Remember the good old days when all Nomura was made fun of for were belts and zippers?
XVI will almost certainly be handled by a completely different team
S-E doesn't have unlimited resources, even if they have multiple teams. Even if XVI wasn't a problem when VII Remake was greenlighted and started production,I'm sure S-E had to re-evalute their schedule and management when the project had to switch from CC2 to internal development.

Still bringing up Kingdom Hearts as a reason to "trust" Nomura is really ridiculous indeed. The man hasn't done shit in a long fucking time.
On a personal level, if it's a long wait or an FFXIII/FFXV, I'll take the long wait. It might be that Nomura can't make good games in HD either, but I'd like to see proof of that before I write him off.
He released the Kingdom Hearts games. In. HD. As a remaster. He hasn't released a single HD game. Ever.
Is that not proof enough?

He wasn't written off FFXV and had the work done under his management scrapped for no reason.
I find it insanely interesting how quiet and closed doors everything was on FFXV was under Nomura.....Tabata comes in, opens the flood gates and we had literally new information at every turn and I loved it....got to see Dev progress and what they were working on. It was a refreshing experience to see the engine come together.
So what makes SE management not want Nomura releasing information without their permission.....hm? Maybe because hes untrustworthy and can't get shit done?
I mean Nomura is struggling to release....a fucking remake here.....a game with nearly a complete story and already told tale......it shouldn't be this insane to get information.

@RedMakuzawa
Nomura says he can't release new info on FFVII Remake due to strict rules. He'd get scolded. http://blog.esuteru.com/archives/20019732.html

It could be that's just how HE is. Or maybe like you said. SE didn't want him showing anything because nothing was getting done.
Say what you want about FFXV, but Tabata came in. Got shit done and put out a game that's still getting support. And the game is doing very well for itself.
And then was placed to lead a full HD remake from the ground up of SE's most prestigious game? That doesn't really seem to support the incompetence explanation.
A fantasy based on updatesWell, it's not technically done yet...

Tabata Final Fantasy XV's communication was very open in its late development, and so was Yoshida in FFXIV A Realm Reborn. Why is the rules so different with Nomura's team? I thought those two are SE's approach to their flagship games forward?
I Hope kitase is also co-director now
That's exactly the question.
The likely scenario is that he hasn't got shit done yet and SE wants to hide that embarassing fact with a gag order.
:Sure a while ago.
How involved is he in KH3. I mean that game is still taking a shit ton of time. We have a 2018 release date, but we don't know when. If he's unsure if he's able to meet deadlines he really should be more vocal about not taking on so many projects.
I do think he would benefit from moving to 1-2 small projects at a time where finishing them is much easier and he can do what he wants to do in terms of promoting the titles.
Im sure there are several people who would be willing to take over FF7R and Yasue already handles everything on Kingdom Hearts except for Nomuras weekly check ins.
I know I sound like a broken record, but BD5 can definitely handle FFXVI for the next 3-4 years. SE needs another mainline FF besides FFVIIR announced for the series' near future right now.It doesn't matter, as there's definitely going to be some financial and development strain because of FF VII. I hope I'm wrong, and that SE has some team secretly working on it that we don't really know about.
EDIT: This is what I meant:
Even though SE has multiple teams, they still have a limited number of resources to make games within those teams. We know Tabby's team is focusing on a new IP, and other teams are working on KH3 and FF VII R simultaneously. This seems like a lot of work at once, and we know their employee size is smaller compared to big western developers. My guess is a skeleton crew for FF XVI for many years to come, unless one of these games comes out soon.

For comparison's sake:
FFXV was announced in 2013. We got our first Active Time Report in 2014. We got 30 minutes worth of information, including real-ass gameplay.
FF7R was announced in 2015. We can't even get a new trailer in 2017.
Nomura is simply fucking up again.

This "game" was announced so early, together with mock up footage, simply to sell and hype up the PS4.

They'll have a separate trailer for that.AKA: "We haven't actually started development yet."
You'd think they could at least release some concept art of Tifa or Aeris. That's like an hour into the game.

Nomura simply needs a good manager that keeps him on tracks.
Honestly, Tabata as Producer for a Nomura game would probably be the best combo.
Getting extreme Versus XIII vibes from this "i can't talk about it at the moment, but we know when we will" quotes.
I will never stop believing.
This is the game that I have been waiting for since Wada-san showed up on E3 and showed us the stupid tech demo for PS3. The reveal video of this remake is the one video that I always return to and analyse the shit out of each and every week.
This is the game. When this game is released, I'm done. I have no more expectations out of life.
This is the game.
Take your time, Nomura-san.

You asked for facts that would lead you to think that he can't direct good HD games, not for proof that he is not a good director. The fact that the Versus project was hypothetically flawed and S-E wasn't happy with it doesn't mean that Nomura is a bad director.
What is Nomura good for, exactly? What would he bring to the table here?
How does Square still have money? Eidos must be carrying the company by now.
