Seriously people are talking about chasing rainbows and I cannot get a CoD. The game does not want me to have her.

Also do we know if Gumi is planning any Black Friday deals for us?

Hopefully we can pull a CoD before the banner ends. I'm also interested to know if there will be any Black Friday or Thanksgiving promos.

-- good news they're taking TMR injection seriously. don't say you weren't warned.

-- not sure what happened over the past day but i am just not going to stress out about missing DPS units on banners. i'll pull my dailies, i'll save lapis when i want, i'll do events as much as possible, i'll have fun being my small dolphinish self. think that's the long-term play here. it just doesn't make sense to stress out about keeping up with people spending a lot of cash on this thing.

This right here. The more I think about it the more I am sure I won't ever spend another dime on the game. It evolves and changes so fast that unless you are willing to spend a shit ton you will never keep up for the most part in that regard. So nah.

Will there ever be a reason to give a fuck about Bartz if you have Luneth, Elza, Lightning, Gilgamesh?

Against a boss that is weak against Wind?

But then again, I guess you could just equip wind elemental weapons to those units to achieve the same effect... so... /shrug?

I need Gilgamesh for his TM, nothing more. If I pull another Zidane I'll be happy as a pig in shit and that will suffice. I need another DW to give to my 3rd dps unit.

I'll tell you what happened, btw: Elza and Maxwell banner/events back to back, combined with a great arena and then a bad arena, combined with ever bigger/better pulls on the horizon, combined with an ever larger backlog of stuff I can't catch up on, blah blah blah .. it just kinda all adds up.

I'm having fun with the game! Why am I stressing about pulling rainbow units and missing out on DPS units? Well I'm not anymore, though I will still try to get them. All I'm saying is I'm just not going to stress about it.

It's a perfectly fine game to experience as a F2P-light Dolphin type. Decent story, and pulling units at the casino and scoring big will always be a great feeling. Lots to do. Not stressing.

Not stressing at all.

Nope. Not me.

Units will evolve, but Trust Mastery is the thing. I don't have any superior units (0 5*). But I do have a bunch of really nice TM's. Too bad I don't have that one crucial TM :(.

Looks like the crazy robot trial on JP has been figured out.

Good gravy, the sheer level of power creep needed to win this fight is outright scary.

-- Minimum half million damage **per round** required (preferably well over a million per round to avoid the fight taking several hours to complete).

-- AoE Re-Raise required and mass spammed because the party gets more or less annihilated every single turn.

Strategy is pretty much:

-- Hard focus on main body, with water element weapons/attack (Tidus ideal).
-- Cast Rikku's AoE Re-Raise LB every turn.
-- Entrust Rikku every turn to ensure she can cast her LB on the next to rebuff killed units (see Tidus). {hey, it's my Rydia strategy, lol!}
-- Rinse, lather, repeat for dozens of turns until the main body is finally ground down. Clear right arm, then left arm for the win.

That's pretty insane that there is a trial that is pretty much chain zombie raising units each turn to overcome ridiculous levels of damage.

Going to have to start pulling 5* base characters to keep up with the power creep. That doesn't exactly seem very fair, does it?

Only if all trials going forward are this difficult. Most gacha games will come out with a few absolutely ridiculous challenges for the high end whales, but the average difficulty will still be accessible to the casual spender.

Or you know... you don't need to do the brand new trial the day it comes out.

/shrug.

Just like every event, every new trial, etc. We have people screaming bloody murder because they couldn't clear it in an hour of release.

This is the tough part to keep in mind, and I think what Panther and I were talking about earlier.

It's REALLY easy to get caught up in the high spender mania with a game like this, and I think a combination of friend units and engaged boards like this or over at Reddit only make it worse. It's very, very hard not to compare and get jealous when you see the whales charging ahead into territory that is impossible to follow with mostly (or completely) F2P gaming.

But if you take a moment and step back, you can realize that the underlying game is still there, and there is a ton of fun in this game without getting into a unit frenzy or challenge frenzy. There will be trial and challenges you can't beat. That's okay. You don't have to beat them all. Move on, have some fun, and congratulate those that ARE able to beat them. Hopefully a few of them are on your friend list, which ipso facto means you win as well.

Plus, it really should be noted that there are quite a few members of this board that have absolutely monster teams that are F2P, or at the very least aren't "whales" by the usual definition. You never know when Lady Luck will roll your way, so just keep at it.

Of course, I say all of this today when I'm sitting pretty well with my team and no one has posted pics of their rainbow Gilgamesh pulls..... ;)

With tms you wont be in any clear disadvantage at all.

You can see the mvp of the Maxwell trial is a base 3star unit.

But, if you wanna pull and dont waste money, save for orlandu.

Orlandu is love, orlandu is life

Thats why this community is here. It doesnt help when people says "omg i did a daily summon and got 2 elzas!!!" When in reality they caught their elzas in the 40th summon. I dont know why people has to lie like this (im not talking about here. This community is awesome, but reddit is a toxic please full of pos like that) So its normal to get frustrated, but as long as ExviusGAF lives, we all as a group Will clear all the trials. You can beat your ass that Will Be true.

There might be hope for me on this upcoming trial after all. I just got both Plant Killer abilities (Ifrit 2* skill and Mystic Woods Exploration), so now all I need to do is spam Kolobos Marsh Exploration to get Vaan to 5* Lv. 80 for Full Break and I should be set. It should take me ~8 full bars of energy to max Vaan, but then I have to factor in another ~3 bars of running Chamber of Awakening for Sacred Crystals. I'll probably rank up somewhere in there, so that's either 10 lapis refills or just 10 bars of waiting. I'll probably refill up to 5 and then wait on the rest.

