IMO, yes. But, GTS is still a good game.So Forza still king?

Hey man, that still hurts.I feel like a band like Opeth shouldn't have changed gone the route they did after Watershed, but hey.
The scores are lower than I expected tbh.
TBF GT3 would have been lucky to score an 80 if it released today. Even if it had damage and top notch graphics. It didnt have much more content and you can see that content is the #1 Con on most critics lists.
If they bring back a traditional campaign I hope to heck it isnt like what we got in GT3-6.

Me as well. Didn't expect many reviewers to compare this to the past few games.

But that's what I and millions of people liked about GT 1-6...
What seems crazy to me is that this reviewer (as well as some others) dings the game on what it isn't supposed to be (a single player offline game), and counts the bonus VR mode (which he seems to love) as a negative because he wants more of it...
Edit: his opinion on what the game actually stands for is: Technical Marvel and Top Notch racing.
That is the theme I am seeing in a lot of these reviews. The IGN review in progress, kind of sounds like 'this game is awesome' but then at the same time 'this game sucks' ... I already smell a 6 or 7/10 from them. To me this seems like one of the best GT game that PD has done. The presentation is top notch, the visuals are stunning, the sound is much improved from last GTs, quality is consistent across board unlike previous GTs ... the only problem is it does not have 1000s of cars which all feel the same. Here at least each car is distinct and it feels different when driven. And of course the online connection which I think is the only real issue here. Not sure if they can fix that down the road with an update to remove that requirement. But I feel like GT needed something fresh and this game brings that to the series. But not everyone will like the changes.
Hey man, that still hurts.
How in depth is the VR mode?
Can I play the entire game in VR or is it limited in some way?

*snip*
Might have been better if they dropped the baggage of the old GT games and from the get go just said "From the Makers of Gran Turismo comes FIA SPORT"
I think we all knew this, but reading it destilled in clear english... you're absolutely right.*snip*

Thats what makes GT releases so great! We have already seen nonsense all across the web!My god, those "user reviews" on meta. Ten's or Zero's accompanied by warring fanboy dribble.

Some of you do realize like 70 more reviews are coming right?I had a feeling 78 would be the average score. Would be very lucky to hit 80 metacritic or higher.
GT is pretty much finished as a series. This was their last chance.

No. Some of them didnt realize this even at 6 total reviews judging by their posts. Some of you do realize like 70 more reviews are coming right?

You know this thread is about Gran Turismo and not Sega GT right? Gran Turismo is far from finished.GT is pretty much finished as a series. This was their last chance.

The bombcast discussion wasn't so bad actually and they make some decent points(and some not so much):
-Peter Brown was very strong on the racing model. Loves the feel. Jeff was about to dig in, but stopped the moment Peter began his lavish praise.
-They commend the tutorials and the attempt to appreciably get players to understand the driving tactics effectively(but both seem uncertain how to parse the helpful youtube videos in claiming that tenth of a second gap to gold though).
-They are both down on the lobby system for online as it has no matchmaking options and there is no real quick or reliable path to go from menu->unranked online race with ease. (I am in agreement here actually)
-They both dislike the 'Sport' mode due to the staggered event list, Jeff especially hated waiting 15m through qualifying races to do one online event on the oval. They both also really disliked feeling penalized by losing rank points to aggressive day 1 drivers that ram them despite making attempts to be cautious themselves. (Arguably this will be a problem for a majority of players, at least until the chaff is broken-in and the assholes move on)
-They both question the effectiveness of the tournament structure. November events feel too distant to care. General unwillingness on both to actively participate or engage with the game until then. (Self-defeating on their part, but they have a point that the online framework is currently missing a more reliable method to get in and race with greater accessibility to practice sportsmanship in a way AI races just cannot)
-Car selection issues(hard to argue here)
-They both do at least agree the game is 'neat and bold' but very much appealing to a specific type of player that they both do not inhabit. (They aren't wrong really) Though their pettiness at balking over the 'museum' aspects and videos comes across as pretentious. Largely contemptuous on their part given their tone and it was kind of hard to listen to.
