What the fuck? It's literally the day before Christmas too.
this wont take long.
If you aren't a time-traveler, you might want to look at a calendar. It's literally the day before Christmas too.
DSFix is just the best kept secret at Namco.
We are all aware that From has seen DSFix themselves, they literally implemented just about every single feature in the sequel. Even Square implemented GEDOSATO's fixes to FFXIII in their patch as well.
These companies are well aware of Durante's work. They just don't go out of their way to acknowledge or improve upon the work, despite raking in the sales and having access to the source code.
Yeah it is super shady of Namco to basically use Durantes work and then do this. Durante is probably solely responsible for increasing dark souls awareness on PC with his fixes. I hope media coverage starts shaming them.DSFix is just the best kept secret at Namco.

Somebody got drunk at the Bamco Christmas party and filed a dmca complaint for shits and giggles?
Love the new tag of Durante.

It's pretty likely since the FFXIII settings that were added were a duplicate of the ones GeDeSaTo manipulated and nothing else that was asked for.
I don't know supporting for arbitrary resolutions and 60 FPS is really "using DSFix," it's just meeting the expectations people normally have for a PC port. Likewise, FXAA and ambient occlusion aren't exactly surprising features to see added in an updated game engine, though I do remember Durante saying that their implementation of AO looked a lot like his.
Someone at a company hired by Bamco probably filed it at the behest of a web crawler that thought DSFix had something to do with the debug version.
was this confirmed...? Or just a sneaking suspicion that is probably on the money?
Im just trying to find any logic behind this move. This was the only thing that added up cause you have to be drunk to think this would not backfire.
My interpretation of events: Bamco are trying to clamp down on people spreading the debug version of Dark Souls, which accidentally got distributed with the GFWL patch and potentially allows people to cheat in MP. To this end, they hired a company who used a bot to search for Dark Souls stuff on filesharing sites, and then started sending off DMCA notices all willy nilly.
This is utter bullshit of course, especially since DSfix does not include any of their material.
I'm actually amazed that they would do this. I mean WTF.
When do these companies learn that once it is on the internet it cant be taken down.
Has to be a mistake or some bot or something. No way someone is this dumb.
I understand them wanting to stop cheating, but yeah it's probably more productive to put that effort into patching the game instead.
That was the general consensus about halfway through the thread. Probably a result of them trying to track down the debug exe that they let slip.
Thread's gone a bit crazy since then.
Yeah, I wish some of the "FUCK SCAMCO!" folks would take a few minutes to read the thread instead of assuming the absolute worst, but at the same time those angry messages might help get this noticed sooner.
Plus it would make for a great Neogaf Christmas story part 2.

Yeah, this has to be some sort of mix up. Namco Bandai can't possibly be that fucking stupid.
