Well, New Super Mario Bros Wii should be the fastest to 4 million.
Pokemon Gold / Silver got there with 7 weeks, if I'm seeing it right.

I should look for that list Chris compiled.

Edit: Here it is:

No

Nevertheless, considering NSMBWii was released much closer worldwide than PGS, I wouldn't be surprised if it is the fastest selling (single platform) release ever, with 10 million in 2 months.

I think Star Ocean 4 is going to "bomb" (<170k LTD) for three reasons:

1) The game is awful, unlike Tales of Vesperia
2) Tri-Ace fans are going to buy End of Eternity the week before
3) 8190Y

On a related note, I'm expecting Musou Multi Raid 2 to bomb badly (<200k LTD) too.

Gamasutra article is misleading then. They make it sound like the fastest game ever in the history of Japan

Thats not true. I still have not on the level I want to be but "Wii向けソフトとしては最速で," is not misleading at all.

Put me on the 'SO4 is another Trusty Bell' camp. Bad game, bad word of mouth, shitty extras, full price => lower sales than 360 version. So I'd expect 150k or so.

I have a bit more confidence in PSP after the December blowout did really fine in the end. In 7 days it had Phantasy Star Portable 2, Gundam vs Gundam 2, Naruto 3 and WE2010. Tokimeki 4 didn't do good though.

Now it has a totally stupidly lined up insane 21 days so we'll see.
02/25 Kenka Banchou 4: Ichinen Sensou
Minna no Tennis Portable (Hot Shots Tennis)
Power Pro Success Legends
03/04 .hack//LINK
03/11 Shin Sangoku Musou: Multi Raid 2
Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida Or 3D (Badman 3)
03/18 Fate/Extra
Gundam Assault Survive
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
The last 7 days are really something they should think twice next time. And it isn't taking into account other platform games those days (like Yakuza 4 on 3/18).

Next week there are at least 3 big releases with an ultra big one. Anyone else agrees we make predictions for this week?
Is EOE 360 the 3rd one? It'd be the only one I could somehow see out of MC Top10 (we'd have to go by it) but I'd like putting it too. Maybe using Dengeki Top20 for it if it misses it.

Do Ar tonelico games typically score that low?

Ar tonelico I got the same score as III, Ar tonelico II got 31/40 I think (all I know its higher than I and III).

I think Star Ocean 4 International could slowly crawl up to 200k though, it did "decent" numbers with its past predecessors (except the ports).

BTW, did Star Ocean 4 International appear in Famitsu's most wanted list?

Famitsu 11-17/01/2010 (no numbers)

01. (PSP) Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep
02. (Wii) New Super Mario Bros. Wii
03. (Wii) Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles
04. (DS) Tomodachi Collection
05. (Wii) Wii Fit Plus
06. (PSP) Tekken 6
07. (Wii) Wii Sports Resort
08. (DS) The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
09. (DS) Last Window
10. (DS) Pokemon HG/SS

Considering new Mario sold around 120k (yesterday Famitsu announced 3M mark), KH PSP should be around 120-150k.
REDC might be around 100k, not bad at all if confirmed

EDIT : New Mario Wii is 133.606

FFXIII gone from the top 10 list?

I guess it won't reach 2m... Or it would be very very slow.

So about 100-120k for DC, that's not too bad.

UC debuted at 105k.

Considering that Friend Collection was at 94k last week and could be down to 60-80k, RE Wii can be under 100k this week (I hope not)...

Last week was

Media Create
[WII] New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Nintendo) - 158.994 / 2.867.486

Famitsu
[WII] New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Nintendo) - 128.503 / 2.869.147

30k difference.

I don't think RE: DC will be over 100k.

Was the Famitsu that different?

Is Media Create top 10 already out?

And if RE Wii is at the second position in Media Create with 83k => NSMB Wii or Kingdom Hearts at third position below 83k???

You are looking at the RE: UC number from 2007.

