Only a little more time until the 358/2 Days movie is released with those games attached to it.

Whose excited?
I was until I saw that they didn't make any new cutscenes for the boss fights so the last few days are completely ruined.

The Xion boss fight is horrendous so I'm glad we don't see her gross 'final form' or whatever that Nobody thing is. Would have loved, though, to have had a brief but well-choreographed Keyblade battle scene between Xion (remaining a human the whole time) and Roxas (see also the addition of that Cloud vs. Sephiroth battle scene for KH1:FM). It's not my favorite game but I totally agree that the flow of things is really bizarre without some kind of fight actually taking place.

Ditto for the fights with Riku and stuff.

You spend so many missions setting up the devices that allow her to transform so it would be difficult to write them out and fill all the newly created plot holes. Maybe they could have redesigned them?

I was expecting an awesome cutscene where Roxas desperately tries to bring Xion to her senses but in the end he has no choice but to defend himself. As the awesomely choreographed fight goes and Xion's power begins to fade, Sora's memories start leaking out and Roxas struggles to remember who she she is and why he's even fighting her. And all the while Vector to the Heavens plays.

That depends on whether they show up in the other cutscenes. It wouldn't be super hard to write them out altogether, IMO.

I think they are also mentioned in the cutscenes that show mission briefings and they are also in the secret reports.
The hardest thing to do would be to explain what happened to Xion after Axel brought her back. It would make the Organization XIII look really dumb if they just let her go after struggling so much to capture her.

EDIT: The devices are also the reason that the organization wants to capture Xion instead of just killing her.

after switching to PC and swearing off of console gaming, when kh3 was announced everything i knew was promptly erased from my mind.
this is the only valid argument i have for buying a ps4 and i may just end up doing so because of this series.
i've waited too long not to play the final installment.

The devices aren't mentioned in the secret reports, but the motives for wanting to capture Xion are. I don't know if Roxas's Diary or the Secret Reports appear in the 358/2 Days HD movie version, but hopefully (it'd be kinda incomplete without them).

Also: I just realized that Dream Drop Distance doesn't have anything remotely resembling Ansem Reports, Secret Reports, Xehanort Reports, and so on. Weird, huh? Of all the games, it's probably the one whose convoluted ending could really do with some additional explanation.

Just a bit of advice. Catch up on the story (read up,watch it, play it, whatever).
The non-numbered titles (Birth by Sleep in particular, it's a numbered title in spirit) still contain a humongous amount of plot and set up that's lead to this point. If its anything like KH II you're liable to get lost if you don't.

i've actually done that already. bought bbs and CoM back in the day and watched the cutscenes for the rest on youtube. the story is so crazy and convoluted now, but i have to play kh3 so that i know i didn't waste my time, haha.

Just over a week left until TGS, and just over a month left until D23 Expo Japan.

We're two days away from KH 1.5 HD ReMIX having been released in Australia and Europe, at which point it'll have covered all of the biggest gaming markets.

Now that it's out, here's hoping we see KH 2.5 HD ReMIX announced soon to continue the hype.

So... basically for someone that loved the final fantasy series and some how completely missed all this kingdom of hearts, im severely tempted to get the HD collection... (hopefully on ps4)

Is it playable as an adult or did you have to play it as a kid, im talking nostalgia..

Place your bets:

a) TGS
b) D23
c) Nomura time

I'll go with B.

I'm gonna go with A, especially because of this:

DestatiCountdown-610.jpg

A new teaser site with a heavy Kingdom Hearts theme has popped up with a countdown. The site is named after a familiar Kingdom Hearts musical composition, and the imagery is of the familiar stained glass that appears throughout the series.

The countdown will expire on September 17 at midnight Eastern time. According to the WhoIs results, the website is registered to Project Destati (and not a proxy or Square Enix). There is an associated Twitter account that has been sharing Kingdom Hearts quotes since late June, also.

September 17 is right before TGS.

It is strange, since the twitter is in english and has no Square Enix logo. But it is right before TGS so it could be something big. Maybe a fan movie or an official one?

I don't think we'll hear more about 2.5 Remix for a while.

Also, I think that Destati thing is for a fan album.

Who would make it?

The same team is doing KH3.

