But the harassment those guys get is, I would guess, largely not from GG or anything to do with sexism or th culture. They get slammed because of what they write about games. And because they love to have cocky attitude (or so it appears to many people).
I'm not really trying to equate critiquing someone's writing with harassment though. I'm talking more about stupid shit like Shredded Moose comics with Kuchera plastered in simply because he's a journalist who made his opinion on GG known. Nobody is reasonably going to try and construe anyone critiquing that Rock Band 4 'preview' as being a Gater simply for the act of making fun of it.
Similar example is how there's absolutely a lot of legit critiques about Double Fine's management as of late after the Space Base disasters and how Act 2 of BA turned out, but the DF/Schafer jabs in Postal 2's latest DLC are pretty obviously only in due to being the biggest developer with a public negative stance on GamerGate and far less to do with the former point. People like Mark Kern and Dennis Dyack can have the exact same mismanagement criticisms lobbied at them Tim Schafer has, but naturally don't from GG because of the stance they've adopted on the movement.
Man I hope the GG-related downvoters are not John Oliver's core audience demographic <.< It would be awkward to like the same show as these guys.
Some of them probably also like the same games/movies/music/food you do. I think it's a bit silly to worry about sharing some of the likes someone you don't like does, unless you feel there's some sort of correlation between why you don't like them and what you both dig.
I still have no clue what the context behind this, the Maddox mention earlier or the white supremacy (I'm guessing something specific and not just /pol/) is. At this point is there anything
not tangentially related to GamerGate?
