All of these Druaga games are complete shit. Looking at the credits it seems a lot of awesome material was left in the cutting room floor. They should've just excised the challenge portion of this episode. :p

Yeah, I want a Vietnam 2 episode! Everything but that damn game was great.

Too bad they weren't allowed to film in the casino.

When he played finger drums on that kid's head, and he said "I'll kill you", hahaha. There's a lot of footage of him being a dick to kids. Edit it all together with the right music, and that would be pretty amazing.

Let's have another subbed episode. Heading back to Season 16, we find Arino challenging an arcade-to-Famicom puzzle game port with a ridiculous name for its English release, Kickle Cubicle. It's often been said that puzzle games are his greatest strength; can he hold true to that claim for this game?
And since it's from the 16th season, there's a Barcode Gambler segment to enjoy as well, along with
the debut of AD Matsui.

Really enjoyed Kickle Cubicle as a kid, so can't wait to watch that episode.
Easy game though, so doubt Arino will struggle.

oh man. i love his interaction with kids.this sounds awesome.

there is an episode im trying to find where Arino visits a more modern convenience store and delivers on of the snarkiest most cynical lines directed at some poor kid. i laughed so fucking hard, and cant for the life of me remember what episode it was... hope to find it again one day.

This has been bugging me for a while -- one of the first GCCX episodes I ever watched featured a TamaGe at some sort of ryokan or spa where the restaurant specialized in a miso potato dish that both looked and sounded really good, and I've been looking for leads on what and where it was because I'd like to try my hand at recreating it. Any leads, or anyone recall the episode?

I have that English GCX guidebook on kindle, when I get a chance I'll check what episodes feature visits that fit that criteria. That is if it's one of the episodes the book covers.
Edit: can't find shit actually. Maybe the Pokemon Special or Northern Most Travelogue? I wish I still had all the old episodes readily available. Super interested now.

Has Arino ever played the first Fire Emblem game (as in the the Famicom one)?

I seem to recall him going back and playing some of it after playing Mystery of the Emblem or something but I can't seem to find anything.

I might be getting confused with him playing the DS remake or something.

Oh right, he only played the super famicom version twice.

I would have loved it if he played the famicom version on the show. The tunes have a nice ring to them.

I've had the GCCX Arino + staff blog in my Feedly for a while now, and I've never seen them make a post like this before. They just made a post titled, simply, "Message," which is unusual, and the post is hand-written and scanned instead of typed, which is also unusual. Seems potentially momentous, and my year of college Japanese isn't realistically going to get me very far in translating it. Anything exciting in here?

I couldn't make much of the first half, but they mention Kyushu so I assume it's a message of support from Arino & the staff. They've done it after the earthquakes in 2011 too.

edit: FYI, Hamaguchi is Masaru Hamaguchi, Arino's partner from their comedy duo Yoiko. Game Center DX is one of the official Nintendo-sponsored GCCX specials they do every now and then, to promote new non-retro-style games, hence why Hamaguchi plays instead of Arino. So far they did the Yoshi one, and also for Triforce Heroes, Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, and Star Fox Zero,

The "hype" is down, isnt it?

I mean when TN started subbing the show, no one really cared. Then around 2011/2012 or so we got an episode almost all week. The hype was there, "everyone" watched it. Seems now we get an episode every 2 months or so.
Kinda sad :(

Yeah, subs have slowed way down unfortunately. I've watched some of them untranslated but I can't really read kanji very well so it sucks trying to read some of the subtitles that aren't voiced.

Okay, so, this is a personal and somewhat complex web of nonsense involving a highly unstable individual I was friends and briefly FWBs with, but I can only assume there will be a never-ending clusterfuck on gaf now until the end of time, which inevitably involves you guys and gals on the mod team in some way, so I'm an open book here. The woman in question ended up being completely psychotic and held a grudge against me after a bizarre love triangle situation developed a few years ago between me, her, and another girl (the other girl I ended up in a long-term relationship with shortly thereafter). This NOLA story she apparently just put up on social media is a delusion of a deeply disturbed person who had a total psychological breakdown as a result of me and the other girl getting together, because she (phew, yeah...) became obsessively infatuated with the other girl (she's bi) on sight when the three of us met up. I wanted to just stay friends with the girl making the accusation and made it super super clear ahead of time that me and the other girl were interested in each other romantically and that could play out as such when we met up. Supposedly this was not a problem for her from accusation, but in reality she uhhh wanted me to die painfully after seeing me and the other girl interact. Plus she became infatuated with the other girl simultaneously to this (she's bi), which created the aforementioned bizarre love triangle that ended up causing her to implode and have an apparently very intense and long-lasting grudge. The whole story about how that love triangle thing played out is, frankly, nuts and scary, and involves this girl bringing us to a compound of dangerous scientology spinoff cultists on that same trip, who roofied us, attempted to recruit/scam me and attempted to abduct/rape the girl I ended up dating, in what was a fucking scary situation that resulted in me and the other girl and the rest of my friend circle never speaking to this girl from the accusation again.

Dang, today's episode of CX is Altered Beast! Sick. They're releasing a DVD that's their Mega Drive special. I really hope we get more Genesis games on the show.

Oh wow. Altered Beast only takes like 15 minutes to beat. I wonder how they will stretch that out over a whole episode. Kacho should be able to beat that with no help.

Well, Arino isn't the best so it'll still take a bit for him to beat plus there are the other segments in the show, lol.

Every time this thread is bumped with no new subtitled episode, a piece of me dies. :(

I'd gladly pay a monthly subscription fee to have the newest episodes translated. I miss this show.
