1.5 was first announced in September 2012. Here's a Joystiq article from September 19, 2012: http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/19/kingdom-hearts-1-5-hd-remix-announced-for-ps3-features-remaster/

So it was announced just before TGS, just under a year ago.

There's no guarantee that the same will happen with 2.5, but it's pretty likely.
Ah ok. Guess we'll find out soon.
Okay, guys.

My hypothesis:

"Unversed" was originally "unbirth" - in fitting with the Birth By Sleep title - until someone at Square-Enix realized that the English version of that word is also the name of a hideous animated-porn/furry fetish and that kids would google it and find a bunch of hideous shit.

Discuss.
I honestly wouldn't doubt this being the reason for the namechange.
I'm expecting a TGS announcement and a Spring release for Japan like 1.5. In keeping up with one KH a year it should be announced soon for a release next year, and I don't expect it'll take so much work that it'll come out Summer or Fall in Japan.
I'm expecting a March/April release for 2.5 as that's what in the past few years (for the mostpart anyway) they tend to release on unless development of it started later pushing it to later in the year.
I would actaully like the gap between releases to be simultaneous or at least closer. It's 2013. Why does the rest of the world have to wait when every other game company is keeping the gap between their releases between mere weeks and even on the same day. Pokemon is now adapting this trend. Why isn't Square? Especially since they want that AAA title status.

I expect 2.5 release to be a little more closer in release gaps. Inexcusable a 10 year old game already mostly translated took 6 months to release elsewhere.
It's Square-Enix so I've learned to expect this with them. I would hope that 2.5 takes less to localize given the new voicework and translations required is significantly lower compared to 1.5 though.

I just finished Aggrabah and i should say, i don't know if i'm becoming more stupid as i get older or i was really a brilliant kid because i got no idea what to do after i talked to Leon on TT (2nd visit). x_x

I'll go with the first option.

Anyway, i'm enjoying it a lot, it certainly looks and sounds glorious, and makes me remember the time when i first played it... 7 years gone so fast.

While everyone's playing 1.5, I've finally borrowed a PSP today, getting started with BBS now. Ugh, all those intro cutscenes were very confusing. Why does Ventus looks exactly like Roxas (who, in turn, bears a striking resemblance to Sora)? The source of this confusion is probably me not having played KH2, but that'll have to wait. Seems like a great game, the graphics are simply breathaking compared to even the best-looking DS games. Well, that's to be expected, but it's been a long time since I properly played a PSP game.

Is there a suggested order for the scenarios? I chose Aqua for now, but it's still not too late to switch over.

Ventus-Roxas is actually explained in BBS itself. But you should play KH2 anyway.

And do NOT start playing as Aqua. She's supposed to be the finale.
Official recommended order is TVA, but some people preffer VTA. I think any is fine as long as you don't start as Aqua.

Oh, okay, thanks. I'll start as Terra then! How different are the scenarios, by the way?

Well, they are similar because of all the same worlds for everyone but there are of course differences. Bosses are mostly different, playstyles and abilities differ and cutscenes too of course.

They are all unique in terms of story, and some places are visited in a different order or not available at all depending on the character. They also meet up sometimes a la Resident Evil 2.

BTW Tenrius if lil smaller battery life is not a problem remember to change the processor speed and colour from config menu if you haven't already. Improves framerate on some situations+better graphics <3

I have, didn't notice that much of a difference though. Don't really care about the battery life, I mostly play my handhelds at home anyway.

That first Terra boss is pretty hard.

You can use cure with Aqua D-Link. Another way to perhaps make it easier if you really have problems is to kill enemies with Aqua D-Link on till they drop D-Link emblems that level your D-Link up (D-Links have 3 levels). Lvl 3 Aqua D-Link gives you auto-life ability that resurrects you if you die.

BBS is kinda like KH1 where the first bosses are hardest until the late game. Tho have fun, Terra has the hardest last boss in the game.

Yeaahhh I beat the Ice Titan and Kurt Siza fucking finally.
It's totally shit that you don't get anything for beating Ice Titan in original KH 1 tho. Up next there's Sephiroth and the Phantom ;___:

Got him. I did follow your advice and levelled the D-Link up, but I didn't really need Auto-Life in the end, because I got two regular levels in the process, which considerably bumped my damage.

True, I think I had 2 level ups because I had to retry it for like 10+ times >:|

You have to stay close to one of the top corners of the arena , that'll let you anticipate their trajectories better and avoid most of the abuse. In case you forgot, make sure you have anti-Ice gear on. It goes pretty smoothly once you practice with it. It's apparently much faster in the Final Mix due to the Tech Point skills.

FUCKING

POT

SCORPIONS

RUINING MY FUCKING DAY

FUCK YOU

WHY WERE THOSE POTS EVEN THERE

WHO WOULD DO THIS

FUCK

Fucking Agrabah man.
Agrabah is up there right next to Wonderland in my list of terrible KH worlds.

So glad I'm done with that bastard, all I have to fight now is Sephiroth and the Phantom, I gave Sephiroth a go today and I think I stand a chance as long as I have Elixirs in hand.

Someone needs to make a version of this image only replacing Ohio with Agrahbah.

So Im interested how they are going to sperate the battle systems between KH3 and FFXV since Versus was supposed to be FF with KH combat.

So I just beat BBSFM all the way through for the first time. The normal secret ending is the shit, the final story boss fight was redonkulously hard at first, and the secret aqua story doesnt add much.

