Forgive me for the OT-ness of this post, but this is the coolest Grunt I've ever seen. While playing with lazlo, cuban and kylej:

He's under attack!

He can't take much more of this, there's obviously only one way out

Best part was the beginning when the guy was the one insulting, it's so funny seeing the douchebag face of the sad losers spiting out the random stupidity one hears on xbl.

Uh, no?

How would that even make sense? This is a prequel, 343 Halo will most definitely be the return of MC.

Well Noble team hasn't existed in the canon until this point and now Dr. Halsey is talking about picking one of them for some unknown purpose. What's the point of that unless it's something you're going to touch on in another game?

I think I've seen enough Reach stuff, gonna be avoiding alot more of the media so I don't get hit with a hype stick and lose my mind.

Some of the HBO Forum folks started bringing up the term "hyper-lethal" from the Vidoc. I knew I spotted this term before.

What little information I have been able to glean from around all of the redaction [note—I was quite literally expecting the ONI to start redacting page numbers] gives the impression that S-312 is more akin to a hyper-lethal vector than a soldier. A lone-wolf assassin that has broken organizations and made entire militia groups disappear.

Sounds familiar after watching the Vidoc, eh?

That video was pretty fucking funny. After about a minute though it wasn't that funny. Then it just sucked.

Because it's an event in the game.

That gamespot ad looks like a "boardwalk" to me. Pretty much exactly how I pictured that map looking as well, after seeing that white city off in the distance on that beach FF map.
I've pretty much convinced myself thats it.

"Countdown" is likely based off the last level, or something space-ship related ala that launching area before the space combat. Kind of hoping countdown ends up using that really red, fiery sky we see for a second in the very beginning of the lastest vidoc... or we eventually get some DLC from that setting. That skybox looked epic.

God I hate that environment. I'd rather look at the same themed forge maps than that white city/environment. The firefight map looked bad, and so does this. It looks completely bland and ugh... I just can't stand it. =\ I hope that area doesn't make up too much of the campaign.

I'm kinda in the same boat. But I can't complain too much, I got my awesome Covenant themed level. :D

I really hope there is a snow level... Two Betrayals is one of my favorite moments in all of Halo.

The first info outburst had some images with snow, if my memory does not deceive me.

Maybe I'm just making stuff up. I'll check.

EDIT: nevermind, it was just fog in an crappy pic.

I definitely agree. If there's one problem I have with Bungie's city environments it's that they often look too sterile and preserved, completely artificial, and not believably lived-in. I think it works really well on Reflection, but not in that Gamestop video. ODST was a step in the right direction, and what I've seen of the burning city sections certainly indicates that the presentation of human areas is improving. The white area is the first one from Reach, at least, that seems really fake. It's out of place among the rest.

Sweet! You go ahead and reach the next checkpoint and Bungie should warp me to you so they don't have to load up so much of the geometry.

Loved the new ViDoc. Really cool way of doing a ViDoc without having to listen to Bungie's staff ramble. Which is always entertaining in it's own way, but for the purpose of this particular ViDoc, having Halsey narrate is perfect. Well done Bungle.

As for the live action trailer, I didn't think much of it. I was at work all day so is the speculation that were going to fight insurrectionists at some point in Reach?

Can't wait for this game. Halo has always been a franchise that can dominate the holiday, but I think Reach is going to dominate my fall and winter more than ever. Can't wait.

If you've ever been in a game where a girl decides to say something, the exact things that were uttered in that video are uttered but with gender roles switched of course. It's no wonder girl gamers don't talk much online.

I really liked the firefight beach version of this, but this section doesn't do it for me.
I think its the contrast of that orange sky and kind of dingy white environments... not very palette-able.

Though, if I learned anything from Halo 3 - The Pit.... looks ain't everything.
At least it looks like a mid-sized map and not another "Invasion" map. Will wait on the full reveal before I say anything more... I'm already making enough assumptions here.

Also, that last map better have some fucking snow!

