I feel really bad for the people who did not have a say in the reboot's design / themes / etc.
Beyond that though, I mean, come on? To me it looked like another instance of company deciding the core audience wasn't good enough and they preferred to appeal to others instead. Which rarely works, and can be catastrophic if the company does not have other profit drivers to carry it through mistakes. In this case it clearly was an exceptionally poor decision, both because of end-result and because they had plenty of notice to change course if they paid attention to business trends or even just the reaction to the first reveals.
