HTC Vive shipment delays/issues

Pending charges are most often (but not always) still authorized even if they go away after a few days. It's just that DR didn't collect the money because they didn't ship the Vive.. From what I understand next time they pull for money they'll get them immediately without further authorization from the bank.

Hopefully that's the case then.

Either way - it doesn't matter. If your bank didn't flag it the first time, unless they change details about the transaction, then it should go through just as it did before. But I have also heard from banks and credit card companies that the authorisation can last up to 6 months, but after the initial period it'll release the hold on the money.

To those worried about their CC charge no longer being visible/pending, the same happened to me.

29th February - Ordered at :04, Credit Card
1st April - They held the funds.
6th April - Received shipping notifications from DHL Express that my Vive would arrive on the 11th ('Express' option, but never mind, HTC say they'll refund)
7th April - Received confirmation from HTC with tracking details
9th April - Pending charge had dropped off my account. Had a pizza.
10th April - Full charge taken from CC balance, as people are saying above, will have been authorised so was taken instantly.

Hope that information helps somebody, was very frustrating being left in the dark, and it was DHL who contacted me first to let me know what was going on. If I wasn't active on the Reddit thread I'd have had no idea.

That's interesting, well good news anyway!

You know... How many people actually have a Vive? I feel it's like... 200 people in the general population, max.

I think Job Simulator has around 2000 players (or did end of last week), according to some steam usage stats. So probably somewhere around that amount.

Just read this

"My Vive (Germany) has been delivered today. Two facts for the peace of your souls, guys:
Yet no charge on my CC
I even don't belong to the first minutes orders"

Their messaging seems to be if you ordered and got the Month shown, you'll get it that month. I'm really curious when April is over to see if everyone received theirs.

I'm in May though, so I have some time.

They also have promised 1) They would make 100% sure they sent them out in order now and 2)They were checking each order batch as it went out at corporate to make sure it was in order.
They also seemed to be halting shipping last Thursday to get shit sorted out.
Which of course is obviously now bullshit.

Someone on reddit posted that Digital River fucked up some order before (think it was a capcom special edition of something). I wonder what made them choose them? Well, probably just the lowest bidder. They should've realized when people spend close to 900 dollars on a product, they want their shit.

They said that, but in the same messaging said they are processed in the order they received them. But I ordered my Vive on April 1st and got an April month after people were getting May as a shipping month.

I'm fairly certain they severely underestimated the demand. They probably WERE thinking this would be at the level of some minor collectors edition release for a video game. Instead they got a real solid number of orders.

Any idea around what page the carnage starts? 149 pages total and most of the early ones seem optimistic.

You can just got to the last page and read backwards. It's in essence the same kind of order shenanigans they're pulling now.
Sold more than they had, then a slew of shipping issues later.

Oh and the credit card issues with surface book pre-orders:

Actually the reviews from people who purchased digital river as an ecommerce vendor are more telling than anything....
Sounds like even HTC may have a hard time getting them on the line.

From your G2Crowd link, I wonder if this is why HTC is having such a huge issue getting the :01 - :04 people figured out:

Their customer service is atrocious. You cannot self serve as an organization, your Customer Service has to reach out to their customer service regarding things like Wire Transfers, payments, account management, orders within accounts. There is no 'in depth' investigation you can do regarding an order when a customer has a question, they force you to reach out to them for everything

3 working days without any real UK shipment, leaving all of us early UK orders that got skipped over still no better off. They say they've fixed the issues, but the problem is, it seems likely at the moment that they're simply out of UK stock (for the time being).

They can't admit that, because that means they gave a load of stock to the wrong people, fucking over those people who put in the effort to order ASAP.

Germany xx:06 orders are going out, Finland xx:08, Spain xx:05
Oh that's nice. Does that mean Europe is getting their Vives?

No -- only one small country of indomitable people still stubbornly holds out against the Vive preorder shipments.
