Below is the first screenshot of the next Alan Wake title, a downloadable adventure available through Xbox Live Arcade.

Developer Remedy is promising a fully standalone experience for Microsoft's digital platform. Do you like the flannel look? You can expect more details to be revealed about the new Alan Wake on December 10 at the Video Game Awards show on Spike TV, MTV2 and Spike.com at 8:00 p.m. EST.

Quick clarification re: Alan Wake VGA announcement: It's a standalone download game through Xbox Live, not Alan Wake 2.

We can confirm that this new “Alan Wake” game will be a fully standalone experience and released on Xbox LIVE.

**UPDATE ENDS**

The annual Video Game Awards show is just around the corner and teases for this year's big announcements have begun.

Three promised reveals include a look at a brand new franchise from BioWare, the developer behind Mass Effect and Dragon Age. We'll also get a look at the next Alan Wake title and a full reveal of Metal Gear Solid: Rising. We'll have the first teaser images of these titles this Monday at Gameinformer.com (also featured in the December issue), so check back then.

There's some confusion, it might be AW2 as mentioned above or Alan Wake: Night Springs which was coming to XBLA but has since fallen off the radar.

Who cares what is it - new Alan Wake -

What an obscure game? Does it even deserve a thread? I'll be in the Bioware new franchise thread! Good luck with this all.

Hehheheheh... can't wait!

...but its a Kinect game.

And it wasnt the faces that bugged me really, it was the fact that Wake would run out of breath faster than a fat 8th grader.

It wasn't a lake...it was an ocean

Better fucking tell me where that shit leads Remedy. Such a blue balls ending. /Haven't started The Signal or The Writer yet.

Really hoping for Alan Wake 2, possibly my favorite game of last year.

Reminds me that I still need to play the first one. Hate to be a party pooper, but they're probably talking about the XBLA game. But as you say, if you're a fan, still good news.

So far this is my favorite pre-announcement announced preview trailer. I picked up a cheap GoD copy and really enjoyed the game.

HELL YEAH, sequel to the best game of 2010!

Hopefully it will not be some crappy kinect minigame collection. :)

Alan Wake F-Yeah!!!! Loved the environment and scenery.

Hopefully this new game gives answers to questions about answers of questions of answers for questions about the story line.

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
It'd be nice if the game in question were Alan Wake 2, but I'm expecting it to be the XBLA title.

I couldve sworn I read in an article some time ago that the game would possibly be played from Alice's perspective...

Alice Wake...?

hopefully this time the game is closer to the PC reveal than the console reveal. It was a good game but could have been a great one

Hope it's not as repetitive as the first one.

Yeah that was big negative for AW. Hopefully true sequel has big jump in quality like AC to AC2.

Was the first one good? Was interested in playing but never got around to it.

It is really a hit or miss like any cult movies. Good thing is you can find it much cheaper now so you won't feel bad about spending money if you hate it.

That's very cool, I just was handed an xbox so Alan Wake is on my list of games to pick up after the wallet-sucking holiday season is over.

I would rather they try a new IP with the same engine. I liked Alan Wake overall but there was so many bad things in it too, like the cheesy monsters, incredible dumb story, very repetive gameplay (more exploring instead please) and some a bit annoying characters. The forest and just generally twin peakish setting was amazing though.

Nice. Loved Alan Wake.

Here's hoping to a full fledged sequel rather than an XBLA game (which I would still play anyway...).

Again, XBLA title being shown at VGA's seems pointless. Doubt it.

How is that pointless? It's massive advertising, if it really is a kinect game it is its only hope to be slightly less dead on arrival.
