IndieGogo - Windows 10 GPD Handheld -299$ "A Laptop Fitting in Your Pocket"

The thing is, people want something that resembles the Vita more - with the L2 and R2 of course. There is really no "need" for a keyboard. Make the device a touchscreen so there is an on-screen keyboard.

Throw a USB-C port on that thing for accessory support.

Dam....I wish SONY would just give us a Vita successor. I am probably going to quit console gaming at this pace.

Ah what the hell, I'm in.
They've got images of sample shells and related bits on the campaign page, Facebook page and website.

From the campaign
And from a news release on their website of a model next to what I assume is a 3dsxl
Still may not like that keyboard but it'll work well enough for what I want it for.

Sorry for double post but wifi chip will be changed.
A tad engrishy.
Really a Excited Update

GPD win will change the Wi-Fi chip.

Considering many contributions hope win can support dual channel WiFi,so we decide to change the single channel Wi-Fi chip into dual channel Wi-Fi chip.So it means GPD WIN now can support 2.4GHz and 5GHz dual channel wireless connection. That’ s to say. GPD WIN can both support 802.11b/g/n and 802.11a. The former chip can run WiDi technology. But for this modification,This dual channel chip can only support Miracast, While it should don’t affect the players demands of mobile wireless projection. Cause Miracast and WiDi is shared.

They also changed the campaign name to "GPD WIN Intel Z8550 Win 10 OS Game Console" which honestly I preferred the original name to this.

For you.
The design for the thing is finished, here's a 3D print of what it will look like

In recent updates:
-Bluetooth 4.1 support
- Xinput support( was already confirmed, but they now added a Xbox Guide button)

Awesome! It looks good. Ever since you mentioned it in that Steam Machine thread, OP, I've been really excited for it.

I'm so on the fence about this thing. I like the idea but I feel like Android is better suited for these things. Then again, Having Steam is huuuuge

Really interesting! I like the design but i'm not sure about the lack of keyboard and the presence of a second screen.

In a comment on youtube it's said that the price is still unknown, but they are aiming for no more than 220 dollars for the base version.

Yeah, which would be a great price point.

My only reservation is that it's a "too good to be true" scam. I guess we'll find out soon enough, but if it's real, then it could be a very interesting machine.

Almost too good to be true, if it is real im extremely interested. Also a new thread for this might be good if it turns out to be real.

HOLY SHIT !!!
TO MY VEINS !!
Although I'm disappointed about the Pro version being this high resolution display :/ I'd love a lite version with 720p with the pro specs.

This could be cool for playing indie RPGs which I can't seem to play on monitor/big screen, but I think there are better alternatives for that.

It looks very pie in the sky, but at least if it's real you can simply set game resolutions to 720p and it should pixel double just fine to 1440p.

two screens? what?

if this thing exists, no way it's less than 400

2 screens on windows 10 handheld seems moronic. And yes it will be very exxy if it materialises, 2 screens, HD/QHD displays and 128gb SSDs? Like wut

I know but think about it: I could set game resolution to 360p and it should pixel double just fine to 720p. Which means I have more chance to play native res games or quarter of that resolution. 1440p means no native res, lesser battery life. But yeah, reading the whole thing, it looks like bullshit :")

Well it's what is said in a comment:

"Алишер Маминов На текущем этапе рано формировать окончательную стоимость, однако команда основательно нацелена не выходить за рамки 220 долларов за младшую версию."

google translated:
"Alisher Aminov At this stage too early to form the final cost, but the team is fundamentally aimed not go beyond 220 dollars a younger version."

I agree that the price seems too low(remember that's for the base version though), but even if it's higher i wouldn't mind.

I'd gladly pay 350 dollars for this though, if the promise is real.

I'm really, really hoping it's real. There are a few red flags (mainly the price and the lack of solid material to go with these wonder-specs), so do be cautious - but I'm keeping a very close eye on it.

The Amiga Brotherhood
For those who didn't notice there are 2 versions, the main differences are:

-Hardcore:
1440p
8gb ram
128GB SSD
Built-in 5.0 speakers
Built-in cam and webcam (8.0MP/2.0MP)
Telescopic analog sticks
Li-Po 6120mAh battery
164.1 x 84 x 1.8 mm,
320 g

-Lite:
720p
4gb ram
64GB SSD
stereo speakers
Built-in cam and webcam (5.0MP/1.3MP)
non-Telescopic analog sticks
Li-Po 4080mAh battery
160.0 x 81 x 1.4 mm
245 g

I would buy the Lite version honestly.

I would too, because of the lower res. But I'm disappointed about the battery in the lite. 4080mAh isn't enough.

Would that PGS thing make for a good machine to run Dolphin on? I'm on the never-ending hunt for a handheld device to use Dolphin with...

Soothsayer
The PGS thing screams fake to me because of the lower screen showing a track map in that racing game which doesn't seem possible unless they've got some magic WiiU style second screen code.

Official info via the Eurogamer forums (mind the obviously non native English language):

"Hi. We know about keyboard detection issue in some games. To solve this problem, we wrote a simple driver that emulates a keyboard connection.
The already have prototypes. We plan to release the final examples of the device in June-Jule 2016."

http://www.eurogamer.net/forum/thread/319258?start=30

Chances are, this place will be so flooded with NX news that we may not notice if this thing is real or not...

Now try to find one with a Z8550 for that price...

Yeah, a random Chinese tablet with a Z8300, 32GB of probably very slow storage, iffy touchscreen, build quality and 2GB of RAM can't be a price bar here.

PGS looks very interesting. I am still thinking fake, but man, I would buy the shit out of the upper end version if this is real. I would buy that before NX, PS4K, Vita HD Super Elite, etc...

The one silly thing that is actually kind of making me believe this might be real is that their website is very professionally done. Usually "fly by night" scammers don't bother putting in that sort of an effort.

lol, why do the anti-hotlink images from China always look like that? What does it actually say?

Either way, these guys are bringing their A-game, I wish them a lot of success. I almost contributed for one but I just don't have the money right now, I might back later since I see preorders are still open, but I think they're a little more expensive now. They're $330 now but were $300 during the campaign, right??

When Vita and 3ds stops getting New games. This kind of Device might be my replacement. Depends also what NX is, but I'd love Steam in a handheld.

I guess they never bothered to address the complaints about L3/R3 being in a weird spot.
