In this third watch, I notice the writers love the word asshole. It's there go to insult, but the way they use it most of the time especially with Foggy is corny.

Missed this earlier but this reads like the safest guesses ever based on what we know. And even if this shit doesn't happen in the movie, you can claim that it existed in early drafts with like 90% accuracy because it's fucking Captain Marvel and the Kree-Skrull war.
In other news, Emily VanCamp aka Sharon Carter doesn't know whether she will return to the MCU (duh) but apparently there were discussions to have her appear on Agents of SHIELD.

I meant more the Marvel Studios physics guy who gave an interview earlier this year. Here's the original article (those sites were all just reporting it). It was this that made me think she would possibly be off doing her own thing explaining her absence in IW, but this was also before they revealed that her movie takes place in the 90s.
I'll be honest, I always assumed they cast her in the role with that intention (having her in AoS or a present Agent Carter), given her TV experience.

Short of injecting Sharon Carter with super serum and making her the next Cap America (to shine on those half-dozen Bucky and Falcon diehards), I don't know what they'd do with the character anyway. The relationship with Steve is kind of awkward on multiple levels.

I wouldn't say I'm pessimistic about The Defenders.
But they've done a piss poor job at communicating why I should care about this beyond "hey you know these chracters from TV shows ranging from pretty good to garbage". It also sounds like it's plagued by the same problems the other Netflix shows were.
I mean, it's fine. Agents of SHIELD is returning next year.

In all fairness, it's a strategy that worked exceedingly well for Marvel when it came to their film equivalents.

Yeah, I think I've acknowledged as much last time the topic came up. It was a great hook in 2012, in 2017 I need more. Especially when the CW trash shows have these crossovers on a constant basis and almost always end up sucking.
Either way, I think it'll be fine. It's just difficult getting excited for 8x50mins coming off a bad Iron Fist season.

Today in "No shit" news, Michael Rosenbaum who played Lex Luthor in Smallville and Martinex in GotG Vol. 2 (This dude) would love to return to the Marvel universe which isn't all that surprising since from what I can tell he's pretty much unemployed now.

It's not as bad as some have reported, but it's also quite boring and poorly put together.

Ben dying instead of Karen, though completely unsurprising, still annoys the hell out of me. The fact that they went on to give Karen a job that was in no way justified by anything she did in the show made that decision look even worse. God, I hate Karen.

Oh, apologies! I only read that it was a line of dialogue that appeared in the Italian version, but I guess I was mistaken.
You know, I think the writers original intention was to essentially invest the character of Karen with much more agency and dynamism in comparison to her comic book counterpart, by allowing her to replace Ben in his established role as the trusted journalistic ally of Matt's as opposed to just serving as one of his satellite love interests. I imagine that specific characterization will come into play much more prominently when they finally get around to adapting the Born Again arc, with Karen taking over from Ben in that story as the deep-digging journalist desperate to prove Matt's innocence...as opposed to a drug-addled porn star who's only really good for serving as something of a damsel in distress, such as she originally appeared in the comics.
All in all, though, I think Karen sudden transition into journalism at The Daily Bulletin was incredibly jarring and felt largely unearned. She just seemed to stumble into landing herself an amazing job at one of the city's top newspapers. That, in combination with the fact that I really liked the character of Ben Ulrich in and of himself, in addition to the actor they got to play him. It's a shame his time on the show (and in the MCU at large) was cut so tragically short.