I'm both saddened and amused that no Biohazard game on a Nintendo system has ever debuted at #1.

Biohazard: #3
Biohazard 0: #2/#3 (behind Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire)
Biohazard 4: #3
Umbrella Chronicles: #2
Darkside Chronicles: #3

Meanwhile, for Sony platforms, Biohazard 1 - 4 and both Outbreaks all debuted at #1. CODE: Veronica X debuted at #3, but the Dreamcast version debuted at #1. Biohazard 5 on 360 debuted at #3.

RE: DSC being on or over the first week sales of RE:UC would be surprising - I honestly expected a drop-off from the original.

Looking at install base I wouldn't really be that surprised.

Looking back at the first week to LTD ratios for Nintendo Biohazard games:

Biohazard 0 (GC): 47.51%
Biohazard 0 (Wii): 29.59%
Biohazard (GC): 44.50%
Biohazard 4 (GC): 65.91%
Biohazard 4 Wii edition: 34.57%
Umbrella Chronicles: 38.34%

The PS2 and PS360 entries have tended to be higher (with the exception of games like Outbreak File 2).

I'm both saddened and amused that no Biohazard game on a Nintendo system has ever debuted at #1.

Biohazard: #3
Biohazard 0: #2/#3 (behind Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire)
Biohazard 4: #3
Umbrella Chronicles: #2
Darkside Chronicles: #3

Meanwhile, for Sony platforms, Biohazard 1 - 4 and both Outbreaks all debuted at #1. CODE: Veronica X debuted at #3, but the Dreamcast version debuted at #1. Biohazard 5 on 360 debuted at #3.
Wow Biohazard 4 didn't even debut at #1? What was ahead of it at release?

Higher up I saw the previous top 10 posted by Freak showing the new Mario Wii at 120k. Are you saying it actually went up in this week's numbers?

cvxfreak posted 04 - 10/01/2010 chart
NSMBW - 2,869,147

yesterday famitsu said NSMBW broke 3M milestone with 3,002,753 in the week ending on 17th Jan.

3,002,753 - 2,869,147 = 133,606 copies sold during week 11 - 17/01/2010

probably last week were stocked more copies than the previous week, i think NSMBW is still hard to find (jgaffers please confirm)

So that'll mean BbS sold more than 133k in its second week, and DSC sold less than 133k in its debut right?

Radiata Stories and Another Century's Episode. Biohazard 4 really underperformed on the GameCube, and that could easily be explained by the much, much better PS2 performance and the comparable Wii performance (after its Best Price rerelease). Cumulatively, Biohazard 4 did surpass 1 Million in Japan though, which is excellent.

Wii owners in Japan you passed the test once again! Get ready for the next one! RE5 Wii edition incoming!

Will Capcom announce it after Alternative Edition hits? Stay tuned!
I wanted my waggle version this spring :(

So, BbS continues to track above KH1 and below KH2, while NSMBW dominates again and again, with a possible increase for DSC's debut over UC's debut. Good week all around. :)

Wow, nice job RE. There seemed to be no buzz at all for this game, so I assumed it would fall flat on it's face. 40-50k range. This is why I avoid making predictions.

Maybe the new Wii owners missed the first one and need their guided first person shooter fix.

Or..

CVXfreak personally bought around 85k..

Based on Wii Sports Resort and Pokemon's consistent performance, it looks like Last Window did about 30k. This is pretty damn bad, because Hotel Dusk debuted at 61k...

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It's certainly not looking like it will hit the 200k+ LTD heights of its predecessor...

Follows the trend of general trend of second installments of a franchise on the same console underperforming, and the subtrend of this being specifically true for Nintendo games since 2008.

Of course, it also follows the trend of being a last minute announcement with no major coverage or advertising. Yahoo!

You'd think that based on the sales of Wario Land, Punch-Out!!, ExciteBots, Sin & Punishment 2 and a bunch of other titles Nintendo would stop dumping their games on the marketplace with little to no advertising.
