What's an "otomail"? Kitten/cat or some pun thereon (the kitchen being staffed by Felynes)?

I hope they don't take this kind of stuff TOO far as an easy out from making more REAL content (i.e., wyverns). The farm and kitchen junk is plenty as it is.

It might well be Felynes in the translated version, whether there's an official one or just a standard unofficial one; I've never played Monster Hunter, and when confronted with a game-centric chunk of contextless syllables simply rendered it as close to something pronouncable in English as I could without losing sounds.

To be honest, I expected to be called out on "sharpness meter" or "mail(? was really vaguely phrased) for paint" first. :D

You're assuming that this will have a reasonable budget and that Capcom's arcade division qualifies as a big company. :lol
Both Koei (Strawberry Porno) and Enix (Lolita Syndrome) were involved in the adult games market in the early years, and more recently, adult PC games have crossed over into notably less adult multimedia events; look at most of Key's products, for example.
If this turns out to be actual Capcom development, it might be a first for development actually being farmed out to a respectable company, but it likely would say more about the current state of Capcom's arcade division than about Type-Moon's gradual climb of the stairs of respectability.

Not to mention, in the past year or so, both Fate/tiger coliseum (based off this very franchise; PSP, dev. Cavia, pub. Capcom) and Melty Blood Act Cadenza (based off their previous, selfpublished franchise; ARC/PS2, dev. Ecole, pub. Sega) have been released.

Melty Blood would not count as it would fall into the "doujin game picked up by a big publisher category". The fact that there has already been a Fate game with Capcom's name on it is interesting though.

The Act Cadenza revision dates from after Type-Moon's establishment as a mass market developer rather than a selfpublished group.

EDIT: putting it back up...taking a chance....

Odd scores for the PS3 version considering it's been pretty negative from just about everything I've read of that version. I'll be honest, I haven't read much but from what I've read...nowhere near quad-9s

um, there is no difference between 360 and PS3 and PS2 in online issues, all three have it. Otherwise, no other issues with PS3 version.

Old post I did:
All the new content in Frontier? They'll turn Ailu into some sort of weapon caddie who'll follow you around on the hunting grounds? Interconnect-ability between 2nd G and Frontier? Pure speculation.

concerning this press release:

Tsujimoto assured players that saved data from Monster Hunter Portable 2nd could be imported to Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, and it will be fully featured, unlike the transition from Monster Hunter Portable to Monster Hunter Portable 2nd. Last but not least, Tsujimoto commented that Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G will include a new system that's never been seen before in the series. Although he didn't elaborate, he hinted that the series' feline mascot, Ailu, might have something to do with it.

How can I get a subscription to Famitsu in America? Or at least have the option to buy very recent issues online?

Not to mention it was tweaked and modified from the original form by Ecole, and also the upcoming Melty Blood: Actress Again.

If you were wondering, here and here might work. It'd probably be easier to stop by a Japanese bookstore and get one, although you'll always be a few days to weeks behind, so don't expect on starting any news threads with your magazine. :D

I don't understand what's so funny about a legitimate question. I resent your condescending response.

Thanks for your response. I do not wish to create news threads, the people who already do them do a fantastic job as is. I merely am interested for selfish reasons, such as not wanting scans, etc.

Not sure what to think about MHP2ndG...Its targetted at the endgame userbase (me) but I really can't be arsed paying full price for a tiny expansion. That and I don't trust Xlink Kai on my computer again....I think I'll be passing on this.

Really hyped on WKS though. Every RPG needs modelled armour (maybe with the exception of a few), WKS is perfect for this. Can't fracking wait.

I'll reserve judgement on Fate/Unlimited. Huge fan of that universe and also of Melty Blood but this is Capcom, so hopefully it plays well.

why did the 360 and PS3 versions score higher? I thought the next gen versions had less content and were actually worst.

TY for the photos, Creamsugar!

So now you can get a Felyne Partner with you during single player quests. I guess someone wanted something more useful than the little piggy.

New dense forest looks fun. Going to be hard to spot things! Nalgakulga reminds me of Tigarex mixed in with a panther.

Bad Girl looks like a psycho in the screenshot. They just keep on teasing with the NMH screenshots. Kitty catching and graffiti cleaning jobs... Exciting!

DS is officially what PS2 was in the past for D3's Simple Series... i wonder if they will reach 100 titles as it happened on PS2 :lol

Any idea if Capcom is developing Fate internally, or are they just publishing?

Only publishing according to Canned Dogs,
The coming issue of Famitsu has revealed that Capcom will be releasing a arcade 3D Fate/Stay night game called Fate/Unlimited Codes in 2008. The game will be developed by 8ing, and cavia seems to be involved somehow.

And that site is usually accurate.

What a coincidence, the same thing about the game reviews we get excited about.

That Fire Emblem Gamespot thread is not talking about the high quality of the review.

I don't really care about reviews or what goes on in those threads. I'm talking about the news and lack of it coming from Japan. At least between EGM/GI we get an exclusive story each month. Or some good rumors to talk about. Last years Famitsu's were pretty good though.

The other "not-quite-confirmed" blurb that I've heard on SRK is that the game is going to be run on 246/256 generation hardware.

If that be the case...then PS2 port is probably confirmed (yet again)... :lol

Honestly, I'm certainly not complaining, but it's going to be interesting to see how many more fighting games are going to be showcased on "old-gen" hardware before they finally make the jump. I mean, as it stands right now the only "truly next-gen" fighters on the horizon are (conveniently) Tekken 6 and SC4. Maybe even Samurai Spirits SEN from SNK, but I doubt it; it looks just like a top-tier PS2 to me.

Any way, if that remains the case, then it probably will shape up to be that the majority of those fighting game devs left will probably be happy to stay with the old gen hardware, where the money is, and let Sega and Namco continue to duke it out for next-gen supremacy.

Yeah, it'll come out the same day that Rumble Fish 2 FINALLY comes to PS2, following Sega-Sammy getting down on their knees and asking for Dimps' favor again. :lol

Let me guess, Atlus will pick them (or the spinoff) and won't pick any PS2 ones, they will bomb, they won't bring PS2 then either, and finally ethelred will go rampage on me saying they won't bring any PS2 ones because no one bought the DS ones. Fucking creepy, I know.

At least you can stop bitching about them only bringing over the spin-offs instead of the main series.

summon night 1 & 2 coming to DS

That's pretty hot, I'm a bit of a fan of the Swordcraft Story spinoffs, never got to play the original series since of course they haven't come out in US yet. Hope the DS versions at least make it here. What makes the Summon Night series stand out from the usual SRPGs?

That's excellent news. Golden opportunity for a localization.

Huh?

I'd think you'd be happy if Atlus brought these over. They're not spinoffs, they're two of the games in actual numbered series. But yes, surprise, shock, if games in a series are to be localized, it's incumbent upon people to show support for the series when opportunities to show support are presented.

I would. I seriously hope they pick them, they do good and so, but its looking less likely they will pick up the PS2 ones (3, EX, 4 or the unannounced one) thus the gloom and doom.

Maybe its even worse and they pick up the DS spinoff (you know, the one pretty much no one cared about, even in Japan) and it is the new opportunity to get other entries, like 1 and 2. Which would be another bad opportunity choice from Atlus if you ask me :(