Gumi making an endgame trial super ridiculous that requires specific characters you have to spend money to get in order to complete? What a shocke- Oh wait like half the Brave Frontier trials are like this when they first come out.

Like others have said, give it some time, eventually you'll find either you end up with a reasonable comp or power creep jumps ahead enough that the trial becomes easy.

Can I get an amen all up in here?!

Just wanted to say you guys and this community are awesome!

Another daily another Bedile, wooooo!

Having Maxwell has helped this Karma grind to be better the past couple days (farmed cactuar most of the weekend). I still haven't completed the kill Maxwell with a LB and have no one die objectives, but not sure if I can/if its worth it. Probably could pull off the LB... but the no KO objective I'm not so sure on.

Playing a lot of gacha games I've come to appreciate the small things in life.

Can we get some love for Gumi refilling your energy BY your maximum when you do a lapis refresh, rather than TO your maximum? Fuck that annoyed me in other games.

I'll speak on this from the dolphin perspective. I came into this game knowing I wanted a few select units and that I'd go out of my way to get them. They were Lightning and Orlandu. I've got one and the other isn't released in global yet. I knew I was going to have to spend some cash to obtain. This isn't my first rodeo when it comes to gatcha games. Along the way there were a few select units that I wanted as well but did not obtain, Dracu Lasswell and Luneth. I did however get Elza who's IMO one of the best units right now and she's become a staple on my team for the foreseeable future. Chasing rainbows will cost you. It can cost you a little or it can cost you a lot. The choice of the two unfortunately isn't up to you, it's up to RNG. For the most part I've been very lucky when comparing cash spent vs. the units I've obtained. For me the pot has run out. I purchased my home so the excess cash I had is now gone. I'll do a few 11 pulls for Orlandu and possibly 1-2 for Gilgamash as I need the TM or hopefully get a Zidane out of the pot.

When it comes to power creep we all know that's just the nature of these games. I chased Chizuru HARD, never got one until like 2 weeks ago where I pulled 3 lol. Now, Chiz ain't shit and that's only because she doesn't have her 6 star yet. The game is at a point now where 3* are getting 6* form and are closing the gap between whale and F2P. Will it fully close it? Hell no, Gumi needs to make that cash. Coming from Puzzles and Dragons I'm fully aware of what's in store for Trials and such, personally I find this game to be much more forgiving as we've found strats and ways to deal with such things like Maxwell, Golbez, etc. for the F2P crowd.

I think one of the most important things to realize is that this community will always be here to help each other. I'm constantly spending lapis to open up slots for more of the newer people joining us. All we ask is that you keep Gaf in your friend message so we don't delete you. We'll always find a way to get through what ever Gumi decides to throw at us!

Personally, I have a real disdain for whining without reason, but I know that is heavily me due to my previous experience. My last MMO I played was EvE Online, where this is child's play compared to it. In the sense that you had to play out your character's direction months, if not years in advance.

So the notion of me not being able to clear content isn't just a given, it's to be a expected. Same with Arena. Same with a lot of the challenges.

Basically every game is the exact same concept. It's either time or money. A game like DOTA2 doesn't reward spending more money, but rewards spending more time. FFBE is largely the opposite, where the more you spend, the more you'll get ahead. But it also comes down largely to your own expectations, planning, and strategies in place.

I want to also say Reddit's poison because they basically suck on the tit of a few members, use it as fact without individual thought, and their knowledge pool is based on what is current in Japan, with no input in between the current date in GBL to JPN.

As someone who has used your units on MANY occasions, I extend many thanks your way.

And to the board in general, for that matter. I think we all do a great job here in sharing, whether it be one of my meager units or the monsters like yours or Valentus'. I've been in plenty of situations where my friend units are the reason I pulled through.

I love how Maxwell seemed impossible on day one, but by day two or three, a good chunk of us have been able to beat it through strategy and trial and error. It feels like cheating the system, and that's just plain fun. The hard part is having the patience to get there.

Wow, how on EARTH do you clear Leviathan with a LB, and no magic? He hits for a TON of damage. I can kill it, but not with a LB. I have to kill it way too fast for that.

Any tips?

What are the rewards?

There is a crazy 145 ATK knuckle and a Knuckle Mastery for one of the missions iirc.

Also, an AoE Full Break materia.(200% + 50% DEF ignore AoE attack as well + the Full Break)

Welcome to hi-end gacha trials

Yup.

QFT.

This trial is clearly for the 7* units, no point is wasting time now.

This as well. This trial was clearly designed for units not available yet. The fact that it can be cheezed through semi-exploiting the system is novel in its own right, but I agree that the trial is likely balanced around 7* units.

Did this one last night. Bring an OP melee friend unit (Lightning, Luneth, Elza). Stack HP on units before entering; Tsunami **hurts**.

Single target and kill the trash floor mobs individually each turn to buy time for LBs before Leviathan. When I ran it, I had three trash mobs spawn, which was plenty of time when everyone spam overkills each mob each turn.

On Leviathan, spend turn 1 autoattacking to finish any LBs not yet full.

Eat Tsunami.

Unload LBs on turn 2 for the win.

I was hoping 7* wouldnt become a thing but

yeah...

Probably just in time for FF7 cuz lololololol

I expect news about the first 7* units next month to be honest (for the Japanese version)
And FF 9 will be the first to get 7* upgrade since they completely got ignored for the 6* one.
Well, it's nice to dream >.<

Is there an easy way that I'm missing to see what lapis missions you haven't completed yet without having to go into each individual area? So, for example, when I pull up the Grandshelt map, is there a way to see if there are incomplete dungeon lapis missions without having to pull up each individual dungeon area?
