There's no real problem with him doing adverts for Mountain Dew and Doritos alone, but if they are doing adverts for Halo 4 as well, then it doesn't take a genius to draw some lines.
RPS has their piece up.

Wow, I've never read the Flare Path column and just from this sentence I already want to bury a screwdriver in this guy's neckI imagine that he's an English version of a cross between the comic book store guy, a pretentious rivet-counter from the comp.sys.pc.flight-sim Usenet group, and the most annoying guy at the Ren Faire.

Or, if you ARE ashamed, maybe just don’t fucking do it anymore. Either accept what you are, or become what you want to be. You can’t be one and simultaneously act offended when accused of not being the other. I have plenty of respect for both the enthusiastic blogger and the serious, super-ethical journalist. I’ve got no time for Quislings.

No, that's just overgeneralization. By your logic, it is impossible to write a negative review/article if the PR gifts/food/whatever was excellent? Because, we've had plenty negatieve reviews about bad games, even if the PR was good. I remember getting a very cool Brink PR package, but that game was awful. Thus it received an awful review. PR gift was cool, but that's it.
Not bad. Doesn't address the press/PR relationship (beyond a safe "barely any corruption going on"). But the take on owning up to what you did, who you are, etc, is respectable. Kind of a long piece to say so little but whatever. Good read.Jim Sterling weighs in: http://www.gamefront.com/critics-in-the-headlights/
Cool, finally.
No they aren't. They aren't as one-sided as you seem to think. No one forced Eurogamer to cave so easily. That's on them.
edit: jesus
The last tweet exemplifies exactly what Rab was talking about. What a goddamn pussy.
you're wrong, Rab Florence's piece was very harmful to eurogamer, you DO NOT NAMES NAMES on assumptions, the dude telling folks to move on is 100% correct, all Florence did was cause a lot of internet drama with very poor proof. and an ending that killed the whole point of the article..Why are we studying Geoff Keighly's image?
i'm ALL for exposing gaming journalism when its at its worse (most of time it seems) but this was not the piece to do that, good for gaf, but bad for the site, blows myy mind people are seeing this as Eurogamer "caving" they have a duty to print the TRUTH, they're not a smear rag.
Publically accessible twitter profiles and feeds aren't assumptions.

and what is this proof that was uncovered from all of that?
and what is this proof that was uncovered from all of that? this airtight condemnation that warrants a person being named in an article without their knowledge or an opportunity to defend themselves?

this dude is a drama queen, defend him all you want though.Rab Florence said:Do you think Lauren acted entirely alone in pressuring Eurogamer to change my piece? Do you think she has that power? I dont. Who do you think MIGHT have that power?

Proof for what?
I want to spoon feed you while making airplane noises with my mouth.this dude is a drama queen, defend him all you want though.

Awesome follow up piece. And while I respect his effort to divert anger towards PR and away from Lauren, I think she deserves every bit of vitriol aimed her way for being a complicit tool of the system and throwing him under the bus in her efforts to pull herself out of the muck she created. 'Apology accepted' still pisses me off.
Proof that she gave Tomb Raider a higher score because she used to work for Square Enix.
One games journalist, Lauren Wainwright, tweeted: "Urm... Trion were giving away PS3s to journalists at the GMAs. Not sure why that's a bad thing?"
Now, a few tweets earlier, she also tweeted this: "Lara header, two TR pix in the gallery and a very subtle TR background. #obsessed @tombraider pic.twitter.com/VOWDSavZ"
And instantly I am suspicious. I am suspicious of this journalist's apparent love for Tomb Raider. I am asking myself whether she's in the pocket of the Tomb Raider PR team. I'm sure she isn't, but the doubt is there. After all, she sees nothing wrong with journalists promoting a game to win a PS3, right?

Man. That follow up piece hits hard.
Really curious about the long term conciquences of this whole shit hole.
He didn't claim that.

It's painfully obvious you have no idea what you are talking about.not defending her, couldn't care less about her, i'm calling him on naming names when he had no reason to in the article he was told to write, then continuing his attention seeking ways in a follow.
