Looking forward to the new achievements with CEA as well.. Im guessing a couple will be associated with the new maps?

Any word on the challenge front regarding the TU? Will challenges be looked at or are we stuck with what we've got? (By that I mean adding completely new challenges... not just changing certain variables and payouts)

The core Reach gameplay will continue to exist, unmolested, alongside new and Anniversary playlists.

Alright, I would have preferred maybe a little bit of molestation (builds character), but thanks for clearing it up.

I really do hope there is a change to the Challenges and ranks in the TU.

Challenges need to be beefier for the most part and there should be ranks for individual playlists and also have an average rank (like Halo 3)

MICROSOFT TAPS IGN AS OFFICIAL MEDIA PARTNER FOR HALO FEST
This November will mark the 10 year anniversary for Halo since it first appeared on the original Xbox as a launch title. IGN will be there covering the event if Halo fans can't make it.

Posted by MDK2002 on Jul 28, 2011 14:56 (33 mins ago)
IGN Entertainment, the world's leading video games media company, has been selected by Microsoft as the official media partner for the first-ever Halo Fest, the expansive Halo event commemorating ten years of the blockbuster franchise, which will take place during PAX Prime 2011, August 26-28th in Seattle.

As Halo Fest's official media partner, IGN will deliver fans unparalleled, extensive Halo coverage leading up to, during and following the first-of-its kind event through a dedicated IGN Halo Fest mini-site: http://go.ign.com/halofest2011.

IGN's coverage of Halo Fest will include extensive video coverage of select Halo Fest tournaments and events – including live webcasts of select Halo Fest panels – as well as teaser articles, behind-the-scenes studio access, VIP interviews, contests and much more. Leading up to Halo Fest, IGN will feature detailed schedules for panels, tournaments and challenges in the Hopper area, and a sneak peak at some of the exclusives of Halo Fest – both giveaways and special appearances.

"The 10 year anniversary of the Halo franchise is an important milestone for us, our fans and the industry," said Frank O'Connor, Franchise Director for Halo at 343 Industries. "IGN's commitment to quality content for their readers and their awesome footprint in the industry make them a perfect fit to partner with on Halo Fest, letting us share the experience with so many fans out there that couldn't make it in person."

"We are thrilled to be working with Microsoft to bring the most in-depth coverage of Halo Fest to millions of rabid fans," said Tal Blevins, VP of Games Content for IGN Entertainment. "We're excited to help Microsoft celebrate the indelible mark the Halo franchise has left on pop culture over the past 10 years!"

In addition, running now through August 1, there are three contests through which fans can submit a piece of artwork, a video or a photograph of their own creation that commemorates the impact of Halo – in exchange for prizes including a walk-on voice acting role in a Red vs. Blue Rooster Teeth production, Acme Archives art-quality prints of their submissions and much more. IGN will sweeten the pot by offering the top five finalists in the forge art and machinima film contests 3-day badges for PAX Prime. For a chance to win, fans can visit https://apps.facebook.com/halofest/.

I didn't even think of Achievements! I'm not OCD about them, but they are fun to go after, and I'm glad they'll be in CEA.

I thought since the new maps were in Reach any related achievements would be for Reach. I expect the achievements in Halo: CEA to all be for campaign.

It's gonna be awesome. I hope they announce what they are at Halo Fest.

True but if they are being treated as "DLC" later, I don't see why they couldn't have their own set of achievements. I doubt they'd do 1 per map since there's 6 (unless they throw in a FF one as well) but 3-4 would be nice.

I'm still not clear on what's the goal of all this so called cleansing movement, is it to cleanse the fecal matter off people after you crap on them instead of just walking away straight after doing the deed and finding someone else to drop your feces on? And how exactly do you poop on them? Seems an awkward endeavor where you could end up getting your butthole fishhooked.

5 days until the Vidoc to end all Vidocs...

I wanted to make a joke about the debt ceiling being raised but I'm not sure if that's on the same day as the vidoc is being released =\

Lol, kind of phallic, no?

I'm listening to the Sparkast right now... fuck me Karen Traviss is boring. I put music on with Spotify without even realizing it because I was so bored. They do eventually talk about Anniversary on this episode, right?

EDIT: Ah, a donging double entendre. Awesome.

Well they also call it donging on kids. And it was mostly meant to reflect the current style of one word per line that ad companies like Playstation keep pushing.

I asked this in the CEA Terminal trailer thread, but I should probably post it here. Why are there only 6 monitors for 7 Halo installations? Or am I miscounting?

I think it got posted a bit ago but yeah it's pretty crazy. I was a little disappointed with the scarabs' role in Reach.
Yeah not to mention the insides of them are completely un-textured and lacking A LOT.

I would still be down for some Campaign DLC where they include some of the stuff they cut. Wasn't there a level where you were driving a Scarab through New Alexandria? I could dig it.

The "insides" are not meant to be viewed by the player. It's like complaining that objects in the distance look like crap up close.

Yep, right after New Alexandria. You would be walking trough the destroyed city.

So please please tell me that IGN isn't going to be allowed to lock any of their HaloFest coverage behind their insider bullshit...errr...service Since they're going to be the "official" media partner.

mmmmmmm I loved Colossus. I think I'm in the minority though. It was one of my favorite maps in Halo 2 (which had the best maps in the entire series.)
Real solid map in Halo 2's set, but comparing it to Halo 3 and Reach maps in its own right, it obliterates them.

I am not betting on ranked playlists or at least until Halo 4 in my view.

And the EXP ranked playlists in Halo 3 were ridiculous. "Hey, Jim, look at this guy! He's a 48 in Social Slayer!"

Yes I understand that but I mean at least try to hide it or something, during my first play through I launched up on it as went "WTF"

All of the content that IGN offers during Halo Fest will also be available on Halo Waypoint pretty quickly.

David, did you guys have to hold off on releasing the Sparkast because it spoiled the Comic Con surprises?

Partly yes. There were some messaging changes that necessitated keeping in the oven a little bit longer. :)
