SF2 did fine for what it is. 16K for rereleasing a digital game from 2008 (which itself was an enhanced port) with some new throwaway modes at that price is fairly decent. It's now the best opening for a 3rd party game on Switch post launch.

Ys did well as a late console port as well. Probably means Ys 8 was well received on Vita last year.

Also to the comment saying how people expected Horizon to outsell Zelda in Japan even though they thought Zelda would sell 300-500K makes no sense. Horizon did well by selling 200K in Japan as a new Western IP.

Maybe you could also add 1 2 Switch to that graph.

Wow, what a title.

Anyways, good to see 900k for Switch. Zelda hits the 600k milestone, should outsell TP soon. Also, I don't understand why people are disappointed by sales of Ys and USF2. They're both super late ports (USF2 especially), so they did fine for what they are.

[GBA] Super Street Fighter II Turbo: Revival <FTG> (Capcom) {2001.07.13} (¥4.800) - 14.512 / 45.335
[NSW] Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers <FTG> (Capcom) {2017.05.26} (¥4.990) - 16.781 / NEW

Game will probably get a bump now in preparation for the Switch version.
I wonder if Capcom will release a Best Price version of the 3DS game around the same time as the Switch version. It wouldn't hurt MHXX Switch and it would get more sales out of the 3DS version.

Well that gives some nice context. I wonder how USF2 will perform in the coming weeks relative to that GBA game. I wanna say around 50k LT isn't out of the question, but it could also drop off the charts next week and I wouldn't be surprised.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Speaking of Ultra Street Fighter II: I'll admit I had higher expectations at first, even in spite of its downfalls (content compared to the price), but, as time went by, it seems Capcom never ramped up enough their advertising efforts for it in Japan, not even near is launch. Certainly it had a presence on Capcom TV (their YT-specific show where they play different games), and it was featured on Nintendo's own "multiplayer-focused" Switch commercial, but those were not enough to not make it look like a very low-key advertising effort. I'm sure there are people here more aware of how Capcom Japan usually deal with advertising in Japan, so correct me if I'm wrong here if necessary.

EDIT: I'd still say the game had a decent first week (at least, if we think of SFV as a demonstration of the franchise's appeal decreasing as a whole), but I wonder how well / badly it's going to sell in the next future. Not counting on great legs though.

tell that to Disgaea 5 and I am Setsuna

Disgaea 5 Worldwide looks to outsell the PS4 version or at least come close.

I am Setsuna was sold out on Amazon, Suruga, Yamada and (at least MY) local stores before a price drop. In fact a price drop STILL hasn't happened and both titles are still selling at full retail price.

It seems that SE sold it's original shipment of the games so it is likely living up to their expectations. Tokyo RPG Factory recently announced that their next game will launch with a switch version.

They didn't set the world on fire but by what metric are these games failures. I am guessing in each case the publishers do not regret the effort of making a Switch version.

Switch gets away from Wii U just as it gets outdone by the PSP, though both are getting near the 3DS.

PS2 and Wii are neck and neck while the DS starts to fall behind the GBA.

I love this.

Do you have anything at 20 weeks (or a couple more than that)?

I want to see where other systems were at when Switch hits it's Splatoon 2 weeks. If that makes any sense.

I have to admit that Ys VIII did better than I expected. I think the difference must have been timing (placing it where there are not other titles or announcements sucking out energy from the release) and properly advertising the extra content and improvements.

Even for Japan, we don't have enough information to call Disgaea 5 a total failure. It never hit "bomba bins" and is still at full price. We won't know until the yearly Famitsu numbers come out if it has still been selling below the top 50 but since retailers haven't done anything drastic to clear inventory, my guess is it still moves a few units to new Switch buyers.

Again it is not a massive hit but unless I missed a comment from NIS about grandiose expectations, it probably made money for the company. They spent nothing on advertising it. And the effort paid off with WW sales.

Has Falcom ever made anything on Nintendo hardware.

I'm probably missing some but:

NES / Famicom:
Legacy of the Wizard (Published by Borderbund)
Faxanadu (Famicom Xanadu)
Ys I Ys II, Ys III (All ported by Victor)

Game Boy:
Dragon Slayer I

SNES / Super Famicom:
Dragon Slayer: Eiyuu Densetsu
Dragon Slayer: Eiyuu Densetsu II
Popful Mail
Brandish
Brandish 2
Ys IV
Ys V: Ushinawareta Suna no Miyako Kefin
Ys V Expert
BS Dragon Slayer Eiyuu Densetsu (Satellaview)

Nintendo DS:
Those Ys remakes (don't remember how many there were or who ported them, Atlus?)

