Xu Zhu looks good... for once, not entirely like a toddler lol. He's actually one of my favorite stories in RTK and yet I've always hated his DW design.

Gan Ning cool as always... would be awesome if they let us sail a small boat or raft around rivers and go raid outposts or supply ships haha.

New information from a new interview with Suzuki at the Hong Kong event.

  • The biggest challenge with utilizing open world for this title was balancing realism with aesthetics. Recreating the features of China solely with real life references wouldn't have made for an artistically pleasing presentation, so they considered incorporating some maps from past DW games.
  • Only Liu Bei's appearance will change over time, other officers will more or less retain the same model throughout their stories. Liu Bei was a special case because players requested for him to have two models (with and without facial hair).
    {translator's note: We already know that changes like Xiahou Dun's eyepatch will still happen, though, and the helmet/no helmet + mask/no mask options for Xiahou Ba, Wen Yang and Sima Shi should also be available.}
  • Players would be able to encounter pandas, tigers and other wild animals in the forests, but not officers or mystics. However, officers of different factions will be hidden in the cities and the player will have opportunities to find or encounter them.
  • The traditional Chinese version of DW9 will include both Chinese and Japanese dub options, but the simplified Chinese one will only have Chinese dub.
  • Players can choose to ignore the "main missions" that will change the time era in favor of roaming China, training to level up and searching for hidden materials. These hidden materials can be used to craft items. Access to new areas of the world map depends on the player's level.
  • The historical time frame/collection of events that the player experiences will depend on the officer they choose to play as, as each officer has a fixed period of activity in the TK era.
  • Things in the environment aren't destructible unless indicated by the mission. However, the appearances of locations will change as the story progresses.
  • Players won't be able to operate the siege vehicles; they will have to escort them by foot.
  • There are still a few new characters not yet revealed.
  • There won't be a marriage or sibling oath function, but there will be special conversations between certain officers.
  • Travel is mainly achieved by foot or horse, but there will be certain portal points that allow for instant travel.
  • Enemy soldiers will not always remain in formation, once the player attacks them they'll all start to move independently of each other.
  • DW9 will include 4K 30fps and 1080p 60fps graphics options.

Last bullet has me excited.
