Kirby: Planet Robobot |OT| A Transformative Mechstravaganza

I recently beat this a few days ago, and it was amazing. Way better than Triple Deluxe, especially the final part of the game...

I loved it.

Can't wait to see how the next Kirby will top that, haha.

I'm so close to the end of
The True Arena,
but I keep dying right at the end. It's consistently to
Nova's Heart at the last chunk of its HP, too, but those lasers are some BS
.

The game's fantastic, though! It's easily a GOTY contender. I mean, I doubt it'll win, but it's a hard 3rd behind SFV and Overwatch's now, and Sun/Moon are the only games that I think can beat it. I don't care if Kirby games are easy; they just ooze charm!

I just finished this a few days ago and holy crap is it awesome. There were just moments after moments that made me go "This HAS to be part of Kirby's stuff in the next Smash game" because wow. Towards the end of Triple Deluxe I started to get a little fatigued, but Robobot's final area and missions definitely avoided that.

And the final boss? It's fantastic. I can't say anymore because people really need to experience it for themselves, that was a spectacle for sure.

I sincerely hope Suzie's a fighter in the inevitable Smash for NX. But not over Bandana Dee, of course.

She'd be a good way to work in the Robo Armor's mechanics without changing a staple character's moveset for the sake of one game.

I took a break from the
True Arena after learning that the Hammer counter doesn't work on the final boss' dying attack.
I was on my last bit of health, so that death was... soul crushing, to say the least.

Just beat this. The last battle was a treat.

Don't know I will bother with other modes though. Anything worthwhile you unlock or are they just "reach for your high score" modes?

They unlock additional modes, as well. 100%ing everything lets you
use the otherwise Amiibo-exclusive UFO power-up in Story Mode,
from what I can gather.

I simply can't beat the last battle in the True Arena :(

Anyone have any tips? I get up to
when the timer runs out and flashes "GO!!" then I'm instantly killed. I have no idea how to avoid the attack or kill him prior to being attacked.

You have to break down almost all of its attacks and absorb them for the super shot if you want to win before it goes "GO!" on you.

The final boss of the True Arena is such bullshit. I thought the thing had died, was sitting in my archer cloak just to be safe, and bam I died. 30 mins down the drain. I'll try it one last time and call it quits.

Triple Deluxe's True Arena was soooo much easier.

Wait, I thought this was about
Nova's Heart. But there's a timer? And something flashing "GO!"? So on top of all 3 stages of the Star Dream OS Fight and the fight with the Heart, there's an escape sequence?!

Maybe I'll beat this someday. Someday...

Jesus Christ!

Awesome game but terrible balance of difficulty, there was no prepping for this fight haha

I think you can also
barrel roll through the GO!! (l and r) with invincibility frames. But I always managed to break down its attacks and fire them at him that way.

Nah, they're referring to
the Soul OS fight in the Halberd, before the heart. There aren't any nasty surprises after that. I promise.

Okay I'm obviously very late to the party, but this game is fantastic. Looks really nice. Some experimentation with the Kirby aesthetic and music. Really confident level design, certainly not hard but still good. Strongest traditional Kirby in a long time.

This game was epic played it last week and it's soooooo good my new favorite kirby game for sure.

The robo suit is very nice and the game itself just has so much charm it's very easy but it's a real classic like game, the modern stuff also is pretty refreshing areas like a casino and a town is real cool in a kirby game.

Dat final boss sequence yo... That was pretty darn awesome.

Gonna get Triple Deluxe soon really want to play that one now aswell because i heard they are pretty simular. I know the hypernova ability is not as fun as the robo armour but i want more kirby gameplay.

At first I thought was going to be underwhelmed by the final boss, but hot damn it was awesome. Didn't expect to
play as the Halberd!!! My favorite Kirby character's airship!

The game as a whole was awesome, the robot gimmick gave a very welcomed twist to the traditional Kirby gameplay mechanics.

As a longtime Kirby fan, I am very please with Planet Robobot. It is definitely one of my favorite titles in the series with Triple Deluxe, Return to Dreamland and Dreamland 3.

I think my top right now is:

1. Dream Land 3 (nostalgia or whatever)
2. Return to Dream Land
3. Planet Robobot
4. Triple Deluxe
5. Super Star Saga

Very excited to dive in to this one...

Quick question: I really loved the OST in Triple Deluxe - how does this one fare in comparison?

Having played both and loved Triple Deluxe's OST, I loved Planet Robobot's more. Both are really great Kirby soundtracks though, so I could listen to either.

It's pretty awesome, but I wasn't very impressed by TD's OST, even though some of my favorite Kirby remixes are from TD.

I'm playing this now and am at the end of world 4. This is probably the easiest Kirby game I've ever played. I haven't even missed any code cubes yet. Good game though. I can always count on Kirby to deliver a solid experience.

Ando and Ishikawa are still 100% on fire, but your opinion is going to hinge on how you take to the overall tone being a bit more somber and electronic than what Kirby usually goes for, and how much you like the leitmotif that runs through a good chunk of the soundtrack. Remixes from just about every major game in the series kicking around, too.

Triple Deluxe's soundtrack is a lot better. Robobot's isn't bad by any means, but there were very few great tracks.

I shot people I like more for less.
The puzzle room theme is the biggest disappointment in this one. The TD one is infinitely better. But overall it's really good, been listening to it again recently.

Man, this game is so damn good. I'm done with the main story. Can't wait for the post game stuff.

I can only get the Smash power with the Amiibo?

Edit: Also open to VC games on WiiU/3DS that are good too.

Kirby Super Star/Ultra is basically the grandfather of the modern Kirby games, and holds up very well.

Return to Dream Land is also pretty cheap on the Wii U eShop, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it over Robobot.
