I'm surprised this wasn't posted in NeoGaf, so I guess I'm posting here to help out the cause of localization. If you wanna contact Square Enix for Secret of Mana 2, now is the time ask to get demand rolling. Hoping the localization comes, because as a newbie for Secret of Mana, I'm interested in getting the collection for the Switch if localization does happen.

The class system in this game is so good. I'd loooooove to just enjoy the OT for this if it's ever officially localized because there are so many possible ways to play the game.

And oh man, some of the prettiest Mode7 spell effects ever accomplished on the SNES. Puts FF6/Chrono Trigger to shame in that department, honestly - it's that gorgeous.

Given this is the first time they've actually bothered porting SD3 anywhere and the general makeup of the Switch's hardware, they could probably cannibalize any work done to localize it for the Switch and crank out a mobile version.

At the least, they bothered doing a localization for Romancing SaGa 2. Anything can happen at that point.

You are right never say never - lets see how it performs in Japan and how it works out with Nintendos VC plans down the line. VC will likely be already a thing before this could get a western release, i would love if the SoM games were among the titles that would get updated with Online play for example.

Especially SoM is incredible popular here in Germany...could see it selling on Nostalgia alone if they advertise it together with the Joy-Con coop setup.

When contact them, please keep it very civil. Please keep it to the point. Something like "I am a fan of the Secret of Mana on the Super Nintendo. I would love to see Seiken Densetsu 3 translated into to English and brought to the United States and Europe. You have many like myself that want this sequel. If there has been any talk at all of bringing this game to the US, please count myself as a voice towards this."
