Harvard Study: Mainstream Media Acted as Trump’s Mouthpiece, Clinton’s Foe

Shocking that the media driven by rating and bottom line would give Trump ample air time, and not Clinton who was for the most part "dry" and didn't bring in ratings.

If another Trump type populist appeared again we'd get the media doing the exact same thing again, guaranteed.

Personality > Politics

Which is absolutely crazy since the rest of the world was able to see through his bullshit and recognize that Clinton was the vastly superior choice instead of, you know, the actual country he was running for president in.

It drives me maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad

It's the outside looking in thing. It's like seeing someone in an absolutely toxic relationship, everyone can see it for what it is, but the person in the relationship can't because of the difference in proximity and attached feelings.

This wasn't anything unique to last election. The media has had a hard-on for "both sides," horse race narratives forever. They have always held the left to a much, much higher standard in an attempt to equate both sides and seem "balanced." The same reason they'll have one person on a panel who believes climate change and one who doesn't, as if they're both equally valid points of view.

People stopped caring about facts, about what objectively is and isn't true, loooong before Trump entered the stage. Republicans have been exploiting it for years. Trump just exploited it to the extreme.

The most grotesque irony in the history of American politics has to be that it was the Clinton campaign that gave the marching orders to their lapdogs in the media to promote Trump (and lol Ben Carson) against all others:

In this scenario, we don't want to marginalize the more extreme candidates, but make them more ‘Pied Piper' candidates who actually represent the mainstream of the Republican Party," the Clinton campaign wrote.

As examples of these ”pied piper" candidates, the memo named Donald Trump — as well as Sen. Ted Cruz and Ben Carson).

We need to be elevating the Pied Piper candidates so that they are leaders of the pack and tell the press to them seriously," the Clinton campaign concluded.

Queen Diva Hillary and her cronies thought they were SOOOOO SMART, except they dug their own grave with pushing Trump to their lapdog yes-men in the media. Great 4D chess there... can we stop giving these out-of-touch elites a pass?

Another way to dig your own grave as a party is to nominate a candidate who is under FBI investigation for running side gigs out of an illegal government server out of her basement, with emails that were bound to drop at any minute.

There was grotesque shortsightedness all around the Clinton/DNC cabal last year. Thanks for Trump!

This is the rule of life to some extent. Just having the credentials doesn't guarantee landing the best positions. Charisma plays a big part. High stats may net some combat wins, but you need to maximize those conversation tree options to see the best ending

It took awhile to articulate in my head just how the Clinton campaign messaging was bad (cause there's only so much you can do to get media to cover when actual policy is "boring") and tbh I realized it's the same general problem Dems have had for awhile. They are too busy responding to and/or achknlowdging Republican talking points. "America is already great". Emails but no tax returns. "Grab em by the pussy" not in court, but Ben Ghazi for 10+.

Seeing a pattern here? I am. You don't have to necessarily ignore them, but don't play on their terms either. Throw your weight around instead of playing nice. They knew Trump before he ran for office. Get legal dirt on him yesterday. And don't stop.

Mueller is getting stuff done but imagine if this had started last year under a diff topic. Or imagine if the Dems poured more resources into destroying the image in Republicans the way Repubs did for Clinton. Cause I do
