01./01. [NDS] Pokemon Black 2 / White 2 <RPG> (Pokemon Co.) {2012.06.23} (¥4.800) - 416.850 / 2.035.471 (-74%)

Even if 2 million is a huge mark it looks bad compared to the first title (3.409.457 same time frame)

it's only on track to sell 3-3.5 millions which is more than Platinum but lower than Heart Gold/ Soul Silver. Basically it is selling like how Pokemon Grey would sell if Grey is released.

Oh thank you sweet Sales Age Gods.

Famitsu numbers in all their glory.

Is it really that confusing? The archive is based on Media Create threads and we could get last week's Famitsu hw numbers from half year report, except from PS2.

It's confusing because if the thread isn't created for a Media Create chart, why title it as such? What happens in an hour? Is the chart going to be completely replaced and the Famitsu sales removed? If so, why not just make a MC thread at the usual time? If both the MC and Famitsu chart is going to be retained in the OP, then we should consider a different sort of thread title if it becomes a regular thing.

Yes great isn't that like a 50% increase from last week? I hope you don't think a 250$+ condole with expensive proprietary cards and no system sellers besides persona had a chance of outselling 3ds. Vita is doing just fine.

I wouldn't say this is fine, but okay.

Nah, it really isn't.

Hopefully monster hunter doesn't ruin this thread.
Why would it? As long as it is sales related and the discussion is on a normal level, i dont see how a thread can be ruined.

Miku at the end of august.
I wonder if Vita sales can stabilize at +10k or if they will drop on pre-Persona levels soon. I guess it also depends on what kind of impact the 3DS LL launch will have on its sales, next two months could be horrible for Vita.
I think that it will drop down to sub 10k in 3-4 weeks.

Hoping for a resurgence of FE next week!

Pokemon did as I thought it would. But that is a lot lower then B/W. Could Nintendo not have restocked and thus limiting supply? I still think Gen V should have been on the 3DS. Imagine the hardware sales...!

Isn't it more something "in between" a Gray or a new Episode?

No, it's tracking far better than all previous third entries, and therefore it's likely Grey would haven't sold so much.

Ok, that what I meant

Perhaps just change the thread title to "Japanese Sales" and include both lists in the OP for easy comparison??

That's one possibility. I'm just sounding out how we have an inconsistency now, and we should think of a better way of presenting it if this is going to be a regular thing. It's not a huge deal right now, but we should definitely plan ahead.

I suggested at the time that the thread should either read "Japanese Weekly Sales" with the OP including either tracker's numbers, or that the thread should read "Famitsu Weekly Sales", since the Famitsu numbers went up first.

We had a debate about this circa 2009 or so when someone tried to argue with me that Media-Create was the superior tracker, since it was in the thread title, even though Famitsu numbers were released earlier--I'm not sure if you remember, but which one releases earlier alternates depending on who leaks what early ;).

I suggested at the time that the thread should either read "Japanese Weekly Sales" with the OP including either tracker's numbers, or that the thread should read "Famitsu Weekly Sales", since the Famitsu numbers went up first.

Yeah I remember those days. I think that we should definitely have transited to "Japanese Weekly Sales" for consistency, but since MC became the only tracker to provide numbers on time for the last few years I guess we just stuck with this. Who knows how long this Famitsu release will last though. I recall when 4Gamer first started posting Media Create sales numbers early, we didn't believe it would last either. Hopefully both trackers stick to this format.

If anyone else has ideas about this, I think we'll all be happy to hear it. To clarify, I feel that the thread is not confusing in any way to the regular guys who post on Japanese sales threads, because we know what's going on, but the disconnect between the thread title and the actual info in the OP right now would definitely confuse or possibly mislead people who aren't regulars in these threads, and I think it would be good if we can avoid that.

Thread is titled "media create", content of thread is discussion of famitsu data. How dare you say that's confusing!

"Japanese Weekly Sales: Week __" would be a fine thread title. That would be better for GAF newcomers and other people who don't pay much attention to sales numbers as well since many have no idea what the hell Media Create is.

I'm not confused ^^. But calling the threads japanese sales instead of Media Create sales is also ok by me.

What are the differences between Famitsu and Media Create sales? I mean I know these 2 "companies" are tracking Japanese sales but I don't know what are the differences.

It was always going to be a hard sell for Nintendo to bring B2W2 on par with their predecessors. A lot of people must be assuming that they are nothing more than third versions, expect with the changes implemented across two games rather than one.

I wonder if we will see this pair have slightly longer legs than other major Pokemon titles as word is spread about them being entirely new games.

That's not completely correct.
B2/W2 are new games, but they're not a new generation. They don't have +100 new Pokémon or a new region.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Japanese Sales: Week____
It seems good enough for me.

I don't see the problem, Media Create numbers will be posted in less than an hour.

In the past the gap was higher, now there will only be 2 hours of difference between Famitsu and Media Create numbers.

What are the differences between Famitsu and Media Create sales? I mean I know these 2 "companies" are tracking Japanese sales but I don't know what are the differences.

There aren't any differences, both are equally reliable.

Fair enough, although the region is mostly redesigned, as per my understanding. Aside from the lack of all-new creatures, the rest is new content.

The difference is that they are two different companies tracking Japanese sales and hence the numbers are different. For the sake of accuracy when discussing and comparing information, it is best to compare numbers from the same tracker. Aside from that, as long as people realize there are two different trackers, there aren't a lot of fundamental differences.

They should really lower the prices on digital PSP titles to increase PSP owners to switch over. Or at least do a short campaign.

It's kind of like the difference between VGChaaaarrttz and NPD.

Not really

I think we should try the Japanese Weekly Sales title format out. Even if we end up getting only Media Create or Famitsu numbers first in future, that name would still be relevant regardless of tracker. If both numbers somehow dry up, we still have Dengeki sales as back up and the title would still be accurate! (loooooooool)

Japanese Weekly Sales: Week 26, 2012 with Famitsu Sales: Week 27, 2012 (Jun 25 - Jul 01).

Please, return to the good old Media Create topics.

PSV is seeing regular 'boosts'; but still MGS numbers are very bad, specially considering that it's not getting much releases anyway

How does Ayesha's opening compare to previous PS3 Atelier openings? I honestly don't remember.

Persona is showing better legs than I thought it would although it won't chart for a 4th week in the top 20. 200k retail sales is close at hand so that's a big win for Atlus. Metal Gear performed in line with expectations I think. It's a pretty saturated market for those games at this point and like someone else said it's basically free money for Konami.

Culdcept started really well. 3DS is turning into a software selling machine which 3rd parties love to see. July should be a strong software month for the 3DS all the way around.

Anyone know what the expectations were on Robotic:Notes? Did it just sneak up on everyone?
