They need to introduce a new type. There's dark type pokemanz, so why not light?
Please don't start this. I'd like to keep my sanity intact for the big reveal.

I hope the NoA tweet means that whatever comes will have a worldwise release for once.
If your in-game team doesn't include a 'mon that learns Strength, you can't use it to face Red in HGSS, the most powerful trainer in the game. Instead, you're swapping out one of your team for an HM slave, which can cripple you. What's wrong with HMs now?
They just unlock totally optional areas. And it's not like they're such horrid moves for in game.
Infinite-use TMs were a step in the right direction, but what with there still being HMs and having several other archaic throwbacks and inconsistent UI dealios in there were just icing on the cake. It just soured me on the whole experience.

Maybe they could finally retire Ash? That would be an evolution after all, and it's been a long time coming. A bit risky, but at least it'd give the anime a much needed kick in the pants to escape it's repetitiveness. As for the future aspect? I guess some planets could be inspired by present day, or even medieval times? I've heard a few fans wish for a Pokemon set back in ye old days. But, again, I aren't too big on the rumour. I DO wish for customizable trainers though. Hell, it'd be stupid for it not to happen.

NOA hasn't tweeted anything.
Since multiple time zones are saying January 8th, I wonder if the announcement is going to happen at the same time in multiple regions simultaneously, or if it will go live for each region at their respective xx:xx time on January 8th.
Being able to drag and drop from the box into your team on the one screen was an excellent touch. They really should merge the two teams into one and let the remake guys handle the UI. After HG/SS, I trust them for that much.*
Honestly it just makes sense. It been forever since they did a new type.
Nice, alright then.Yeah - it's different, due to the show changing its time and DST over here.
But it may be wise anyway to skip the first 30 minutes if you're in a rush. Or skip the first 55 minutes, heh.
dialga?

If they want to do it at the same time worldwide, there's such a neat way to do it:Nintendo Direct!
As far as I can tell, no official Nintendo source has said a word about this in any region.
Surprised we still haven't got a tiger... or PLATYPUS.
The only reason they added the two types in Gen II was to balance out Psychic, which was an unstoppable beast at the time. It took years for Steel and Dark to live up to their purpose, and it took another major mechanics change, the physical/special split in Gen IV, before they could effectively police it. They've stated several times in interviews that they don't want to introduce a new type just because of all the rebalancing it would take.
Plus Dark already has a "light" counterpart in Fighting.
There was an easy fix to nerfing Psychic - make some decent Bug-type and Ghost-type Pokémon and give them some decent moves. In Gen 1, Leech Life was the only stat-based damage dealing Bug move and Lick was the only equivalent on the Ghost side of things. Give each type a Flamethrower/Surf/Ice Beam/Thunderbolt equivalent and tweak type resistances a but and the Psychc domination all but disappeared. The only reason they added the two types in Gen II was to balance out Psychic, which was an unstoppable beast at the time. Dark and Steel were never required.
Make bug and electric resistant to psychic. Bam!Yes, they were. Nothing resisted Psychic until they came along.

Squirrel's saying they could've tweaked existing types to add Psychic resistances.Yes, they were. Nothing resisted Psychic until they came along.

Still, I've no problem with Steel and Dark. I think the way things have worked out, the types are achieving something akin to a good balance.
It's worth noting that Steel is also the only type that resists Dragon. If any type is overpowered in modern Pokemon it's Dragon.
Even if it's Gen VI, it's not like it's coming out here until like 2014. Got plenty of time. It's not gonna be cool if Gen VI is announced.... I mean, we haven't got all Pokémon for Gen V... Meloetta is missing in the rest of the world....
You're right, but like Leech Life and Lick, they too were weaksauce. Plus the hit/miss roll that would happen on each consecutive attack made them way too unreliable for my taste.Weren't Pin Missile and Twin Needle stat based bug moves? I know they weren't very common though.
I don't have an issue with Dark and Steel existing, but I'm arguing that they weren't actually required.Squirrel's saying they could've tweaked existing types to add Psychic resistances.

New Pokemon snacks will be released worldwide!
They need to rebalance a few types before adding another type anyways, but I still would like to see a new type. I really want Pokemon to take it to the next level, I'm tired of playing the same old same old over and over.
Give water a weakness to Bug. You know it makes sense! They really need need to give ice Pokemon Dragon resistance, and give water another weakness. Perhaps remove ice moves from water Pokemon too since it kinda takes away what little Ice has. Either way, there is still a lot of balancing that needs to be done.
Make bug and electric resistant to psychic. Bam!
TOO BAD!
i'd only accept that if you give me another modern series that plays similar. by virtue of being the same, there's nothing like Pokemon right now. nothing at all.

pokegaf and I never agree it seems.
Poison should be NVE on water, bug and rock, and immune to poison. Then the new age of poison ruling the metagame will rise.
But it's more like, the poison will be diluted and not nearly as effective as it would on a normal Pokemon.I've always thought that poison should be SE on water. Liquid poison would spread quickly within it. Toxic destroys water stalling so it already kind of is.
The rumor sounds neat. If the versions have greater amounts of exclusives, I'd rather they just base the different versions on different regions.
Pokemon Gen VI - Kanto/Johto version, Hoenn Version, Sinnoh Version, versionRumored Spacebase
Of course, sales might strongly bias one version over the othersKanto/Johto lol
Magnemite and its evolutions switching types and Alakazam getting its stats nerfed were pretty basic changes. It would've been an option, but adding the super resistant Steel type opened up the possibility of defensive play, and with an extra Dragon resistance in-game they were able to add more Dragon moves and Pokemon. Dark gave Fighting a new lease on life, since it formed another elemental triad with Psychic and gave more reason to include Bug coverage, and give another counter to Ghost now that its effectiveness on Psychic was unbugged.
There were a lot of ways to immediately fix Psychic, but adding the two types brought balance and more options to the game and kept some consistency with Gen I, so that nobody had to re-learn the game.

This discussion makes me think that as much as I loved Gen 1, damn those games were an unholy, buggy, unbalanced mess. Between dual types not getting their resistances/weaknesses displayed properly in battle, the Ghost/Psychic resistance thing and the severe lack of Ice/Bug/Ghost type 'mons/moves, they really needed some deep fixes.
I can agree with that. Poison hitting water for 2x would also help fix water types.I've always thought that poison should be SE on water. Liquid poison would spread quickly within it. Toxic destroys water stalling so it already kind of is.
If we're talking about types, I still don't get what's going on with poison. Poison should be one of the best types in the game yet it's easily the worst.
Being poisoned should cut special attack in half (just get rid of toxic poison), AND have a chance to make them flinch (like being paralyzed both cuts speed and flinches). Poison should be super effective on psychic, and not the other way around. Poison attacks should have as much chance to paralyze as they do to poison, and at least some of them should have a chance to burn. And why the HELL is steel immune, that stuff's just freaking soy sauce. On fighting types, poison should cut defense in half instead of special attack.
