maybe pcars will make turn 10 finally step up their game, forza 5 was lazy as hell but with no other xbone sims they can get away with it

I don't know too much about the game or the developer, but I would imagine they had an extremely short development time to meet the XBO launch.

Especially when you consider they had to adapt the engine for the new console as well. If Forza 5 had launched on 360 in that state, it would have been much worse.

Looks really good actually, but I only got budget for one racing game this year. And this pales compared to DriveClub imo.

Will wait for PS4 gameplay videos.

I dunno I don't think Driveclub looks better than pCARS. But then again I'm basing this off of pCARS running on my PC at 4K.

I wonder how it will look at the end of the day?

Driveclub is not even in the same league as project cars.

in what way? I think DriveClub looks better (much better), has a better aesthetic. And I prefer the sim/arcade hybrid its going for rather than full sim.

unless you meant DriveClub is in a higher league?

Lol at the dumbass comparisons to DC. One thing is for sure, the future is looking damn good for PS4 owning racing fans.

One thing is for certain, Driveclub brings out the absolute worst in some GAFfers.

Both games look incredibly ambitious.

Turn 10 was in no way lazy. They managed to get out a fully rebuilt engine and game in a very short amount of time...for launch. They re-built entire tracks from the ground up (no copy-paste), redid the audio, redid the physics, re-built a ton of cars, re-did all the materials at insane detail, textured the tracks with massive detailed textures. Take similar "screenshots" in Forza 5 and they also look much better than anything in the OP. The cars in the OP don't look nearly as nice, especially the paint/textures, as Forza 5's or Driveclub's. Multiple racing developers have talked about how much work and time it takes to build tracks from massively detailed laser scans. It takes quite a while, there's a reason PCars is still in development.

Content wise PCars should deliver a pretty good experience with the time they're putting into it. Based on the images in the OP though, it's not on level with Forza 5's car porn on the more powerful PS4..so most certainly won't be on the X1. (unless the final build is much better looking)

People that compare Driveclub to both of the above games are just silly...different type of game folks.

As far as Turn 10's next game, Forza 6, I would hope they do deliver weather at-last, but I don't expect that game until at least late 2015 or 2016. Unless they really do plan to only do weather in something like Horizon 2.

Opinion == fact

Edit: what league? What metrics are we basing this on?

One is a hard sim title and the other clearly has arcade elements.

It's like comparing Unreal 2004 and Call of Duty, The person who I quoted said pCars pales in comparison. He is comparing titles leagues apart.

60fps? I'm in. IQ will obviously be lower in some aspects compared to some games, but lower input lag and better responsiveness suits me better.

It seems really strange to me that they would be targeting 30 FPS for Driveclub. Seems to me that they should be dropping the resolution and effects to increase the smoothness during gameplay.

Honestly, I really wouldn't want to play any game below 60 FPS, but for an arcade/sim racer, that seems incredibly important.

Launch window is ALL about showing off what new tech / what the new expensive console can do.

I have NO doubt Evo will sell many more copies of a graphically more interesting 30FPS racer than a less so 60FPS racer. People are hungry for that new gen sheen (see TR:DE, ISS, MGS:Demo)

From a sales perspective at this time, 30FPS with volumetric effect, global illumination, and long draw distances was the way to go.

DC alpha shot
It has clearly come along massively since then. That looks awful. Even the last round of short gameplay clips from months ago looked miles better than that. The latest trailer shows it has moved on even further. It looks comfortably better than PCARS now.

I love racing games and NFS Rivals just did not scratch that itch for me.

I'm getting both DRIVECLUB and Project CARS. I'll scratch all of my itches with them. Can t fucking wait for either game.

Ick. Youtube screen caps, just say no...

So after looking at the full res screens...yeah, there is no comparison b/w this and DC. DC is way better looking. Of course DC does it at 30fps to cram in all the eye candy compared to 60fps. Not saying this looks ugly but the IQ is nowhere close to DC.

Anyway, this is for those who wanted 60fps racer and were constantly bitching about it in DC threads. Now everyone can be happy...hopefully.

Lot of bokeh blur here too, which always makes me suspect. It has it's place, but it also is used liberally in bullshots to hide IQ at a distance and bring focus to the foreground (usually highest resolution assets)

Also looks like they've yet to find a good AA implementation here. That should come with time though.

I don't know why everyone is so stoked for this game. Slightly mad studios do not have a great record in my opinion. The GT games were lifeless and dull and the NFS shift games were a buggy awful mess with bad handling.

G27 support is on a game by game basis and requires Logitech to work with the developers. Hopefully they can be talked into releasing another wheel down the track, which might lead to them putting in the effort to get the old wheels compatible. Damn licencing issues!

All the last generation racers by Evolution and Bizarre were 30fps arcade racers. Motorstorm 1, 2 & 3 and PGR 3, 4 & Blur.

Makes sense they target 30fps since that's what they always do.

What is it about racing games that brings out the worst in trolling around here?

Some of you need to spend less energy worrying about the fucking pixels, and put that effort into becoming better at driving. Then join us on GT/Forza/WhateverRacingGame-GAF.

I'm a rubbish driver, mind you.

I would trade 60 FPS for static shot quality any day. Especially in a racing game.
I don't disagree, but I was just pointing out why the comment I posted was silly. Also I've enjoyed a handful of arcade racers at 30 so it's not a deal breaker to me. I get that sims are different and require more precision but they're all about as exciting as watching paint dry.

Looks good, can't wait for it to come out.

(nitpicking here... but that carbon fibre looks awful, very low-res and that's not how carbon fibre looks like...)

Driveclub really screwed itself with that delay. I'm sure the UI is going to look fantastic in the game and will be something that other games borrow from moving forward, but when you look at something like this... I don't know. Driveclub it going to have a very hard time not being forgotten.

Nah, they probably just havent finished the texture work for it yet. I can confirm it's similarly low res in the latest PC build as well. Maybe there's an actual livery like that?

For comparison here's the Pagani Huayra:

To QUOTE=TheAdmiester;110224279]As I look at it more I have to agree. The banding on the tires is awful, and the body texture, which is supposed to be carbon fiber, looks hideous here:

Looks like it's not really cut out for consoles, because I've used that car a few times in the PC version, and even on medium settings it's way more detailed than that.[/QUOTE]
I have to lol at this post. Let me guess, PS4 would melt.

Yeah that's what I figured. I mean there's a screenshot from the PS4 build in cockpit view where the carbon fibre is a lot higher res and better looking. Maybe it is a livery because they wouldn't have released 2 screenshots if it wasn't done.

(besides that's not how texturing works... they already have a CF shader in the game that they both should share which makes it even stranger... hmmm)
