[GfK Chart-Track] UK Yearly Chart - 2016

It sold way less than Destiny... they used $ to spin the fact they sold way less and I have doubts about this $330m like the Halo 5 $500m or CoD $1b.

It is the biggest new IP from Ubisoft.

yes, i do agree that The Divsion sold less units compared with Destiny. Mainly because the last gen versions of Destiny sold for $50 and not $60 and Ubisoft said they had a bigger than usual season pass (gold edition) attachrate at launch.
But if you talk about Revenue, the Ubisoft claim is correct and that game is the biggest new IP this gen.

Both are right. No one is wrong.
But lets not get over ourself and call it WAY less. the actual number is more likely kinda small
The Division was also on PC, while Destiny was just on Console

I think that there was pretty solid evidence that the $500M for Halo 5 included the Halo 5 branded XB1 sales.

I have a feeling Ubisoft choose the $330 number because it is $5m over $325m... they just choose to say they beat Destiny.

Sales numbers have Destiny where way bigger... in UK alone the difference was 400k to 277k.

Yeap these revenue $ are spin.

i know. because mid 2014 vs early 2016 release.
1 1/2 years of growing digital attachrate in the console space
and as i said, the division was also on pc (with 95% digital sales)

that is the biggest part of the huge difference in retail sales in the uk or us

#6 uncharted 4
.
.
.
#46 Halo 5

"Halo 5 will sell day 1 what uncharted 4 will sell in its LTD"

*2015 game vs 2016 game in 2016 chart
halo 5 is the only 2015 exclusive game still charting

Genuinely surprised the XBox One is doing that well, anecdotal evidence but last gen most of my friends in the UK had either a 360 or a PS3 and a 360, this gen I don't know anyone with an XBox One at all and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I think its safe to say UC4 > 500k

pretty much yes.
UC4 also sold over 500k in Germany and the installbase is similar

edit:
sorry it's 100% safe
unlike germany, uk numbers also include bundles copies. so yeah UC4 is above 500k for sure

and if i remember correctly, we have some estimated numbers for Watch_Dogs 2
you better ask Bruno about them

I expected Nintendo to be better placed in software based on the incredible attachment ratio of their games.

Some of my friends kids went PS4 at first but sold them for Xbox One later mainly for Xbox Live and FIFA.

Makes sense really. last gen 360 dominated US and UK and had a foothold in mainland Europe, now PS4 has a narrow lead in US/UK and Xbox lost that foothold across Europe. It's easy to see how XBO is holding up in places it was a landslide before.

Narrow comparatively but the 1.6 million lead is still a lot more. Weird how they'd sell them to get a game that isn't even exclusive.

Yikes at Gears 4.

To think the IP used to be bigger than Uncharted.

used to be does never equals forever under any circumstances

CoD used to be bigger than Battlefield
also not the case anymore (yes still in the uk at retail, but not on a global scale and in pretty much every other market anymore)

The decline is crazy though.

Uncharted 4 at #6 and Gears 4 at #20.

No wonder why Microsoft hasnt released any numbers about the game yet...

Well as for Uncharted's popularity it was heavily marketed. I think the biggest marketing for any Sony game. It had trailers in BVsS and Captain America.

So Homefront in the UK outsold The Last Guardian, Mirror's Edge, Street Fighter 5, Quantum break, and Dead Rising 4?

PS4 still won comfortably in both software and hardware in the UK. one of two markets Xbox is actually putting a fight. add the remaining of EU and the rest of the world to the mix and you realize why MS stopped releasing numbers.
Not bad, I remember when the tides were turning earlier in the year. Congrats to them I guess.

Did it get rapid price cuts in the UK? The price in the US dropped like a brick, because somebody thought releasing it the same month as Uncharted, Doom, and Overwatch was a good idea.

I expected Nintendo to be better placed in software based on the incredible attachment ratio of their games.

All four Nintendo consoles combined have 10.1% market share and Nintendo published games have 8.2%.

That is certainly a pretty incredible attachment ratio.

I find this chart fascinating, although it is strange that the PlayStation 3 had a stronger fourth year than the PlayStation 4. How much is Brexit affecting hardware and software sales?