3DS:
Gurumin 3D: A Monstrous Adventure

And they had Ys I+II on the virtual console (Turbo CD port by Hudson)
Also Dragon Slayer: Eiyuu Densetsu (PC Engine) but only in Japan
Sorcerian Only in Japan

So, now we are back to Disgaea being failure so it means third party is dead for Switch lol.^^

That's not what I meant to say, I didn't say that Disgaea 5 being a total failure or third parties should abandon the console because their games didn't sell enough in Japan. I just want to say not every game being released in the early months of a console life is meant to sell well, Bomberman just happened to be an exclusive that hit the nistolga of most of switch buyers

How quick did it hit bomba bins on PS4?

It had discounts about 2 months in but never deep enough to hit the "bomba bin" (where games are like half or more off).

And it got a Best Price release as well on the PS4. So it could hit the more price conscious shoppers.

That's not what I meant to say, I didn't say that Disgaea 5 being a total failure or third parties should abandon the console because their games didn't sell enough in Japan. It's a shame how stock issues are holding Switch back. Hopefully they have a good stream of consoles by Splatoon 2, if not ARMS.
I expect a major stock refill with Arms in addition to a higher baseline of switches being shipped. I could see them do this in hopes that they pick up arms along with it. In addition to that they will be running off hype from E3 and one month before Splatoon 2 hype.

I think there will be a massive restock around Arms release, combined with the marketing Nintendo has been doing with the game, they want people who buy the console will buy arms with it also

Here you go:

What number do you expect? 75k like MK8D got, or even higher (and with that the start of the increased weekly shipments)?

aside from wii and gba, the switch is nearing the 20m+ club.

Another 75k for ARMS launch is the most i can see it happen as if they put out too much during ARMS moment, when Splatoon 2 come out, they are going to scramble to find any machine left lol.

I also hope this happens. I loved the ARMS Testpunch and I hope this becomes Nintendo's new successful IP.

But so far I see nothing to indicate there will be more stock for the ARMS release.

Everything here is Splatoon 2, Splatoon 2, Splatoon 2, Splatoon 2, Splatoon 2!

I don't think ARMS will bomb but I feel it will be heavily overshadowed by Splatton 2 even though it is coming out first.

I am guessing it will sell a lot of units to Japanese Switch owners who played the testpunch, but I just don't see the big mainstream hype. Kids are not talking about ARMS. Well... my kids are, but in general it's just not there yet. If there are ARMS TV ads, I have not seen one yet. I don't think anyone is buying a Switch for ARMS specifically (though I think a lot of people buying a Switch will pick it up in addition to the killer app they are buying the system for).

There are no ARMS bundles. And the Switch units in the Splatoon 2 and MHXX bundles has to come from somewhere so I don't see Nintendo getting 75k, 100k (or whatever people are predicting) into the channel on ARMS launch.

I hope I'm wrong. But I would not be shocked if there isn't a massive bump in supply that week.

There will be a guaranteed increase in supply Splatoon 2 week (bundles). But other than that I don't think Nintendo is "holding back" any units for ARMS. It would make no sense to to do. They can already sell every one they make and Mario Kart 8DX sales are currently being kneecapped by shortages.

Not sure if it's discussed here but the rumored new Sony handheld device has been finally revealed!

It's called Toio!

That's actually pretty cool. It's like Minecraft x Amiibo. Amiibo are physical representations of video game characters. But the Amiibo don't move.

With Toio, you can be creative (like in Minecraft) and make your own video game characters in physical reality and you can also move them around with a controller, like you would in a game.

Is it possible Switch will beat PS4 to 6 million LTD?🤔

gonna be close. it also depends on the number of units Nintendo can ship.

Just like how we estimated when PS4 would pass WiiIU then suddenly everything is out of the window because there is no more shipment of Wii U.

Watch Nihon Falcom support this before the Switch.
I think they will have a generous supply of console stock for ARMS, precisely because of Splatoon. Everybody there is looking forward to Splatoon 2 and are desperate to get the console. You generally don't get a console without games, so they'll be more inclined to get ARMS than they were before.