The folks who did the KH 1.5 HD Remix.

1.5 definitely did *not* take the full resources of the Osaka team, not nearly.

Not to mention KH2FM needs no fixes/changes to the controls, and DDD's cutscenes are pretty much already ready to rerelease without needing to be upgraded.

Really, the only thing that would need actual work to upgrade would be BBSFM's textures in a few places and adding stick-based camera control to that game.

According to Nomura, most of the work* for 1.5HD was done by 2 programmers at Osaka team through the course of one year.
*I'm assuming this includes porting KH1's and CoM's game engine and doesn't include redoing Days' cutscenes.

Right, yeah. And given that Re:CoM runs on the KH2 engine, a good portion of the work for KH2FM (though certainly not all, of course) is presumably done already.

BBS and DDD run on the same engine, IIRC, so that'd need to get ported as well.

Ok Project Destati is a fan made soundtrack compilation by Sebastion Wolfe

It's not Square Enix related. ok

Every game is pretty much related to one engine. It's all the same. BBS and DDD are scaled down versions.

Ehhnnnnhhh, not sure that's true. PS2-gen Square-Enix wrote new engines for new games all the time. Not that they don't share some amount of a code base, of course, but not nearly as much as current-gen games tend to.

All of the above.

But seriously a. I seem to recall 1.5 being announced very close to TGS, but my memory might be playing tricks on me

1.5 was first announced in September 2012. Here's a Joystiq article from September 19, 2012: http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/19/kingdom-hearts-1-5-hd-remix-announced-for-ps3-features-remaster/

So it was announced just before TGS, just under a year ago.

There's no guarantee that the same will happen with 2.5, but it's pretty likely.

Okay, guys.

My hypothesis:

"Unversed" was originally "unbirth" - in fitting with the Birth By Sleep title - until someone at Square-Enix realized that the English version of that word is also the name of a hideous animated-porn/furry fetish and that kids would google it and find a bunch of hideous shit.

Discuss.

I'm expecting a TGS announcement and a Spring release for Japan like 1.5. In keeping up with one KH a year it should be announced soon for a release next year, and I don't expect it'll take so much work that it'll come out Summer or Fall in Japan.

I would actaully like the gap between releases to be simultaneous or at least closer. It's 2013. Why does the rest of the world have to wait when every other game company is keeping the gap between their releases between mere weeks and even on the same day. Pokemon is now adapting this trend. Why isn't Square? Especially since they want that AAA title status.

I expect 2.5 release to be a little more closer in release gaps. Inexcusable a 10 year old game already mostly translated took 6 months to release elsewhere.

beat the game; hated cum guardian.

uuuh..what? which game?

So, chances for a Kingdom Hearts complete collection are probably pretty good once 2.5 is out, right? Cant wait for that (even though its probably years off :/). Good thing the individual collections cant tempt me right now, having completeted the final mixes a bunch of times before.
still need some kind of KH-fix though...

Really? I absolutely love that boss fight. Xemnas is fun too, but the version of him that you fight in front of the Deep Dive skyscraper is way better than the final boss fight version of him (which is way too heavily scripted and keeps getting interrupted with QTEs).

Likewise, Ansem with his Guardian is better than the gigantic monster thingy he's attached to as the *final* boss.

Best Xemnas is Data Xemnas. He's very hard and imo the QTEs make the fight even harder. I would say that
his KH1 version
is even better, but I HATE HATE HATE that menu scrambling attack that he and Terra share.

I agree. We called them that before the english version released, and it fit.

The menu scrambling stuff, kinda like some of the stuff No Heart can pull off in BBS/BBSFM as well, irritates me because it breaks the fourth wall a little bit too hard and doesn't really have anything to do with relying on your gameplay skills.

Terra's armor
probably had the worst version of it. If I didn't know you could dodge the light arrows that would have killed me more than the magic seal +rage/rage spam did.

In my opinion:

KH1FM Xemnas > Data Xemnas > Dream Drop Distance Xemnas > Final Xemnas > Skyscraper Xemnas > Armored Xemnas

The only thing I hate about Final Xemnas (and by extension, Data Xemnas) is the button mashing laser sequence at the end. Cool to look at, kind of tedious to perform after a while.
