He was booked before this all blew up and frankly given the style of the show I'm sure they'll be fine with it. He'll get ripped for what's been going on and everyone will get to laugh at him.

Also remember that it isn;t the BBC that makes this. They pay Hat Trick to make it so may well not have much control over who appears or anything like that.

No love lost between Merton/Hislop and Deayton, Merton in particular disliked Deayton even before the scandal. I doubt he wants to go back and I doubt the show would want to have him back.

Angus Deayton was fired from the job because it was very hard to joke about news when you are the news apparently.

No he wasn't.

He was fired because it was a convenient excuse to fix the fact the show was falling apart behind the scenes as Merton and Hislop fucking hated him, and it was in retrospect an awful mistake that should have been undone many years ago.

"On reflection, Jeremy Clarkson has decided not to host Have I Got News for You. We fully expect him to resume his hosting duties later in the year," Hat Trick Productions's managing director Jimmy Mulville told the London Evening Standard.