Oh man I noticed too. :lol

Seeing actors just flicking the sticks at random ruins every videogame appearance in porn, movies or TV shows. And it happens 98% of the time. Sometimes I think the directors/actors do it on purpose to piss of the nerds.

Nice find. So basically our character, Noble 6, has been fulfilling the duties that Spartans were originally intended to do; put down human insurrectionist groups who oppose the UNSC.

Good fun tonight KyleJ, Cuban and GYEE. I'll try and render that clip of the Grunt being LeBron. I remember seeing Grunts do pretty big leaps during Jungle but never saw a jump this high. I had a great time playing campaign tonight, I'm going to LAN Co-Op Halo: CE with my buddy this weekend so the fiction is somewhat fresh before Reach. It is possible to Co-Op over LAN right?

Yeah, I've seen that, it's a wonderful podcast. It's fascinating to see such a unique perspective on video games, he even notices details that we largely take for granted.

The difference is, he doesn't post on a site like GameTrailers. If the site was geared to players who have never played a first person shooter before - that would be something else entirely. I'd even enjoy watching them play or struggle to win, because I remember that feeling as a kid. But, if GameTrailers wants to claim they are any authority on games, it's kind of a problem.

-It's like if the guys on Top Gear couldn't control super cars and ended up totaling them every episode. :lol

WARNING: This post contains rampant speculation.

That final shot is viewed through a computer screen. You can see words reversed in the bottom left of the screen. I flipped them and blew it up a little:

2lxccqc.jpg

The top line is the chain of command. High Command (HIGHCOM) -> Special War Command (SPECWARCOM) -> Group 3 (which includes Noble Team). The second level appears to be details of an AI using the screen. Auntie Dot's symbol is at the top left of the screen, which says to me that this could be her view. The third line seems to be the location. RCH -> Reach. But none of the other abbreviations match up with any known locations, with the possible exception of SWD -> Sword Base, which is somewhat plausible. It's an ONI facility and Halsey is a member of Halsey, and we don't know the location of Sword Base. It could be a part of CASTLE Base, where Halsey was known to be.

It doesn't appear like Halsey is aware that she's being watched from that computer. My theory is that the room we are seeing is the office of Col. James Ackerson, the head of the Spartan III program. Ackerson likely was a member of SPECWARCOM, but Halsey was not. He had an office in CASTLE Base and was a known rival of Dr. Halsey (and Cortana). Cortana hacked into Ackerson's files before the fall of Reach, which may have touched off her and Dr. Halsey's curiosity, leading them to his office. We may be seeing Dr. Halsey's first discovery of the Spartan III program, and Noble Team. Auntie Dot, who is maybe an AI Ackerson uses for everything Noble Team (you can see her symbol flash in between each member's introduction in the trailer), is serving up footage and bios for the 6 Spartans, maybe with Cortana reading the information to Halsey.

No, I'm afraid Halo 1 (and 2) are one console, one screen only for Co-Op.

That still doesn't explain why she runs down all of their names and attributes then says the whole bit about "only one being responsible for their hope" or whatever, I'm paraphrasing now.

That was just for the trailer, just like Buck's speech from the Desperate Measures trailer for ODST. But we might get a modified version of it in the game. I added clarification of this to my original post.

Indeed, but no worries Lazslo, even on the same screen (maybe especially on the same screen), Halo 1 co-op is a masterpiece of gaming fun.

Yeah, Halo 1 split screen you actually get a wider FOV. It's great.

Well that will certainly help. I just hope the frame-rate will remain stable, sometimes playing on the 360 seems to have an emulator problem that makes the frame rate all screwy.

Yeah, Halo CE coop sucks on the 360, the framerate dips into single digits at times... :( Wish they would just release it on xbla with Live support, achievements, 16:9 1080p native, locked at constant 30fps, etc etc, c'mon Frankles!!

Yeah the xbox emulation the 360 really ruins it =( If you have an original xbox, play on that. Same with Halo 2, which is even worse since it has a weird ghosting glitch on the 360. I got it on Vista and it looks fantastic, but there is no co-op.
