That's a timezone problem, you can't really fix that.

You can mitigate the problem by not putting a lot of games on the main stage on Sundays, doing top 4's instead of top 8 for games that traditionally run long, don't allow 3/5 for tournaments for games that has long timers, etc.

That could help, sure. I'll admit that I'm inherently biased against catering to spectators though.

Sure, but it's also promoting a professionalism for the tournament and the games itself. Delays on Sundays just hurt everyone. There's no reason for a tournament to say, start 2 hours late starting out like NCR did this year.

The fact that he's willing to DQ anyone for the sake of punctuality helps a lot. If it becomes clear you are willing to DQ a top player during top 8 for the sake of the event running on time, everyone else falls into line fast.

it helps that they actually run pools and main games on friday from like 2pm instead of just side stuff unlike most other tournaments

Absolutely the case for the most part and I've long accepted that. It seems lately top 8s on Sunday are starting around 11pm PST. I don't recall that being the case before but maybe I'm just getting old/tired earlier.

Nothing new was shown in the video, we had a whole debacle over this on GAF when there was that Crowd Fund for the new Skullgirl character.

Also cost is variable on characters. I don't think it's going to take Capcom the same amount to port over Iron Man from Marvel 3 into Infinite though making brand new characters is a lot more expensive.
