Just bought tickets for the 70mm version Thursday night. And hot damn that EW review snippet got me hype. I'm a sucker for WWII anything.

The reviews and descriptions have me thinking of the host of a podcast I listen to (Battleship Pretension). He's not a big Nolan fan and has felt that Nolan isn't really aware of what he does well and what he does poorly.
This sounds like he's locked in, finally. Nolan won't be known for his incredibly rich characters or smart dialogue but holy fuck, can he pull off spectacle and awe. Can't wait to see this.

This train started with Get Out. This is turning into a pretty damn good year for movies.

You dont need gore and blood for tension and suspense. I think the difference is that most war movies revolve around combat, so the notion of a war film without the gore amd blood that tends to come with battlefields seems ridiculous.

Imax 70mm...it's pricey, but there's nothing like imax shot footage on an imax screen.

Editing is supposedly on point in this film. I don't like predicting shit before I see it, tho.
I'm talking about movies I watched consecutively; Get Out is phenomenal, but between that and Wonder Woman, I saw a couple of stinkers.
I'll hold off until I see it before I make those predictions.

It's probably a lock to get almost all of the tech noms. Especially cinematography, sound, and editing.
I didn't particularly like Interstellar but seeing it in IMAX was an incredible treat. I have no doubt that the same will be true for Dunkirk.

The fact that 70mm imax dunkirk is only available in a few dozen cities in the world you should watch it in that format.
The volume might be too intense since this theatres usually have topoftheline audio- I'm bringing ear plugs.