I think its interesting though that the final mix secret ending is just a trailer for a game that never got made. Its incredibly obvious the way that it flashed between 3 characters (aqua, mickey, riku) all of whom have very clear stories to tell; Aqua travelling through worlds sent the to land of darkness and being a badass survivalist for 12 years, mickey during the events of KH1 and obtaining the darkness keyblade, and riku's travels from CoM to the end of 358/2. Ultimately though, none of those stories really need to be told given what info we've recieved in the other games. I cant imagine rikus story would give us anything we didnt pick up in CoM or KH2, and aqua is limited to doing nothing significant because shes trapped in darkness alone.

Starting up a critical run of DDD now, first I've played it since I beat it at release. Wish me luck, considering how bad I am remembering the right pets to raise.

Aqua and Mickey's journeys (likely together) through the World of Darkness could always be chronicled post-KH3, especially as a way to help introduce whoever the series villain will be after Xehanort.

I don't think we'll hear more about *new* KH games until after KH3, though, of course.

I'm almost convinced that Braig is gonna pull some shit and betray Xehanort and then become the next big Villain. It's weird that
he didn't answer Sora when Sora asked him why he was going to become a Xehanort
in Dream Drop Distance

I could see it being Braig or Vanitas, or someone dating all the way back to the original Keyblade War.

And the second boss was really easy. Something I don't like about the locations is that they are all pretty much huge empty rooms. The price of everything else looking that neat, I guess.

But what of the future of the series? By its very existence, HD 1.5 ReMix creates an expectation that the second cycle of Kingdom Hearts games will be getting the HD treatment. The fact that a series of high-definition clips from Kingdom Hearts II, Birth by Sleep, and Re:coded make an appearance in the closing credits of HD 1.5 ReMix seems to all but confirm Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMix is on the way, but Hashimoto isn’t prepared to make it official just yet. "If everyone plays 1.5 HD ReMix, if everyone likes it and everyone supports us, then 2.5 HD ReMix could happen," he says. "So at this stage, we just have to encourage people to play 1.5 HD ReMix!"

... "could" happen? Guy's a producer, but this worries me a bit. Do we know sales for 1.5?

I got a 3DS and KH 3D today and I was wondering, why do they use reskinned KH1 models instead of KH2?

Technically Sora's got a new character design with regard to clothing (but it uses his KH1 face, yeah). Can't remember if Riku's clothes get a redesign too.

Any of the 'major' KH titles (KH1, KH2, BBS, DDD) gets major new character designs for the playable character(s). Even though KH3 won't have Sora getting a year older the way KH2 did, I expect we'll see a bunch of new character designs/clothing designs for that one. I wonder if Lea's going to abandon his Organization cloak for something more reminiscent of what he wore as a child.

I'm especially looking forward to lots of new Keyblade Armors for Sora, Riku, Kairi, Mickey, Lea, et al (and, hopefully, using the keyblade-ship thingy to get from world to world instead of Gummi Ships).

KH3's artstyle might be slightly different as well, but it's so early to say anything concrete about what in that KH3 teaser will remain when this actually gets into production.

I really really hope not, I'd like someone new in the next saga. With that said Nomura's the one in charge of this series so who knows.

I believe it did pretty decent/good for a HD remaster, but I'm basing this off of my vague memory of the first few weeks of Japan sales data and the UK charts so I could be way off course.

I was a bit worried after that quote aswell, but Nomuras comments have prettymuch confirmed it so I'm assuming they're just keeping quiet.

Yeah. I know the teaser showed Sora in his KH2 clothes, but it's clearly pre-alpha concept footage. I think that by the time the game is fully in development, we'll see some sort of new character design for him (likely not aging him up again by very much, but certainly giving him a new set of clothes).

Just hit "play all" on the 358/2 Days movie, turned off the tv, went out to do grocery shopping and get some iced coffee, and came back to a bunch of trophies without having to watch any of that tripe. Scrolled rapidly through all of the journal and diary entries to get the remaining trophies. Now I'll get a few bonus cards in Re: Chain of Memories HD. #winning

I did it in about 15 minutes of hitting start and skipping cutscenes. After I clear KH1 and CoM I'll go back to it and watch it all.

Doesn't Re:CoM have a cutscene viewer after you complete the game? In that case, the best thing might actually be to sort of try to merge the two stories together. I'm sure someone will likely try to put together one coherent chapter-by-chapter chronology of 358/2 Days, Chain of Memories, and Reverse/Rebirth so they can all be watched as a single story, mainly to give Axel a more coherent story arc.

Ah, the Kingdom Hearts' VA. How many times can a man say "the Unversed!" and "Master Xehanort!" with the exact same intonation? Someone named Jason Dohring surely knows the answer.

Looks like we're getting some new Kingdom Hearts III footage at D23, wonder if that was the special surprise that was going to be shown at the event.

If 2.5's not shown then the only other place I can think of for Square-Enix to announce it this year is Jump Festa.

Tetsuya Nomura released this statement

http://kh13.com/news/43406-coverage-kingdom-hearts-at-d23-expo-japan
Nomura : Regarding D23 Expo Japan, this is the first time that Disney holds such an event outside the U.S., so it is a great honor for us to be invited. I’m very happy that we have the opportunity to hold a special conference for KINGDOM HEARTS. I really want to make a surprise announcement for this event but it is currently under discussion, so we’ll see (laughs). Since we announced KINGDOM HEARTS III at E3, we cannot make another announcement for the same game. Instead we will announce something else, which you will see soon enough.
