Famitsu 2009 top 1000

Just the top 10 Nintendo's Wii games sold 62% of all wii games in 2009. Weird.

edit: all nintendo wii games represent 70% of the entire wii maket in 2009 in japan.

5 of those top 10 were not released in 2009 either :p

Did I miss something or was Uncharted 2 the highest ranking American game at #120 and 97,865 sales? Not really surprising but still, that's kinda...wow.

Edit: Actually, Call of Duty MW2 at #77

I knew PS:p2 sold well below the first but not that low!

PS:p1 = 633,954 (+25,176 the Best) = 659,130
PS:p2 = 443,216

Maybe 215,000 people bought the PSN version... lol.

PSP2 was released at the end of the year

Last known number was 580,726 at the end of June.

:lol

On another note, it'll be interesting to see how each version and port of the SF/Tekken deal performs in Japan. That's what I want to see, come 2012/13. :lol

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
070 [WII] Tales of Graces (Bandai Namco) - 177.925 / 177.925

So this is bad? Like, stop putting it on the platform, don't localize it in America bad?

(Doesn't seem that bad to me, all things considered.)

3. Nintendo* 66
4. Capcom 51
5. Square Enix 47

Doesn't seem like Super Robot Wars is doing all that hot, at least on DS.

SRW K was over 200K but a good ways away from 300K

Z Special Disk while not as high would this be considered the best since it is nothing but an expansion that doesn't come with the main game and it still managed over 90K?

Super Robot Wars High and Neo got hammered bad. High I can kinda understand if what I read was right and it was just recycled content from K, W, J.

But Neo, they keep trying the 3d games but damn I wonder when they are just going to hang up their hats, probably didn't help it was on Wii though.

Bad for games in general? No. Worse than most other Tales in Japan? Yes. Tales localization decisions don't seem to have much to do with that anyway, though.

I got curious as to how often some things would show up.
13 games with "Soul" in the title
8 games with Legend/Legends/Legendary in the title
7 games with "Brain" in the title
6 English trainers
4 mahjong games
lol i'm waiting for some japanese company to read this and figure out they should name their next title 'brain soul teaches legendary english" c'mon d3!

ToV PS3 did 337k and it was just a port. Not even counting the PSP games that outsold it as well. Pretty bad all things considered.

The only reason the 360 platinum version is so high is because Beautiful Katamari is bundled with 360s and Famitsu adds those sales to software total.

It's like 5 in the morning here and I was very confused before I realized that this was apparently only sales in Japan. :lol That would explain why fewer than 4,000 Scribblenauts copies!

This really doesn't matter,
Sorry that, I don't remember how old sales age use to work. But why do we have sales numbers of games that only sold in the 10's of copies? Just how extensive did the old yearly lists use to be?

These PS1 sales outside top 500 were found from bttb. They are S-E budget titles.

It deserve at less 1M in Japan.... oh well this is good too.
I believe the only FF spinoffs to do that so far are both PS1 games released in the series's peak time in the year following FF VII: FF Tactics and the original Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon.

If I take the games one by one I will find many more. Budget releases look to cause the biggest trouble.

Quick question out of curiosity: Is there a single non-Nintendo game that ever sold more copies than DQIX?

Nope, only ones that really come close are DQVII(3.9Mil~) , DQIII(3.8~Mil) , FF7(including international 3.7Mil~) and all the re-releases of monster hunter2G (3.9mil~)
