Innovative, 4 player creative superfun with tons of charm. I'll be playing this game for ages.
02 Valkyria Chronicles
Innovation in a srpg, very satisfying battles, engaging story, excellent visuals & a great leveling up / upgrade system is among what makes this game excellent.
03 Yakuza 2
Sega finally released this game in the west. Keeping japanese voices was brilliant. The story is very engaging, the gameplay has a few glimses of shenmue-ness & the overall feel of the game is awesome.
04 Lost Odyssey
Epic story with oldchool jrpg gameplay.
05 Patapon
Awesome style, catchy music, original gameplay & undeniable awesome patapon creatures makes this gem the highlight of portable games in 2008.
06 Metal gear Solid 4
A new genre for me, with a deep story that I only played the last part of. This game surprised me in many ways, and I ended up liking it a lot more than I had imagined. Worth several playthroughs.
07 PixelJunk Monsters
The best 2 player co op game I have. Very addictive co operation, simple gameplay and a lot of hard levels that got even harder with the expansion pack.
08 Disgaea 3
Funny story, addictive gameplay and a ton of content makes this a must have for srpg fans.
09 PixelJunk Eden
Trippy visuals, addictive rope-swinging gameplay and a frentic 3 player mode makes me play this game over & over again.
10 God of War CoO
Kratos ' handheld adventure was just as fun as the ps2 ones, albeit a bit shorter. The control scheme was actually even better than before, and the level design was excellent.

Oy, too early for GOTY. Top games are easy but the lower half is difficult. Games I also really dug: Viva Pinata: TiP, Omega Five, Dragon Quest IV, the World Ends With You, Mirror's Edge, GeoWars 2.
I still dislike the new art in SF2HD, and I held off on buying it because of that, but holy shit is it a good game. I've only had it a few days so maybe it's a bit too early to put it on there but it's a 15 year old game, and the online's been pretty stable for however many weeks it's been out, so I doubt my opinion of it is likely to sour.
Burnout Paradise ended up being really fun but I hit the final events and the lack of restart hurt REALLY badly. So it's not on the list!
As I was playing Dead Space I thought it was a shoe-in for my top 10 but for whatever reason the fondness wore off once I stopped playing it. It's quite good but I don't get all "aw, remember the good times?" when I think of it.
The Club was good but belongs more on a list of underrated titles. I loved the Nero bits of DMC4 and wasn't too big on Dante. Had it been all Nero it so woulda been in my top 10.
Games I haven't put enough time into/really gotten around to yet: Persona 4, Galaga Legions, Left 4 Dead, Etrian Odyssey 2. EO1 was my GOTY last year and 2 is on par with it but I put it on the shelf and I'm saving it for a rainy day.

Would really like to switch Fallout 3 and Gears 2, but can't because of polish.....online problems aside (Problems that I personally didn't really encounter), Gears just feels like every inch of it had been cross checked...Fallout 3 does not, and while I understand that Bethesda will never be able to have that sort of polish due to the games they make, when it's this close, you've gotta base your decision off of something.
I've yet to really play Mirrors Edge, Banjo, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, or Prince of Persia......damn shame that most of these games, in either list, were not released over the summer....
