin of your teeth to me is nerve racking. I can go play FPS games for that garbage.

I import DQ games because I like to roam and they generally give me the freedom to do that. I like to be a high enough level that I can collect all the treasure in a dungeon or on the field as soon as possible. It sounds as though I am taking this personally but I am not. I just feel a need to address it when it's brought up.

By people I guess you mean me, and I'm just not memorable.

This is my 3000 damage strategy with Camus, spoilers just in case anybody wants to discovery it by themselves.

Combine Camus' ぶんしん with Veronica or Silvia's バイキルト, preferably cast that one twice then use 心眼ー閃, pretty sure that's one of the last sword skills he gets, you might want to check the skill part closely.

Combine that with the hero's 全全霊斬い (not spelled like that but I can't spell it properly) and you can do some 4000 - 7000 damage per turn in the early 70s, if you can get a critical hit with Camus on that set up he alone can deal over 5000 of damage.

Best party that I used was Hero, Camus, Veronica and Silvia with the latter 2 just focused on putting buffs, as fights were so short I didn't cared about healing.

I knew you mentioned it, but I thought a few others did too. You're very memorable!

As for the spoiler part:
Yeah, I always use バイキルト, but I didn't realize that the always crit attack would work with ぶんしん! Great tip, thank you. Sadly, no 全身全霊斬り for me, because I use one hand swords on the hero.

Damn, everything in Grotta was amazing. The game is only getting better.
Finally got dual-wielding on Camus so I stuck another boomerang on him and I'm super excited to be able to use two of my favorite DQ weapon type at once!

This might actually be the cruelest thing a game has ever done to me.

Despite the setbacks, I made 2 million coins and bought what I needed. I still will have to get a jackpot once I get the quest later, though.

I love being under leveled in DQ it really makes you think of the strategy you use.

Is doing things in a slightly different order possible? I found myself at Craymoran (?) castle after being directed to a different spot on the map by the
mermaids
.

Im around level 25 and just finished the
mermaid
mini story... hoooooly crap that hit me way harder than i expected. My favorite mini story so far.... I actually don't know why it got me so good, its not complicated... just... yeah.. this plus the cutscenes before martina and lowe join your party really impressed me. Didn't expect DQ to have this many emotions because the only 2 DQ games i beat (8 and 9) did not leave me with this many feelings

Question for levelling in the post game, anyone have any good places to grind?

I'm currently at
the extra dungeon before the final final boss, I hit the previous heros friend and I have to kill him in 30 hits, only managed 37 so far so I'm thinking a bit of level raising is needed

Metals would be cool if any knows where they are at this stage of the game.

There are metal kings (green eye variant) in the final post-game dungeon (any floor). They are rare and often run, but worth 160K (320K with Roulette super) if you get lucky. I used them (and non-metal enemies) over 4-5 hours to go from 55 to 80.

I grinded metal hands in the volcano to get strong enough to topple the boss you are talking about. FYI, you can use Okami's Camus tip from a few posts earlier in this thread to power through the boss in question in far fewer turns. Good luck.

Thanks I've hit up the volcano for the time being. Before the post game metal hands popped up frequently not had much luck yet though going back

Yeah, I just got there too and I wasn't expecting that emotional gutpunch after fighting such a goofy looking monster. What happens if you
lie to Romia?

You won't be able to get the black pearl inside Kinai's house and won't be able to see the ending of their love

Please please please can somebody help me. I am playing the 3DS version of the game (3D mode) and am near the end so will put the question in a spoiler tag.

I've defeated the volcanic monster for the second time, got the key, have done the scene where my team use the hammer to mould the sword and I believe now I need to fly with Ketos (ケトス) to the castle in the sky. However I don't know where the f&%$ Keots is, how to summon him or what to do next. Any help whatsoever would be appreciated as I'm almost 60 hours in and want to beat the game before I travel on Thursday!

After pushing back some other games, and finding a PA coupon and it being in stock, I couldn't resist. Sigh.

Loving everything about it though!

Quick question. Are there hidden quests in this game? What I mean is quests other than those that show up on the map and purple icons above npc heads?

Use the heavenly flute to summon it.

Like that's it.

Might was well take it slow cause you won't beat it before your trip

OMG! I haven't even used that before but will try when my 3DS is charged up. Thank you SO much! I can finally get my life back to normal again soon!

Let's see if I can do this properly.

I am at
Bakumos
, but it hits hard so I need to know how to either increase the recovery rate or lessen the damage from his spells. Maybe I need to take an offensive strategy instead of my normal defensive strategy.

Hustle dance heals for the full amount even with the debuff, and so does HP rain I believe. Try using magic barrier to resist the spells, but I can't remember if it works on those. My general strategy was just to buff up the hero a lot and let him do most of my damage while the others supported in some way.

Thank you as always for your help. In the previous battles his he was hitting the party heavily and also putting my hero to sleep. Magic Barrier sadly does not work. Ah well.

ザメハ can wake sleeping members.

Thank you. I am now in the
Monster Casino
and I am annoyed that I keep getting put in love on the second battle. If I don't win this time around, it may be some more time for leveling. Very aggravating.

Edit: Got it. Not fun. Not fun at all.

That's the battle I mentioned earlier being really fun and I was glad I wasn't overleveled for. What level were you, out of curiosity?
