I've said it before, but the one benefit of Brexit and Trump seems to be that it makes the rest of the EU more eager to work together and form a stronger whole. Those two incredibly, depressingly bad examples did shine a light on what would happen if you really decide to burn the house down, and it isn't pretty. The cost was too high, but (and this is depending on the multiple elections coming up), there is a chance that what remains of the EU will come out of his in a stronger, more cohesive position.
