Interior mostly if I had to guess. And it seems a fair bit more detailed overall.

There's a partial interior, plus a ton of stuff that used to be made of tiles is now made of many bricks (the cockpit tunnel and the central turret disc, for example). Still, 2000 is a lot more pieces, so I'm curious what else is hiding in there.

Back of the box does show that it has panels that open to reveal interior sections. The old one had no interior portions.

Interior, and there are a lot more tiny pieces on the exterior for detail.
